>Final Fantasy XV ending
I.. I didn't expect to get emotional. I didn't expect to get attached to these characters. The game was heavily flawed but that was hands down the best Final Fantasy ending of all time. I can't fucking believe it Sup Forums

>You guys.. are the best
This was the only part that got me sad. Fuck Luna, bitch had like 10 minutes of screen time.
I love how Tabata fucked up Luna so hard in XV. You HAD to watch Kingsglaive in order to even give the slightest shit about Luna. Why the fuck wasn't it in game?
Money issues. Kingsglaive is to FFXV as Ground Zeroes is to MGSV.
You mean time issues.
I gurantee that movie cost more than it wouldve took to implement into the game, but they had to rush the game out the door so they just threw money at a movie commission.
>Noctis actually says he loves his bros in the Japanese version
Why the fuck did they change it? That would have actually been more powerful. Reminded me how in the Japanese version of FF X Yuna tells Teedus Thank You but in the English version she says I love you
Nigga thats gay.
Never gonna play this game, but how does it end?
You have no fucking idea what you're talking about, jesus.
>10 year time skip
>Ardyn says he will continue to come back from the dead
>Noctis kills Ardyn
>Noctis kills himself to permanently kill Ardyn in the afterlife
>Flashback to the gang's final campfire scene
>Noctis and Luna get married in the afterlife
We know you don't have any close friends. Nothing gay about telling your best bros you love them
I wish I didn't just go in for a weekend rental. I feel like the ending would've hurt ten times more if I didn't rush the game.
About what, the game not being rushed as shit? Do tell.
That seems kinda crazy
Don't forget that apparently all his friend's died too. I don't know if they just died fighting the golems or of they intentionally gave up their lives to help Noctis with the power of friendship during that afterlife scene.
year time skip
>tfw my old dog's name was Jester
>I used to tell him to get off my chair all the time
Now that was a feel I didn't ask for.
nigger
4's ending is better
6's is great
Tactics' is phenomenal
9 has the most satisfying ending
XV is way down there, just barely above 1 and 2
>Noctis kills himself to permanently kill Ardyn in the afterlife
for which you have to literally press O to do so
no joke, as in you really have to press O
Will people stop spreading this shit? His friend's didn't fucking die. Literally every anime/game/Japanese weeb shit does the whole "all my friends are here to give me strength and power" spiritual metaphor bullshit.
Oh look, another one of these "Gladio, Ignis and Prompto died" idiots
those are just manifestation just like those corpse in the throne room
also that was anime af
Its just like when Cloud goes into the Lifestream to kill Sephiroth. Instead of instant wining with Omnislash, you instant win by pressing circle.
As much as I enjoy it, it seems more like bad story telling than ambiguity. No one has any real idea of what the hell is actually going on in that ending.
If Altissia got fucked up by Leviathan, how come it looks perfectly fine in the following cutscene, where Noctis is being all mopey?
Will never know if the "leaks" from the japanese voice actor were real but if they had gone through with the political intrigue, the time traveling with photos and the Stella antagonist, this could have been one of the best games ever.
What part don't you understand? It was all pretty clear to me.
Is Noctis the only mainline FF protag to die?
Honestly if we just played the characters after the timeskip for the second half of the game it would've been much more enjoyable.
Nomura knew what he was doing but they dragged him away, shame.
They did die, why else would they be in the afterlife?
And yes it happens in anime too, because the characters died eg Sailor Moon.
Tidus was technically dead.
I was just going off what another user said when I checked a thread last week. I was really, really fucking drunk the whole game.
So they survived the golems then?
Leaks?
They werent actually there, it was just a breif second when Ardyn imagined them.
FFX's Tidus died, even though he technically didn't exist or some shit but he comes back if you get the good secret FFX-2 ending.
What could have been
Let's entertain the thought that they died. What then, was the point of looking at the photo at the end? Why would Luna look at a photo that was supposed to commemorate his friends and journey when they all should just be right there at the throne with them?
... and Squall?
