i mean, dark souls is kinda on its way out already
Maybe. The 60fps 720p mode better be available for us psplebs
im sure it will be better than that with some more optimization. probably 900p 60fps considering uncapped mode averaged around 45 fps
i believe it's going to be
normal ps4
720 60
1080 30
ps4 pro
1080 60
1440 30
They're not even remotely similar games, Nioh is gonna be fucking great and the best souls games have passed and comparing them in the first place only serves to discredit Nioh
I hate sony so much
they havent said much for the normal ps4 in terms of resolution
also for ps4 its :1080p 60fps and 4k 30fps
ps4 pro*
user, getting a belt that a boxer relinquished is not the same as "killing" him.
vg247.com
Nothing was said for the regular ps4 though
560p confirmed?
The demos were 60fps.
The settings for standard PS4 will probably be the same as the Alpha and Beta, either 720p 60fps, or 1080p 30fps. Both standard and Pro also have an unlocked mode with the higher resolution, apparently in Beta people said it stayed around the higher end. I didn't try it since I wanted silky smooth Action mode which delivered.
SILKY
SMOOTH
Give us Silky
Give us Smooth
Feb is too far away.
>kill a series that has already finished
this is what i dont get. how can they get a game like battlefield 1 to run at 900p 60fps but not other games on the ps4
Gomenasai, my name is William-Sama.
I’m a 36 year old English Anjin (Navigator for you gaijins). I plot courses on my charts, and spend my days perfecting my map-reading and playing superior Nipponese games. (Hanafuda, Mahjong, Janken)
I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my scroll of sword mastery two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.
I speak Nipponese fluently, both Kanji and the Kyushu dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Nipponese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%
When I get my Nipponese Red Seal, I am moving to Edo to attend a prestigious Academy to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a vassal to the Shogun or a merchant!
I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Nippon, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Nipponese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.
Wish me luck in Nippon!
Too slow, fuck its stamina system.
>slash enemy twice, have to take a 10 minute breather
Also enjoy your cancerous souls twitch streamers being all over this game.
t. conquered
They fixed the 'breather' in the beta, and you generally got used to not using too much stamina if you played the alpha long enough
...
>what is low stance
>what is light armour
>what is Ki Pulse
>what are all the support spells and items that aid Ki regeneration
This level of ignorance is what caused the game to be nerfed.
go away alpha tantrum kun
To be fair, it was their fault for not explaining the mechanics well enough. They should've at least had some text onscreen right before the game started explaining how to easily avoid getting winded
>what is low stance
>what is Ki Pulse
Bad game mechanics.
I don't want it to kill SoulsBorne per say, but it'd be nice if Nioh made people stop acting like SoulsBorne are the best games ever because they're so hardcore ex dee.
I'm not entirely sold on Nioh myself, but I feel like it's only superficially a Soulsborne game. Sure it borrows elements from it but it feels more like its own thing. I'm not sure if I actually liked the game though, especially since it feels more unfair and cheap than SoulsBorne at times.
Those are what let you use less stamina or regain stamina though, so without them you'd be even more fucked, conquered-kun ;^)
>how to easily avoid getting winded
It doesn't get much easier than "don't press buttons when you're low on Ki". All you need is to see it happen once and you know it's a thing. The explanation for Ki Pulse was relatively cryptic ("After attacking, return to a fighting stance" points you towards the stance button but could be better), but the Ki gauge refilling and the blue effect are very obvious to notice, which should prompt experimentation to see how you get it back for real.
Because..?
You're right that it's very much it's own thing, but the lack of input delay and queuing alone made the game feel much more fair in combat than SoulsBorne games. Situationally they're both fair enough, you always have the tools to deal with what comes your way.
That's why they are bad. It's additional button presses to make people think the game has a high skill ceiling, when it's just rather boring.
>attack twice in x stance
>switch to y stance
>dodge to regain stamina
>switch back
>repeat
wow...epic combo....
>having more options and techniques to do which require additional timing and execution to be successful isn't skill-based
Really now, tell me more about how you kept running out of Ki after doing anything.
