Thanks for the virus porn

Ace Combat 6 is a perfect example of shitty cutscenes ruining an otherwise amazing game.

HW gives me black screen with sound and changing the resolution crashes it

I can't imagine an amazing game being ruined by cutscenes no matter how shitty. Assuming they're not unskippable for some reason.

set the renderer to software

Did exactly that before you suggested it. It worked apparently, but now the sound is crackling a lot.

make sure in the video options that 'threaded video' is enabled. if it is, turn down your resolution scaling.

So what emulator should I use if my computer is a potato that's still running Windows 7?

It is.

Actually, the GPU scaling slowed everything down at 4x. Apparently setting it back to 2x fixes it.

How does NG+ work?
Do you get to keep the planes you unlock?

There's no NG+, you start over every time because plane selection is story-based instead of credits-based.

You start over keeping nothing except the colors in the title screen's background until you unlock the simulator.

Looks interesting, I haven't really gotten int AC outside some demos so it'll be fun getting into this

>mfw getting D on missions and not being able to redo them for better ranking

Maybe you should start with 2. I'd go with 1 myself.

>assume that I can save fiona and clarkson by not firing on the transport when ordered to
>rena comes in and takes the shot anyway

W-whoops.

Anybody know why I can't roll and pitch at the same time even with an analog stick?

Artificial replayability

acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Ace_Combat_3:_Electrosphere/GameShark

Just keep one save slot for the mission you're currently doing, they give you 6, might as well use them for whatever

What controller plugin are you using?

Anons what bios do I need to have to play this? I'm using every fucking emulator but it always gets a black screen and crashes instantly. plz help anons

I'll check those out later.
I just wanna be able to get into 3 while it's relevant with anons

Because this game wasn't made for casual babies.

You can redo them all at the very end.

>beat the game
>half my questions weren't even answered
>lol it was all a simulation anyway
It wasn't worth the weight.

emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/PCSX-Reloaded

Not worth it. Anons are faggots and always have been.

Remember to save in a different slot before and after every choice, so you don't waste too much time getting back to a branch point. And don't use save-states like a retard, the game has to save after every ending or you won't get the final one.

Some parts of the plot were altered or scrapped entirely during the development.

Be glad that it came out at the time when half-baked games with all relevant content packed into the first 20% of the game and "multiple endings" meaning three choices at the very last moment of the game were not yet the norm.

So I decided to check the cheats from and one of them was just named "unknown"(800BF65C 003B)
this is what happened
It just stayed in this level the whole time,no sound or nothing
creepy

what the FUCK was her problem?

She fell for the sublimation meme.

>Try to run it in SuperSal 2x just for shits and giggles on RetroArch
>It sounds horrendous

Is there any way I can at least increase the resolution without the damn picture & text pixelating to all hell?

>the GEOFRONT
>sublimination

these are my settings in mednafen HW

Is this retroarch thing new? I've never heard of it before

I suffer on an AMD system I Doubt I can utilize these settings.

>lol it was all a simulation anyway

the whole point is that all of the simulation outcomes are favorable, so shit goes down in the real world after the simulations are run, it's not like everything was meaningless

there's no point starting with AC1, AC2 is a straight upgrade in every way
better presentation, visuals, handling, missions

starting with AC2 would give a far better impression of the series, too

Anyone else get soft-locks with certain "Search" entries?

that's a known issue listed in the patch's readme

Not all of them are translated, and some (the first three, I think) will make the game crash.

does shooting down N.TGTs change the story or just fail the mission?

How the fuck did you get the R-808

Nani? I played Ace Combat 3 as a kid and it surely wasn't in Japanese
Why the fan translation?

Because the american version was fucking trash.

the Jap version is the full unadulterated version.

Baka.

>mfw this every thread

It's because the JP release was completely different and had an actual plot

The American version is heavily butchered, and EOPs finally get to enjoy most of the real game 16 years later.

>D rating
Fucking hell what is this based on?

what's the difference between easy and normal controls?

This greatly distorts FMVs for me!

What are "Search" things?

Also since some of them aren't translated while others crash the game, is there a web translation of all of them?

Mainly time, it seems like.

>Retroarch fails to save configuration everytime
>Crashes

What a hot piece of fucking garbage.

every. thread.

thanks s-sorry that was the only game in the series I've played

Time to D-rank every mission then

wait, wat

Found the Problem, PGXP Vertex Cache doesn't play nice when you turn it on.

...

I want to cum inside Fiona and take responsibility

yo what the fuck, that shit is terrifying. I'll see if that happens on my end.

stop wasting my bandwidth, you oxygen thief.

fuck off cunt

Thing is we don't know that, and there's no reason to believe Simon can predict all the things he pre-programmed into Nemo's simulation. But there's a lot of potential there since something is just bound to happen. Just not as we saw in AC3.

