Aeris or Aerith?

Cidney or Cindy?
When I was younger Tifa but these days I'm starting to see the appeal of Aerith.
Aerith obviously
Cidney
Yuffie of course.
Aerith
...
Aerith
I mean if you look at the whole Ex-Death/Exodus shit then it makes sense
Cloud or thundah?
Aeris sounds much better, especially in my language.
Aeris sounds so much nicer. I don't know why squenix decided to change it. Did weeaboos complain or something?
because Aeris is a mistranslation and her original intended name is Aerith.
Aeristh
Aeris
That's what she was called in the game I played so that will always be her name to me.
Cindy
Same reasoning as above.
It was always Aerith. Aeris is a mistranslation. Also Cloud never said "Lets Mosey" or half the silly dialogue that came from that game. It's gonna get real irritating when the remake comes out and everyone is surprised that the cast is serious all the time and everyone is wondering why Aeris is called Aerith despite the fact she has been called that since Kingdom Hearts
Aeris, because I don't have a lisp.
And? Aeris is still better. "Cindey" is a "proper" translation and that's shit too.
Yes, they are also the reason you do not have a girlfriend and post on Sup Forums.
Aeris sounds better. Mistranslation or not they shouldn't have changed it.
Better start calling Zack "Zax" then
I really hate nostalgiafags.
What do you mean Aeris is "better"?
Because you grew up thinking that was the case and you refuse to consider otherwise?
Lord knows what they were thinking with Cindy, but that wasn't a case of mistranslation, probably localization more than anything.
Aerith is a case of mistranslation because of how poorly translated a lot of the Final Fantasy titles were. Her original and actual name is for all intents and purposes 'Aerith', refusing to believe that is having your own headcanon (read: delusion)
The Jap version is pronounced "Zakkusu" which is translated to Zack in English.
Because an S sound sounds a lot more graceful than a "Th" sound.
Aerifs
The thing is Zack is obviously the name, if there was any misconception to be had the developers would've been asked and any other conclusion would've been reached at this point.
Aerith being "Aeris" at only one point in the history of her character appearances shows that it was more than likely a mistranslation especially considering the dodgy and confusing nature of the Romaji for her name.
But everything else, including everything from more accurate translations from the Kingdoms Hearts franchise to her page on the official site for the re-release of Final Fantasy 7 just goes to show that her original name is Aerith.
You can call her Aeris if you'd like, a lot of people are connected to FFVII in a very nostalgic manner, just know that it is not her actual name.
Not necessarily?
Sounds like you just have a connection with the mistranslation.
Your middle/highschool crush.
Not that user but that is just human stubbornness at work. You played this as a idiot kid so now Aeris will always resonate in your mind forever. It must suck considering Aerith is her legit canon name that has been used in every piece of media related to Final Fantasy 7. I hope you don't at least refer to Final Fantasy 6 as "III"
Aerith is her true name, so I'll go with that.
"Aeris" was just a mistranslation, after all.
You know, ENGRISH?
That's it. If you ever read manga scans, if find a lot of those mistakes.
"Grifis", "Gatsu", "Raito", "Eneru" and so on...
Aeris, I hate bubbly cunt aerith.
The english translation/adaption of FF7 from back then was full of fuck-ups like that one. Little ones, but still, many. So, so many. I hope everything will be better resolved when the remake will finally come out.
wife
That autistic guy already re-translated the whole thing for the 'Beacause' mod
>It's gonna get real irritating when the remake comes out and everyone is surprised that the cast is serious all the time
>tfw liked the edgy tone of VII compilation as well as goofiness of the original
>refusing to believe that is having your own headcanon
No, it's playing the official release of the only FFVII-based game that matters. No matter how much you revisionist fags try to deflect from it, her name is Aeris in the English version of the game.
It's actually Claude and Alice
Don't forget Bullet
I was in the Aeris camp for a long time because I just felt like the name fit her better, but it's pretty obvious it was mistranslated and the misconception was kept alive for years because of the lack of voice acting. Then SE perpetuated it by never referring to her by name in AC. I think they waited too long to reveal the real name in CC.

