They can't keep getting away with it.
They can't keep getting away with it
Its the worst selling Paper Mario, and one of the worst reviewed. They didn't get away with it.
It got better reviews than Sticker Star, pretty sure it outsold the first one and SPM
Nope. SPM is the best selling paper Mario game, and it got almost the exact same meta critic reviews as Sticker Star.
How was paper jam? was it a rpg or did it play like super paper mario or what?
It played like a Mario & Luigi game, because that's what it was.
it got better reviews than SS because it was a better game, still got lackluster reviews overall
Oh, I thought it was like a mix between M&L with some Paper Mario in there too. Was it good?
???
Boring.
It's a M&L game, so it's fun to play, but the Koopalings don't appear enough and have very unorganized screentime, and the villian is just Bowser & Bowser but he's paper. Paper Mario literally has no character aside from being paper too, and the papercraft battles are just NOT!Giant battles and are similarly godawful.
All the bosses are fantastic though.
>Koopalings don't appear enough
They take up most of the fucking boss fights.
75% is lackluster
It's a legitimately funny, enjoyable game
With few of the criticisms from the previous game addressed.
>Paper Mario games being this hideous in a pos-Tearaway world
This game came out months ago. Why the random thread all of a sudden?
What is with Nintendo and thinking we wanted more Paper in Paper Mario?
>it's literally called PAPER Mario user..
I'm not confused on why they're using the paper aesthetic, im confused on why they think it's ALL WE FUCKING WANT. Seriously, listen to the interviews and trailers, "Paper Mario is back and more PAPER than ever!", "You'll love the new Paper Mario since EVERYTHING is paper." No, who fucking cares? Sure it looks nice but, that shit won't hold up in 10 years. Nobody goes back on the graphics. Paper Mario 64/TTYD stuck because they were prime examples of good game and good sequel. They had a story and FUCKING CHARACTERS. Paper Mario gave much more life to Mario characters. Having a dumb fucking aesthetic won't win me over to buy your shitty attempt of a game, Nintendo.
>TTYD/64 fan boy detected
You damn right you detected me. You can like color splash, that's fine. It's not a bad game. But compared to the other first two, that shit isn't a good example of the series. Trying something new is fine, they did that with Super Paper Mario. But slowly changing the games we loved as the new norm and stripping the elements of the games for watered down versions of it and expecting me to like it cuz' hey, IT'S LITERALLY PAPER!! is fucking bonkers and retarded.
Fuck off.
This.
The writing was quite literally TTYD-tier.
Honestly, this whole EVERYTHING IS PAPER aesthetic would have been great with SPM because everything was made up of disjointed squares and circles and shit. Would have made that game look excellent rather than just pretty stupid.
But at least it still had a wide array of characters rather than 101 Toadalmatians.
Hardly. It was better than Sticker Star's writing, nobody's denying that, but it wasn't TTYD tier.
Delusional
Mario RPGs had a near perfect track record. While arguably Partners in Time or Bowser's Inside Story were "low points" they were still good games worth playing. Now after Dream Team, Sticker Star, and Color Splash (haven't even tried Paper Jam yet) I'm not even sure I want another Mario "RPG" anymore.
...
...
>Color Splash thread sucks thread
>No one here has played the game
Sad!
Explain. Define "TTYD tier" since you seem to know what that entails. Give me a good scene in TTYD that genuinely made you laugh or bust your fucking gut and explain why Color Splash fails to deliver the same experience.
I pirated it
Honestly CS is a lot better than TTYD as it has the same quality content, just in every single level with none of the pacing problems.
Just off the top of my head, you never get a scene like the one with Dooplis. Never a major WTF. And I'll tell you why Color Splash fails to deliver something like that: it played it way, way too safe. All your same mario characters in more or less familiar levels were the tone is happy and cheerful more often than not.
Now this is shitposting
>CS
>Way too safe
>More or less familiar levels
Never played it confirmed.
But that's wrong
So, where is Paper Mario gonna go from here? What will they do with the series?
Will they ever realize their mistakes?
Will Paper Mario get worse forever?
Super Paper Mario sold 2.2 million copies according to Wikipedia, and Sticker Star sold 1.9 million.
Knowing Nintendo. They may have already started work on Sticker Star 3.0 already.
If they make another game like Color Splash and Sticker Star the backlash from such a blatant example of contempt for the fanbase's wishes and criticisms would probably make it sell even worse than Sticker Star has, and at that point the games won't even be profitable to make anymore.
Sorry, I meant sell worse than Color Splash has.

Post a better source, then.

Hey burden of proof is on you m8
Uh, no it isn't. I gave you my source of information, and you questioned it. That means you have to provide the source that refutes my claim.
not him bu
this isn't court user
I don't think that's the case. When the game was first revealed they tried everything in their path to hide it from the public. It didn't get it's own trailer, listing on Nintendo's website, and I think their Nintendo Direct vid with its reveal had certain timestamps of all the games but Color Splash was mysteriously left out. I think someone at Nintendo is aware of how much the fanbase hates Color Splash.
It wasn't until E3 when one the devs went "GO PRAY SOMETING ELSEU" is when they finally started showing other things
No it isn't
What, I'm not gonna go search the internet for the benefit of his argument. He needs to make it himself. Either way, this is getting off topic. Point is, Color Splash did not do well by pretty much any measure.
When your source is possibly faulty you need to provide me with better source, how about that
>I could possibly be wrong, why would I want that
>ywn play a paper mario game with such a comfy tone and atmosphere again (and actual rpg gameplay)
Well, I say my source isn't faulty. And since you aren't coming up with any numbers, you have no way of proving it is faulty.
>I say my source isn't faulty.
When it's easily manipulable I say it can be
user. For real. Get your ass out of bed and do it yourself you lazy turd.
Do you think if Miyamoto retires his grip on anything different and unique will go away? Or has he corrupted Intelligent Systems far past the point of redemption?
Seriously, why is Miyamoto so fucking autistic about the Mario series recently?
No original characters or story depth, Bowser only, final destination.
He's old and set in his ways.
To some degree I can get what he means. But it really shouldn't apply to RPG spinoffs of all things.
It's not just Mario, it's everything.
He's not being too involved with the Switch though.
