I don't think I've ever played a video game where the portrayal of sex was anything other than plain bad. Maybe in Vampire : Bloodlines because it just cut to black and you heard some moaning and it was over.
I think just implying that it happened or fading out as it's about to start are far more elegant solutions to showing the actual act, same goes for movies.

If you can't do it well, don't do it.
If you can, absolutely go ahead, but that'll ruin your rating, so any studio that could do it well won't, because the game won't sell anymore.
Hence, so long as sex earns games a higher age rating than violence, we won't ever see good sex scenes in video games.