Both are dirty sluts
That makes far too much sense. Stop it.
Human stubbornness is both amazing and annoying.
What the fuck? Are you mad?
Aeriths
>every piece of media refers to Aeris as Aerith
>the creator himself says official name is Aerith
>average long time fans acknowledge this
>it's still Aeris because I say so
You realize you are crazy, no?
It's Aerith, nostalgiafags in denial will disagree
>they shouldn't have fixed an error because I liked it
...
Expendable-Lass
it'th obviouthly aerith you thtupid thon of a bitch
jethuth chritht, how can you BE tho THTUPID

>every piece of media refers to Aeris
The video game Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation lists her name as Aeris. I'm including a screenshot to confirm this, as you obviously haven't played it (which is fine). Do you dispute this?
Neither, she dead
user, did you literally just returned from a mental hospital?
Because the FFVII translators clearly knew what they were doing.
I wonder if this is baiting or if this retard actually thinks "aerith" comes from somewhere else than the game
Guys, could you answer the question? Do you dispute that the video game Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation lists her name as Aeris? Put your extended universe movies and fan fiction writing aside for a minute and just answer the question. Cheers.
It's Aeris in America
Aerith and Aeris make no fucking difference to the japanese, they can't do the th sound so it will always be S. Aeris is closer to the original pronunciation while Aerith is what the nips meant to write, so both are correct and it's the translator's choice, there's no mistake.
you mean the mistranslated western release of a Japanese game, that came out during a time where translations had several faults?
>Do you dispute that the video game Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation lists her name as Aeris?
>while Aerith is what the nips meant to write
this is exactly what makes Aerith the correct name.
>Put your extended universe movies and fan fiction writing aside for a minute and just answer the question
Go back to reddi/t/umblr
Yes the original release calls her Aeris because of a mistranslation during a time where there were a lot of them.
Further releases of games shows that the developers acknowledge that the proper translation is Aerith.
Nobody is saying otherwise, it's still a mistranslation that has become increasingly apparent over the years, now it's so obvious that only people who have the game deeply ingrained in them on a nostalgic level believe otherwise.
It doesn't matter
Only pic related matters
No you idiot, there's no mistranslation, th and s are the same sound in japanese and so it'open to interpretation
t. japanese student
Do you dispute that the video game Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation lists the word as beacause? Clearly, all the other spellings are therefore wrong.
>Yes the original release calls her Aeris
>Nobody is saying otherwise
Good, I'm glad we got it cleared up that her name is Aeris in Final Fantasy VII. I'll leave you guys to your spin-offs and fan fiction.
obviously they sound the same that's where the confusion came from to begin with.
The thing is a lot of mythos and names used in Final Fantasy have a very western vibe to them, so if you show the developers two written names for Aerith and Aeris, they'd point and say that they meant to say Aerith.
The fucking game manual has her as Aerith. Do you call Sephiroth, Sefirosu because that's how they say it in Japland? I bet you call Death Note, Desu Noto. Japs can't make the -th sound in their language nor does it exist.
No it isn't. If you understand Japanese it's clear that Zack is as big a mistranslation than any of them.
It's points like these where I can't tell if this is some primo bait or if parts of Sup Forums are actually as retarded as the kind of people you see in a youtube comment section.
Someday I`d like this image to be explained to me.
Aeris if you played the original
Aerith if you're underage and unironically think anything in the compilation is good.
doesn't matter if it's good or not, what matters is the creators intention
...
Aeris. it just sounds better and thats what majority of people are use to.
If we're still debating on JP/EN why do Sup Forums still clamor on futa poison when she is female in japan? Why don't Sup Forums use the proper names for M.Bison, Vega, and balrog? or Rockman instead of megaman? pokemon... lizardon over charizard?
yeah I suppose, it would be Zax
>However, his name has recently been romanized as "Zack Fair" in official Japanese media and material.
there's definitely some confusion here, but I'd agree on Zack originally being a mistranslation.
aeris
What was Sephiroth intended to be
>nostalgiafags can't let go of a name that is a mistranslation
Moon because you know
...
Seth ;)
>Autists with lisps can't pronounce names correctly
why should I let go? it's how I played the game. i don't know this 'aerith'
>hurr star wars was always supposed to look like this, accept my changes or else you're a nostalgiafag
t. george lucas
>Ealis
>Bullet
>Claud
damn gamefan. I miss you sometimes
But Aerith isn`t a change. Aeris is the change, that was made when the game was released in english. Then they corrected it.
>jap names
>english numbers
Why do nips do this?
It's an actual word, no mistranslation
...
It's a fucked up prank
Yeah I know user I was just getting on with the americanized names jokes geez.
>doesn't know the difference between a change and an error
pretty sad desu
>americans going to admit they're wrong
rather drop another nuke you again
>english numbers
american education everyone
That`s their numbers.
We`re the ones using japanese numbers.
