I'm thinking about getting a PS4

I'm thinking about getting a PS4.

How does PS+ work? Can you only play the games that are featured this month? Or any games that have been on PS+ previously? Or do you have to install the games that are currently free, and then you'll be able to play them at any time? Or do they just take away your game at the end of the month?

Also, anything else I should know before buying a PS4?

You can only play the games they feature for the month, but when you download them you can keep them and play them whenever you want.
You can't get the games that have previously been free unfortunately, but hey at least you get pretty nice deals as a Plus user. I got Twisted Metal Black for like 4 dollars last week.

The "free" games are able to be downloaded and played as if you had purchased them as normal. By at least adding the game to the queue, you acquire the license to download it as long as you have + and can do so at a later time if necessary. You only lose access to redownloading it if you discontinue +.

The main point of having + is to play games online with other people. The "free" games are rarely anything but garbage.

>anything else I should know before buying a PS4?
With the arguable exception of Bloodborne, any game that's actually worth a shit on PS4 is playable on PC.

>when you download them you can keep them and play them whenever you want
Do they require PS+ at that point, or can I unsubscribe and still play them?

Also if you know one of your friends that needs PS+ to play with you, then you can let them use your account as your primary. They can gameshare your games and you can still access your account to play online with them as well as vice versa. Obviously, only do this with someone you trust but if you get dicked then just call Sony support and get it removed. When you have a PS+ account activated as your primary, every user on your PS4 will be able to utilize the online and play your games.

You'd need to keep your PS+ to keep the free games.

I'm getting mixed signals here.
said that PS+ sub only required for redownloading them.
What happens if I download a "free" game, and then my subscription runs out? Or if I just plug out the internet cable? Will I be able to launch those games?

Can I play FF XV on PC?

You can play them offline just fine, but regarding the subscription...

Once your PlayStation Plus membership ends, content you previously downloaded at no cost as part of the membership (such as Plus Monthly Games) will no longer be available.

Pulled straight from google, friendo.

not yet but it's confirmed for it and will launch at some point in the near future.

What about the Last Guardian? :v)

TLG is obviously exclusive user, now you're just shitposting

But Shenmue 3 user...

is Shenmue 3 still happening or what?
I haven't heard anything of it since the kikestarter

Shenmue isn't developed by Sony Japan studio.

>The "free" games are rarely anything but garbage.
that's not true though
they're just not very known for the most part

oh please, PS+ started out pretty great but lately it's just been cheap indie mediocrity, and that's at best.

Nobody knows, but I'll go check the Kickstater for you...

The last video update is about choosing the music for the new game and it was back on November 30th. So, I guess they're still working on it at least.
There's honestly no telling if this shit is going to come out in our lifetime, let alone on the PS4.

PS+ has shit games 9 times out of ten but ps+ exclusive discounts can be good sometimes

Also get the PRO. Memers will say that it's refund any, but for some games the difference is quite worth it.

What brings my piss to a boil is when devs make a "free" version of their game to be released for the PS+ users, and then it turns out to be a glorified demo. It only happens with really shitty AAA games that I barely wanted to play so at least there's that.

>How does PS+ work?
Avoid it. You can use the console just fine without it.

That's what I intend to do, but I just wanted to know.
Btw, can I just buy one, never update the FW, and just put in retail copies of the newest games and play them without any kind of update nagging?
Do I absolutely have to update the FW in order to use PSN store?

The hottest tip is to sign up for PS plus if you see a free game or good deal you want. Can use alt accounts too but I think they need the usual credit card info to get ps+ up and running.

Games?

What games?
You do know you're talking about a playstation right?

Are memes about low framerates on consoles(specifically PS4) true from PCmemers?
Is it bad experience as they claim to?
t.not OP but thinking about getting PS4 pro

Mostly shit stirring. Same games seem to be designed with the pro in mind though and suffer on the original console.

>Btw, can I just buy one, never update the FW, and just put in retail copies of the newest games and play them without any kind of update nagging?
Yes, you don't even need an account for that.
Your games will update the system software from disc though, if required.
Only catch: You have to avoid some known-to-be-broken multiplats by AAA publishers though.
For example No Mans Sky won't run properly from disc. But most games are fine.
>Do I absolutely have to update the FW in order to use PSN store?
Depends on Sony, they set the minimum version required.
But you can simply disable the Internet connection via the menu and continue playing offline.

>multiplats
I have a PC for that.
>update the system software from disc
Oh well, I guess, if it happens it happens.

What's the fuss over updating system software anyway? You prayin for hacks or something?

Yes. Console games are unreasonably expensive here.

you seem to be misinformed
