other way around - they'll have to cater to docked mode in most cases I bet, afterall the hardware is built inside the handheld device and not the dock (though there could be some extra juice int he dock, I somewhat doubt it'll do anything more than overclock the CPU or something)

Lies, a port is under consideration if the console sells enough units at launch. By new content you probably mean the GotY edition with all DLC that all current platforms get.
It's essentially the same thing as a laptop running in high-power mode when it's plugged in. It can ignore any battery saving options in favor of a slight performance boost.

Once they reveal the Switch's hardware, it'd be idiotic to assume it'll go beyond that while docked.

Mobile graphics and CPUs are really lopsided performance wise, i'd be surprised if anything other than the most recent flagships could match ps3/360 performance in that aspect.
