SOTN

What a masterpiece.

Aged like fine wine

I can smell your fedora from here.

Nothing aged but the level design
What a botch

Thinking of picking up one of the DS titles. Dawn of Sorrow or Order of Ecclesia?

just get all 3.

OoE

Ecclesia

just say it this is what you want you sick fuck

I want tits and asses.

>360683165
Not a bad idea, I'm deploying, just want some good games.

All of them are good really.
I like OoE the best.

HYDRO

COOOOOOORN

Get all of them. They are all an improved version of SotN.

no, but, now i do want it

What is a fan?

see They should all be played. DoS twice, the second time with Julius mode.

Reminder SotN has poor weapon variety.

Why do you make this thread everyday? Do you want to force an epic maymay?

Symphony is a boring slog that ruined the series forever

What the fuck is that?

Water, 35 litres. Carbon, 20kg. Ammonia, 4 litres. Lime, 1.5kg. Phosperus, 800g. Salt, 250 g. Niter, 100g. Sulphur, 80g. Fluorine, 7.5g. Iron, 5g. Silicon 3g. And fifteen other elements.

Every single sword in the game has a special ability activated by doing a hadouken input.

EVERY sword. Most other weapons, too.

About to get this, only others I've played are HD and super 4
How does it compare?

youtube.com/watch?v=sPsQnsOHflc

I wish the hard type patches were more than just removing every fun aspect of the game instead of rebalancing them.

As soon as they find out what the next strongest weapon is, they remove it. Eventually they'll be left only with the red rust and then make it fail every time you try to swing it.

They had so much fun making this game.

future games were streamlined so they didn't allow time to have stuff like this and other little goodies anymore.

It's faster-paced.

The movement in Symphony of the Night is completely different from the classic style games.

But since you played HD you know what to expect.

why does the dog die in one hit

I agree.

So its like HD? Alright thanks

I recommend you get Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP, it includes this game with it plus it features content that was excluded from the localized PS1 version and the Maria mode from the Saturn version. There's reworked voice acting (such as Alucard being voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) but I'm sure a lot of people here preferred the original.

Because a cat would have dodged it

does Ritcher live in Simon's Quest town?

Greatest CastleKino ever.

...

No he's here on a mission

What filter/shader is that?
I'd totally use this.

...

Isn't a "hydro storm" just rain?

aren't girls with peepers just men?

Not fair.
That looks good on 80% of the females, and also a few men

This is my favourite castlevania

not many people have played it for some reason

whoops, forgot pic

...

Pretty sure even women have eyes.

>"""Sprites''''" rotate and move around on Z-Parameter, not lining up correctly
REEEEEEE

SotN has aged fine. But ageing like wine just implies that it has actually just gotten better with time.

Dawn of Sorrow controls a lot better though. Which shows pretty clearly that SotN could have been improved a lot if it had been made today.

Have fun if you own a PS1. Good luck trying to setup the PSX emulator. Shit never works.

tech illiterates shouldn't be allowed on PCs

Buy it off PSN.

>all weapons have a shit-ton of lag
>slower backdash
>no diagonal attacks
>reliant on touch controls gimmicks for boss fights
>DoS controls a lot better lol
???

le backdash shield face

Yes, the movement options are a lot more interesting on SotN than pretty much any other of it's successors.
Sorrow games have the bat, Sanic Panther and not much else.
SotN has conitious shield cancels, chaining Wing Smashes, the wolf, the super jump, etc

But really, that's to be expected. They are gimped portable games.

I don't get this meme

>everything that was old and good is either fedora or nostalgia
>everything ages like cum stains
First Post Worst Post

Half of things you listed were glitches

...

From the base game standpoint I don't think Symphony of the Night is the best Metroidvania. Severe balance issues all over and some pretty poor level design.

From the standpoint of finding and discovering all the little fun things it's probably the greatest by a wide margin. Maybe only Super Metroid is stronger just from the speed running perspective.

...

...

HYSRO storm

In my opinion, Portrait of Ruin > Order of Ecclesia > Dawn of Sorrow, but they're all good.
Dawn of Sorrow suffers a few problems though like a disappointing weapon system and touch screen gimmicks.

SotN on CRT.

Post places where mist could pass

...

It's not a filter/shader, but an image created using neural-style.

github.com/jcjohnson/neural-style

It allows a computer to composite two pictures, using the content of one and the appearance of another.

>too easy
>most areas are just long corridors with enemies
> no one hit kill falls or lava like in the classics

SOTN is great but the second castle kinda sucks because the music is literally on loop for the entire time

Also I wish there was a traditional NG+ mode, I wanted to get some of the super strong weapons but I had no motiv

wew

Just as the developers intended.

Jumps are a lot better.

How do I achieve this

...

...

irfanview

...

Anyone have a sound file of Alucard saying "WHAT" when he is poisoned in SoTN?

oh, it's post edited.
thought it was a neat filter

...

Isn't that just a Castlevania 1 remake?

>Reminder SotN has poor weapon variety.
The reason I don't like the later IGA Castlevania games is because they reduced the weapons/items so much. Not to mention Soma moves like a fucking axe armor compared to Alucard. Who swings a head over their head like a dumbass? And stops all forward movement when attacking in the air? Who designed this shit?

...

>no 1999 Julius game ever

Wait, Irfanview can do those sorts of filters?
I thought it was just purely image viewing software.

...

Its a port of the X68000 remake of Castlevania + a remixed version of that. So yeah basically its two remakes of the first game.

>And stops all forward movement when attacking in the air?

What? user, I think you were a victim of keyboard ghosting.

It's got filters under effects as well as resizing options and all that. Just can't draw with it.

That's what it says on the box and the wiki, but it's a completely different game. New bosses, new areas etc

It's even missing some points of the original and changed others

And 3 different versions of every piece of music in the game. But the best is the 90's synth

I don't have it off hand, but if you get the ISO you can go to Zophar's Domain and download --I THINK-- it's called "PSound" and extract all the voices and sounds from PS1 games.
Be warned, some are recorded in odd speeds and frequencies and multiple times in some games like C:SotN so you might have some work on your hands.

Soma stops all forward momentum when attacking in the air. While Alucard in SotN continues to jump forward and even allows for a quick second attack when landing. Play the games again and see.

...

Reminds me of Chinese art of clouds and stuff.

Are you retarded or something? You can move while attacking in the air and deal multiple attacks when landing as Soma.

...

I really think you had a technical problem, because I used to do the good old air-attack+ground attack combo all the time.

I haven't played it.

I unlocked it years ago in DXC and never started it.

I HAVE INTREST IN THIS

should have cropped the interface

You're not my mother!