The thing is, if they don't read up on the ways to properly use stamina more effectively like low stance using less per attack, you will get people using high all the time and complaining about getting winded. I guarantee it.
Then that's entirely their own fault. The game tells you how to change stance, if the first thing you do isn't changing to each one and swinging a few times to see what the difference is, then you're not even playing the game. It'd be like playing Mario and not noticing or considering that you might jump further if you run then jump. The rest is the learning curve of the game and where the actual fun is, finding which works best for you against each enemy and attack.
>yfw you're a Conqueror
BILL
Sure the game got easier but it is still hard. i would rather have a game that is still hard but not overly tedious
The game wasn't tedious at all unless you used your fists or something, and even that had the cool as fuck blade catch. That's very quickly becoming a word that's losing any real meaning.
...
>it's a "Game is punishing for its own sake" episode
I want this meme to die.
This. I played the beta and the game is just fucking arduous in its difficulty.
It's basically masochism: the game.
Dark Souls is already way dead.
The game looks like a musou to me, I don't like musous, and looks less fun than Let It Die or Dark Souls. Why should I get it?
I'm excited for Nioh and from what I've seen from the demo it's going to have more difficult and faster paced gameplay, but I wish they'd have put in a little more time into the music, atmosphere and level design because all three are really poor. I mean it's one thing to beat a Lord of Cinder with an orchestral score behind you and it's another to bully a bird whore to death in a dark 720p cave listening to low budget nip music.
It isn't a musou
>tfw Dark Souls music hasn't been good since the original
> 4k 30fps
Nope, it's either 1440p 30 or 1800p 30 upscaled to 4k.
No matter what it turns out to be, The Mark of the Conqueror is significant.
Before I say why I need to divide the Souls community into two general groups - Conquerors and Conquered - and quickly define both.
Both have basically been around since Demon's Souls, but the very nature of the Conquered demands that the Conquerors come first. Why? Because Conquerors beat the path and light the way. Afterward, like mold or a rot, the Conquered seep into the community, ever at the heels of the Conquerors.
How is that? Either by a lack of information upon release or due to a self-imposed restriction, the Conqueror goes in blind. Conquerors embrace the challenge From Software has extended with each release in their Souls/Bloodborne Series while the Conquered abhor it. While Conquerors scratched and clawed their way through levels and boss fights, the Conquered poured over FAQs, Strategy Guides, Wiki Articles, Google Search Results, Let's Plays and How to Videos.
Therefore the Conquered subsist by virtue of the illumination spread over From's games by the Conquerors, entirely dependent on it. Overtime they've let themselves forget this, fancying themselves old hands as they bring their borrowed knowledge and tactics to bear on each successive release.
And then here comes f***ing Nioh, reminding the Conquered who they really are. And with little to no documentation in sight they hide behind s***posts so they can cling to that "gud" status they worked so hard to attain. Eventually they'll be back. Once the Conquerors have shown the way, that is.
And that's why The Mark of the Conqueror is significant. No matter how superficial, uselessly cosmetic or quickly outclassed it is, it still says I'm not No, I'm a Conqueror.
Ninja Gaiden 4 when?
Bloodborne has a god tier OST at least.
it this copypasta
I'm sure someone that can't overcome punishment is perfectly qualified to judge the reason said punishment is in the game.
>couldn't learn how to play it even when it was simplified
Did you consider practicing and looking at all the options the game gave you that can make things ridiculously easy?
It doesn't play like a musou at all. The usual comparison is that it takes a little of Demon's Souls, Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha and Diablo while at the same time bringing enough to the table that it becomes it's own unique thing. The combat is varied and deep, it's gonna have a focused story along with lore and history and there's a spirit waifu.
it already Let it Died
yup
DS3 and BB have the best music though.
I'm ready for my dick to kill that pussy
at the hidden tea house
I didn't like the loot system at first, but with the blacksmith unlocked,I kind of liked it. Gives me an incentive to find treasures to level up my gear. I don't think there was anythere I didn't like about the second beta. Fighting that lightning dog guy and the twilight fields missions were some of the most fun I ever had. I see a lot of people complain about the game and I just don't get it.