Why would he do that though? Luna came back and he wasn't too pleased to see her now was he.
Nah
L O L
and in Sailor Moon, it was also all a dream L O L (see end of manga)
>Why would Luna look at a photo that was supposed to commemorate his friends
Eh? The photo I picked was one with Noctis with his head up a monsters backside.
The japanese voice actor had a draft of the first part of the game when it still was Versus. Aparently, there was much more political intrigue with Iedolas and Regis actually being relevant, there was something reminiscent of time travel Xenogears style, and Stella was the main antagonist and love interest.
You've played the game so you should know this never came to be, sadly Nomura was changed for an amateur and moved to KH3
>time travel Xenogears
Xenogears didn't have time travel, it had reincarnations if that's what you mean
That was Nomura's original vision but Tabata/Square butchered it. FF XV was originally suppose to be a trilogy but Tabata/Square passed on the idea and did a very shitty job on condensing a trilogy into one game. It was so fucking rushed and didn't give time for the characters to properly develop.
You can see how different Nomura and Tabata are. Nomura wanted games to flush out the story/characters. Tabata wanted a shitty movie and a mediocre anime to flush out the story/characters.
Summarize XV's story for me in 3 sentences
Squall isn't dead?
Prince Noctis and buddies go on a long road trip to get the prince hitched. The bride-to-be is killed and the story shifts from "lets have a wedding" to "lets kill the bad guy". The Prince calls upon the power of the gods to vanquish the bad guy and in turn kills himself in the process.
Ardyn should have turned into a demon form and that should have been the final battle. Would have been so final fantasy to fight demon ardyn in the afterlife
Yes, I too was really emotional about his marriage to this character you barely saw and barely interacted with and barely knew anything about.
Wtf happened to Noctis when he was a kid? Do we ever learn? He was in a wheelchair in many flashbacks and I read somewhere that he was recovering from a near-death experience? Why didn't the game day anything about it?
It's in the movie and animes. He gets attacked by a demon, his dad saves him, then they go to Tenebrae to recover.
who says everyone needs to be in the same room in the afterlife?
Huh. I watched the movie but I don't remember that being touched on. You'd think it'd be more significant to the plot the way they presented it.
Sounds like you need to watch the movies and anime.
I was expecting that too and was very disappointed. It didn't feel right. We fight Ardyn one on one and then a DBZ style air fight and then that's it. Felt so anti climatic. Should have bought Nomura back to do the final fight properly. I love the THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM fights in Kingdom Hearts
they expect you to watch the anime and movie to understand the story.
shame all the good stuff was cut...
like a real story
Like, look, the ending is kind of cool in terms of themes and shit, but wouldnt it have been cool if you and the bros, you're all dead, fought Ardyn in like a seymour flux/necron form? Would have been pure final fantasy goodness.
And that DBZ on rails fight was so fucking cringe.
>Forced to watch a movie and anime to understand the story
That's horrible story telling. It should have been in the fucking game. That;s a fact
He got attacked by this bitch as a kid which almost killed him, though he finds her later on as an adult and kills her. Which is why she isn't in the game which was a shame.
>references the four fiends
>shows one in anime
>leaves the other three out of the game
WTF SE?
FFXV is literally the type of game where the less you know about the behind-the-scenes the more you can enjoy it.
Doesn't help that even then Luna has about as much personality as a rock. I don't mind her getting screen time but I do mind how they'll try to give her a bunch of supplementary material to make up for her lack of screentime in the main thing she should have had screen time in. Especially since just about every other female in the game is much more interesting.
You can use any photo you want, though. Even the chick who fixes your car full on up her arse.
Isnt that Stella?
Tidus died like two times, bro
Beat the game today. This part got me. Didn't care about Luna.
Well no it's Luna from FFXV Brotherhood, though Stella and Luna are the same person technically so yes?
I've been pretty Emo lately but I teared up when they have their last camp together and Noctis confesses that seeing them all there like that after all that time was "too much to take."
