How come we don't see the same amount of Harry Potter expanding universe games we saw with Star Wars?

How come we don't see the same amount of Harry Potter expanding universe games we saw with Star Wars?

Happy Potter spells are not as easy to implement without becoming repetitive quickly as Lightsabers and a couple of force powers

>magic based rpgs don't exist

>yfw you realize Newt is a Hufflepuff

This is the first Harry Potter film I've seen since I was 12. How the fuck is it connected to Harry Potter? Besides the spells and Dumbledore being mentioned, it didn't feel like it was connected at all.

I think the concept of this movie as a game would be fucking amazing.

Imagine having to explore and open world New York City to catch the magical beasts and then manually setting up habitats for them inside your suitcase. The monsters you already have can be used to aid you to defeat the ones running around in the city.
There could be a notoriety system based on how many muggles see you performing unusual acts.

still kind of constrained as something that has to exist within/hidden from the modern world.

Star Wars you could make up a new planet with whatever rules you want -- it just lends itself better to it.

It's a prequel, and Grindlewald is involved.

it's not connected, just same universe
I haven't seen either of them and even I know that
also all these sameface bigname actors being in every single movie is really getting on my nerves

so basically pokemon?

I've always wanted a Harry Potter MMO where you choose your house and learn magic.

Pretty sure Dumbledore will become a major character in the sequels as well

Because the breadth of Harry Potter fandom is women. Harry Potter is to women what Comics and Star Wars is to men. Except women are less obsessive and they don't play video games.

Thats the best thing about this movie. Harry a shit

I always wanted a KOTOR Harry Potter game before the events of Harry Potter, none of it seems hard to write or create

I was thinking more like Monster Rancher mechanics with a little bit of a Zoo Tycoon habitat building.

>choose your house
>choose your
>choose
casual

>Grindlewald
Who? My mom dragged me to these movies till I was 12. I always hated em. I went to see this one though cause I kinda liked the artstyle.

Newt is autistic

That sounds pretty boring actually. It would get old super fast

He's Dumbledore's evil friend/gay lover/rival that he will eventually have a big battle with

Harry choose Gryffindor. The sorting hat will literally let you choose. Did you even read the books?

Why would you want games of one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises? Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

TL;DR

>BNW lower than 1984

goddamn what an elitist faggot.

Is this how casual video game players see us as when we berate each other?

why do you post this in every hp thread? do you not have anything else to do?

Yes. That's why every other board is better to talk about shit than their home boards.

Fuck off Harold

>It can't be helped
>In any case

I fucking hate overused phrases. Reading Series of Unfortunate Events really teaches you to dislike those kinds of people. The author even pauses to tell you the "irregardless" isn't a real word and you should be annoyed that the character keeps saying it.

That had a game too for some reason. I almost miss the shitty, obligatory movie games.

really fires up the neurons

>johnny depp in the last 10minutes for a 30second scene and 3 words

Sequel pretty much confirmed

>he doesn't know

Is it me or did the CGI in this movie look really fucking bad?

Mein Kampf not in god-tier...

What

>ayn rand
were you one of those pizza-faced hog-bodied goth club kids that would hang out in the squatspot and discuss your poetry?

ugly fag

They're stretching this shit to 5 films

It's already been confirmed there will be 5 Fantastic Beast movies, and the 2nd is already being filmed.

its the same universe and will flesh out the backstory of Dumbledore and will probably end by foreshadowing Voldemort

Fuck your shit house, Slytherin all the way

>choose your house
thats not how it works you little shit

See

to clarify, the sorting hat "takes your choice into consideration" but that's not quite the same as letting you choose

The move in general was kinda stupid but the fat guy getting his memories wiped made me legitimately sad

>July 2011
>12
You have to be 18 or older to post here.

Harry would've and should've been Slytherin but the cuck wanted Gryffindor. But honestly if they did make an RPG of HP they should ask you a series of questions that picks your house like Morrowin.

>5 films
This is going to be The Hobbit all over again

Sort of, but the Hobbit was three movies based on a pretty short book as source material. These movies shouldn't feel like extended versions of a regular movie.

Nah at least The Hobbit was a book, Fantastic Beasts was a fucking pamphlet. They're making shit up as they go along.

>They're making shit up as they go along.
So like the rest of movies made that aren't based on books?

Regular movies that aren't based on books don't usually get a 5 movie deal out of fucking nowhere senpai.

this is the best meme of 2016, hands down

I think that's why I liked Newt so much. Redmayne played him awkward, but believably awkward and not quite typical Hollywood awkward.

why do you assume its the same person?

That changes things how?

>mfw blondie visits him at the end

Also, maybe one of the biggest challanges of a HP game is how complex you would make the gameplay, how many spells, how much would you be able to influence howarts, etc.

Because I don't like it.
