>Why aren't video games as comfy as visual novels?
Depends, but due to their greater focus on gameplay and mechanical interactivity it's a lot more difficult for them to approach the types of atmosphere you get in the best visual novels like OP
Then again, the sometimes unclear input into choices in visual novels can be very grating for some people.
>2. They're not.
You'd be surprised, user.
>Mods said it, therefore it is absolute truth
Cucks
first post best post
>Has no gameplay
>B-B-BUT IT'S A GAME A MOD SAID SO ONCE SIX YEARS AGO
Not opposed to VN threads on Sup Forums but get a fucking grip.
But why are Persona and Fire Emblem video games?
sauce and link user sama
YOU FUCKING CASUAL SHITHEAD REEEEEEEEEE!!!! FUCK YOU NIGGER GO EAT YOUR CHICKEN RAMEN FITHY PIG!!!!
Genuinely curious, can you define "game" in a way that excludes visual novels without excluding things that are generally considered to be games?
>Which are also video games
I'm okay with VN threads, but they're a grey zone.
>Wow, we totally shouldn't use the rules of this image board to determine what we post here
Fucking faggots.
a visual novel by itself is not a game but visual novels with gameplay is a game.
But you could define 'gameplay' as 'any interactivity at all', and thus every VN that let you make choices would be a game
>Why aren't video games as comfy as visual novels?
Because good video games require more than just "press A for story". You actually have to do things in video games aside from having the story selectively presented to you.
>but selecting between 3 list choices at any given time is doing something, therefore video game.
Technically yes, but mostly no. Old point and click style games gave more agency to the player than most visual novel style games.
Is making dialogue choices gameplay?
It would be great if one day comfy was a word filter ban
What a boring, edgy, faggot Juicy Yuuji was. He's lucky his VN had Mitcher and Smug loli.
you could say that but the interactivity is so minimal with visual novels it mostly ends up being the same as watching a movie.
Are DVD menus video games?
I'd say it's closer to reading a choose-your-adventure book. But to each their own.
Are Goosebumps books video games?
>comfy
Can people stop using this word. It's mostly used to justify shit games by saying it's comfy
kek exactly
Left or Right?
Right. I mean, left from the shota's perspective

What lewd stuff would you do to Micher?
they sure are comfy
...
Because most people associate comfy with slow/badly paced.
Comfy should be running a dungeon in Shiren, enjoying a furlough in Growlanser, building your base, etc...
Not waiting X years for Y event to happen.
>Which are also video games
Allegedly.
I don't know why, but the only vns I've enjoyed are school days and that eroge named eroge. Even if it had all that fucking scat for some reason.
I want Hearbreak 101 user to come back
I love this vn so much, until protagonist fucks up everything.
Everything looks and feels so cozy, comfortable like you said.
But, as soon as protagonist get into a deep relationship with anyone It gets worse and worse.
It could have been "it has some issues but I love it THE VN" if you delete protagonist from the VN
But the protagonist is the only good thing about it. Most of the heroines routes suck ass.
Anyone who says VNs are not games are underage inbreds who have never played text adventures.
Compairing vns and ta is like compairing shit and star.
I'm not having a comfy time at all.
...
Michiru is for bullying
Grisaia was dogshit and Mitcher was its sole redeeming quality.
Street Fighter VN when?