Still, it drove home some of the games major flaws. I loved camping out and dicking around in the overworld but there was barely any reason to do it, especially if you abided by the recommended level for story quests. The story leading up to the bit where you leave the open world should have been twice as long, like 40-60 hours or 80-100 if you do absolutely everything.
The game was fucking magical but it was over in the blink of an eye. I did every sidequest, loads of hunts and all the dungeons and I've only put in like 50 hours.
Too right
>Actually liking this retarded ending that kills off everyone for no reason
having a laff m8
because the game heavily focused on prompto doing selfies, to distract people from all the removed shit?
Not him, but I watched the movies and the anime and still don't really understand how anyone could have really gotten attached to Luna, especially not in relation to Noct since we never really see them together in any of the media outside of brief flashbacks to when they were kids. They never developed their relationship anywhere, and Luna was never fully fleshed out as a character.
>getting attached to all of the shallow characters
I swear, are all of you fuckers braindead or is it just shills?
Well fuck them then. Those should be supplements, not necessities.
We aren't all faggots like you, faggot.
I still don't know for the life of me WHY Tabata felt the need to scrap Stella for Luna. Stella all around sounded like a way better character. She was the love interest and antagonist
People aren't actually "there" in the afterlife. Notice how Noctis and Luna are silent and then close their eyes? They're not taking a nap, they're fucking dead which is why they're eternally resting.
Post stupidest ending photos.
Why did they fuck up her name in the English version?
Japanese: Cidney (a play on Cid)
English: Cindy
Doesn't quite work.
Tidus doesn't die. We never speak of this abortion
How many games have had a love interest who at least partially doubled as an antagonist? I guess Xenogears sort of did but she still quickly changed sides. My main issue is that Stella sounded fairly original as far as those characters go, even moreso because she wasn't a childhood friend and thus would have to actually interact with Noctis.
All he does is call the KOTR or whatever to btfo Ardyn into oblivion, not much to do there considering you already fought him before.
Being a love interest and the enemy doesn't really work though,
>First mainline FF game where summonable Bahamut doesn't do Megaflare
Yes I'm mad
Mainline where you can't summon Bahamut outside of the second to last fight
Amazkng how you didn't miss a single detail that the game also didn't
he was never alive to begin with it's like you fucking faggots never played the game.
Yes it can.
Mainline where you can't summon Bahamut
he/she really just shows up
>love interest
Since where was this stated? If anything, Nomura described their relationship more as platonic than romantic and Versus doesn't have romance. I prefer versus overall but I swear to god people's fanfictions are getting worse.
What is this guy even on about? How could you possibly get that emotional and attached to characters that were so under developed they felt like little more than 2d archetypes?
I think most people would agree that a lot of the characters were cool and seemed to have interesting personalities. Luna had convictions, Cor was a badass, Aranea had a cool feisty personality, Iris was cute, etc. . . but those type of paper thin descriptions are about as much as you can say about them.
Sure I can see how they are appealing, and I want to like them, as I think a lot of people do. But the reality is that there's so little to go on with most of them that basic appeal is really all you're left with, which is just unsatisfying.
That's what would have made Stella such an interesting character though. I'm beyond curious to see how it would have all played out but alas we will never know
Why not? Is it that hard to believe that a love interest can have other goals than to be with the protag? Or even goals that conflict with his? It doesn't mean that she is THE antagonist, and it doesn't mean that she can't be experiencing character development. That's what makes the average love interest boring so often; they don't really develop as characters, but only as love interests, if even that.
Walk tall... my friends.
I would've liked it if he called them brothers like Cid said but fuck man.
We have no way of knowing that. And since they showed up in the afterlife it's way more plausible that they DID die. This is just a theory you subscribe to and expect everyone to as well.
Because languages are funny. "I love you guys!" in English can come across as campy and frankly doesn't really fit with how buttoned up he is as a character. He even uses a fairly light word for love in Japanese which is regularly used to convey "like".
The thank you thing has been explained elsewhere, I believe.
