It's still consistent with current mascot standards.

Well considering Skylanders is one of the most egregious cases of using a completely unrelated pre-existing IP as a launch rocket to get their new IP off the ground using brand recognition in recent history, I'm going to assume they didn't care as long as people bought it because it had spyro written on it.

I didn't even know Skylanders was built off of Spyro, so that can't be the case.

The made him look like the dragons in that animated movie that came out a few years ago because it was so popular.