She only dates pure japanese men.
I've gotta laugh at how every publication is lying about pro being 4k. How the uck is this even legal?
Why does shit have to compete?
Nioh looks great, but it's not like everyones going to drop Souls and only play Nioh.
I forget, did changing stance affect your block?
Mid stance = least amount of ki lost from a block. Other stances punished you more for blocking. Only difference iirc.
Mid stance was the only stance that could recover Ki while moving and blocking, but aside from that all guards were the same in regards to Ki cost. Mid stance learned most of the defense oriented skills like parries though.
As long as I can get those 60fps on my normal PS4, it's all good pham.
Though I do have a question regarding the season pass: Can I buy it even if I don't purchase the "deluxe" edition?
probably when the game comes out
In what fucking way is this anything at all like a Musou
What
Does Nioh have an armor system similar to Dark Souls? As in, do you have outfits you can find and equip? Does it have character customization?
>"I didn't play the Alpha but my friend says it was garbage"
>uses light/mid armour and katanas only, "the combat needs to be slower"
At least the overview was relatively comprehensive.
it has a armor system similar to dark souls yes and you can find full sets or mismatch if you like but no character creator
never said it was the best review but to someone who doesnt know anything about nioh it does a decent job of explaining things
The armour system is fairly similar in that you find tons of different stuff to wear, you have 5 different spots to outfit and the weight will put you in a certain agility class (this isn't affected by weapon), which determines your Ki cost for actions, dodge distance and hyper armour on attacks. Unlike Souls, they all come with their own advantages so none are overall better than the other.
Everyone plays as William-sama, so character customization is limited to the armour you wear, though this pic makes it look like there might be hair customization too, and you can select whether or not your helmet is visible.
looks like we might be able to recolor some armor as well
Yeah I'm not saying you did bad in posting it, but someone's gotta review the reviews ya know?
Nioh gameplay, even in the first demo was far beyond any souls game.
Dark Souls is already dead, the franchise is over
No one even talks about Souls anymore on Sup Forums
I was actually just looking at that when I posted it, it would be really cool if that were the case.
yeah it definitely would add a little more to the game
success breads hate
>kill dark souls
>already has a ton of games and sold millions
I mean if one doesn't come out it will win but didn't the people at from say they wanted to work on other things now?
I should post the PSX stuff. There's supposed to be a stream happening on Youtube on the 20th.

> 70 hours
holy shit
fucking cute, is this going to be an enemy or just a weird NPC
If you attack him (because you recover too fast now), or do the wrong gesture he fights you, so it's sort of a neutral enemy.
enemy. if you dont copy the mimic he gets angry
It attacks you if you don't do anything and probably if you don't do the gesture that it does when it pops out.
nice mechanic desu
>All you need is to see it happen once
>very obvious to notice
Only if you happen to be staring at your UI when you attack, which is when people are least focused on their UI
>PS4 exclusive
It couldn't kill an ant homie
the beta was fun as fuck, i haven't played a beta that good since guild wars 1. if the game is as good as the beta then i will spend 100+ hours on it easily
I'm excited this will be my first souls-like game
No, it's if you look at it after you attack/try to attack and get staggered, which is the most likely time for you to be looking there, especially when you don't know your Ki costs yet. Besides, it's not very hard to have the bars in sight while fighting, no one disregards their health or Ki in combat. Also it still applies outside of combat if you just do attacks safely to test them out.
But I already did that, Senpai!
>has a ps4 so they can play nioh
>hasn't already played bloodborne
m8...
I've never been interested by the souls games or bloodborne.
I didn't buy a PS4 for Nioh, I just like the setting of the game.
What is the difference, it is just Dark souls: samurai edition
It wont but I'm still hyped as hell. I just hope it's not a crock of shit like Lords of the Fallen was.
I never played the beta, how was it?
The beta Action Mode was almost consistently 60 FPS even with a alot of stuff happening. Also the resolution appears to "switch between 1280x720 and roughly 1660x935."
PS4 Pro has that one image that you can find online about it's features.
nioh controls weird and jerky and floaty like a ps2 game and no character create
no thanks
