CPU is OC'd to 4.7GHz

Is that BenQ a TN monitor? It really isn't doing your hardware justice, IPS or VA would look much better.

How tough is overclocking? Just put in a 6600K and want to use it to its full potential.

How far you're going to get depends on your cooling and on pure luck with the CPU. The process itself is fairly easy, in the most basic sense you increase your CPU's multiplier while also increasing voltage to aid stability. Then you stress test and keep going until you generally get to a point where the CPU gets too hot.

That's the basic process, if you're going in-depth there are a lot more settings and voltages you can adjust. If you're a beginner you should try to find a decent guide for your CPU or platform at least, they could provide you with a starting point and some useful guidelines in terms of what voltage level you shouldn't really exceed. Common sense and monitoring your system while doing it are important, but unless you go full retard there shouldn't really be any way to easily damage a modern CPU.

I need a new PC

Appreciate the response. Right now I'm using a CoolerMaster 212.

Well it's not high-end, but should be pretty decent, especially if you've gotten lucky and have a good CPU. No real harm in trying to OC as long as you employ common sense, monitor your system while stress testing and follow some voltage guidelines so you don't push anything too far. Since I don't own Skylake myself I don't know what those are but I'm sure you'll be able to find guides online.

>until you generally get to a point where the CPU gets too hot.

Not that user, but when is too hot?

Step aside, peasants

Got this on craigslist for $1500

My friend said it was amazing deal

Ha i have windows 10 enterprise you scrub

i will never get a good gaming pc

Is anyone getting misleading numbers from this? it said my Motherboard was 114c. I tried multiple monitoring programs and they said the same. But when I downgraded speccy it shows a more reasonable temp(I should also mention that my bios was displaying a proper temp as well.) is this just some sort of API error? because all of the programs I tried were saying the same thing.

Iv'e heard speccy can have bugs often. Even the version i'm using does not show GPU temp but for now it's still more accurate..

forgot pic :)

Who else bought a titan?

Most Intel CPUs have a max temp of ~100C (at which point they will throttle). I'd say you really don't want to exceed 90C in any case, although many commercial products do this on a regular basis. So let's say you want your torture test temps to be under 90C and that should mean you'll generally be fine. Normal load won't heat it up anywhere near that, but I'd say this should really be the upper limit. Normal use should probably be in the 60s, maybe with some spikes to the 70s. If you're hitting in the 80s during normal activity I'd dial it back a bit.

>970

Bought a PS4 Pro instead of a new GPU or monitor.

1070 or 1440p monitor?

Monitors better have come with it.

No

Thinking of selling the 1080 preemptively for the 1080ti, especially since I won't be playing anything for the next month

Could use a GPU upgrade, but it handles most of everything I want to play just fine so I'll probably put it off.

>1070 or 1440p monitor?
Neither
1440p wouldn't be good with a 970 and a 1070 would be wasted on 1080p
Stay where you are until you can upgrade both
