KotoR II Dexterity makes it harder for enemies to hit you and easier to hit enemies, while strength amplifies physical damage.
You can take a feat on some characters to replace your strength modifier with your dexterity modifier for damage rolls.

Great for turning dodgetank characters into dodgedps.

Phs skills scale higher off of Dex than Str. Dex affected the gun which provides much more utility than a sword and the physical "spells" scale off of Dex higher regardless of whether it's a gun, physical or almighty(phys) ability.

It was something like 1.5 per point of Dex vs 0.8 per point of Str.

I heard they fixed it in the sequel.

Without counter mechanics the better framedata wins.

Dex has always been my favorite in Souls games, I just like the faster moveset. Went through my first playthrough of DS1 with a rapier and a falchion.

I was somewhat butthurt when I did a second playthrough with a zweihander and realized that dex is basically hardmode for the first part of the game.

Pretty much every fighting game. Fast, weak characters are all better than strong, bulky monsters.

The range at which you can stab somebody before they can pull out their gun and shoot you is pretty large though. Obviously you shouldn't try that when the gun's already aiming at you though.

That's more like just statistical bonuses though. I was thinking more along the lines of a game where STR+DEX has a whole different combat style than either str or dex.

They did. Physical skills scale str and gun skills scale dex.

Souls games in general favor Dex over strength besides maybe DaS1. DaS2 pvp and pve favors quality/dex. DaS3 same pretty much although strength is still very viable.

Whats the point of going DEX in dark souls games? You never have the chance to hit a boss more then a few times anyways.

This is something I learned from video games. When you go one direction and want to change, you have to momentarily stop, which leaves you vunerable. Every time he would stop, he would leave himself open for a good shot. Your best bet is to either close in and disarm him or run. You're probably scrwed if a person draws a gun on you anyways.

Dark Souls, but only the first one where DEX weapons where actually good. In DS2 they added strength scaling to stuff like spears such that you needed both to be good, and in DS3 all the DEX weapons were hot garbage.

Estocs and Katanas are pretty good in DS3 though? Even though it ultimately doesn't matter since most people just build quality anyway.