>vr

Heh

>エースコンバット3 エレクトロスフィア Ēsu Konbatto San Erekutorosufia

Yes, that's right. It's indeed the Ace Combat entry japs hated the most.

>Mednafen
>Retroarch

Enjoy your 320x240 locked autism emulators that don't even have GTE Accuracy, Perspective Correction, Vertex Correction or Widescreen Support.

>Widescreen mode hack on
>Stretching 4:3 games to widescreen
Holy fucking shit nigger what the fuck are you doing?

If Simon can simulate people, and the sim-Simon realised who Nemo was, does that mean sim-Simon knew he was in a simulation? And if that simulation was modelled X amount of time in the future, wouldn't sim-Simon also have run his own sims with a hypothetical sim-Nemo for an infinite recursion of madness?

it's not stretching, friend.

user..

What are you using fammo?

>being tech illiterate
This isn't a prerendered background game you retard.
Widescreen hack gives you proper widescreen FOV for everything 3D, only 2D elements remain stretched.

>stretches UI to widescreen
>thinks he has a valid opinion on anything

>2D elements remain stretched.
>Implying that still doesn't make it look like shit
>In a 90's game that already looks simple enough
Takes some mad autism to want HD resolution out of something like this.

So this is both discs?

You don't even notice it!!

user that's not ace combat advance

PGXP.

Nostalgianiggers, please get cancer and die and choke on your silky smooth 15 FPS 320x240 bag of dicks.

FUCKING LOL

SAVE THAT SHIT

yeah, PSP eboots include both.

Don't bother, the emulation purists aren't going to listen. Just let them have their purity and you play the game how you want.

You know retroarch's mednafen has all of the things you mentioned, right?

>You know retroarch's mednafen has all of the things you mentioned, right?
It didn't last time I checked, which grated was months ago but still. I still remember RetroArch's dev being a massive autist that said anything but MUH 1:1 PERFECT 320x240 resolution at 16bit dithered color is the only way to play.
Heck, he even was insulting GTE, Perspective and Vertex Correction back then saying "it's not accurate PS1 experience".

Fuck that guy.

I wish this game ran at 60 FPS.

Why are the edges of my screen glitched, m8?

BELKA CAN INTO SPACE

Still not sure about sim-Simon but I don't think they were going for sim-ception. There IS a file for Simon during the epilogue purging scene, so an AI Simon is in there but there are times when he simply speaks like a puppetmaster who knows the whole truth already (so real-life Simon imo).

Little thing though, I think we can narrow "X amount of time" to sometime between Yoko's and Dision's deaths (2030, source: her Search bio, and the cutscene too, but that's low-res) and 2040, which when this sim takes place.

You probably saw squarepusher posting on reddit or the emulation general, yeah? That dude's an asshole. There are some good dudes working on retroarch, you shouldn't let his word sully their reputation.

That's the game's view culling code. You're not meant to see those areas so they're not rendered normally, the widescreen hack shows them.

It does for me, dunno what you mean user.

So what is the advantage of widescreen hacks then? Is showing glitches like this all it does?

>It does for me, dunno what you mean user.
user, output framerate =/= framebuffer framerate.
The game clearly doesn't feel like a 60 FPS game, in fact almost none of PS1 games ran at 60 FPS. This is running at 30.

Isn't this considered to be the worst mainline game by the Japs?

still shows a bigger view of everything for me.

oh, I thought you meant your game wasn't running at full speed. I'll run with the internal framerate thing on and see what it says.

They think AC5 was the best game, their opinion means less than shit.

anyone have some tips on using mednafen on ubuntu?

and why it would be that? the game is fantastic. AC2 pales in comparison

Just tried on my PSP. Works perfectly, thank you guys!

Its plot was poorly received, mostly due to the twist at the end, yes.

Enjoy your flickering objects and incorrect depth you dumbfuck. You post a lot of screenshots but I wonder why you don't bother with webms :^)

>So what is the advantage of widescreen hacks then? Is showing glitches like this all it does?
A lot of games don't have a culling code.

Ace Combat is extremely well optimized and uses culling to make sure only the essentiall things are being rendered to maximize performance.
Another good example of PS1 game with culling is the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy.

Anyway with widescreen you still see more of the image, even if you do get to see the culling on the sides.
You can always avoid using widescreen in AC if it bothers you.

>You probably saw squarepusher posting on reddit or the emulation general, yeah?
Correct, guy literally put me off from ever touching RA/Mednafen with his tripfaggotry.
