Can someone please explain to me why you guys think a Wii U rehash with detachable controllers is going to set the world on fire?

People (including children) these days have tablets and smartphones that do so much more for less money, why would they go out and buy another device and then spend even more money to play its games?

because they're merging their handheld and console divisions into one, and the marketing is actually good compared to the wii u's horrible marketing.

There's a chance it will have games.

>MH with a merged playerbase on a console and handheld
Im sold

Switch has:
Merged markets
An actual new Zelda game and new Pokémon mainline games confirmed
Actual marketing, even if the first teaser was stupid, normies understand the Switch is a new system
An actual decent name

Nintendo still can drop the ball and fuck everything with ancient online services or a horrible battery life, but until january 12, the Switch has the potential to be a decent system.

>all games from nintendo handhelds
>all games from nintendo consoles
>nintendo can focus on new things or forgotten ips instead of releasing sequels of the same games on two consoles in the same generation
If you don't get it you are retarded.

>Wii U rehash
how

have you seriously reached that conclusion because the switch has roughly the same shape as the wii u gamepad, is that the standard of reasoning here

how can you breathe and walk at the same time

>nintendo can focus on new things or forgotten ips
Nigga I would love to see some F-Zero, Metroid and some other stuff but stop deluding yourself.

3U for 3ds not having online was nonsense

Why even bother talking about it anymore? Until they decide they want to actually compete, they're just going to keep putting out an underpowered console with the lowest market share that is basically a zelda/mario machine.

What do you think nintendo will do with the extra resources from not having to duplicate every entry of their main series? That's a ton of extra man power.

We may not get f-zero or metroid but they'll do something.

This generation aside, underpowered consoles sell the most, so it's a pretty retarded post.

The wii outsold the ps3/360 because it had a brand new gimmick and parents were buying it for their kids.

You don't buy a wii/wii u to play great games. You buy it as a family machine. It's stale now and the switch is going to go the same route as the U. You're kidding yourself if you think the switch is going to outsell anything

And? How is that relevant? And are you 12 years old and don't remember previous generations? The gamecube was more powerful than the ps2 and sold less, same with the n64. There's not correlation between power and sales.
The switch will do great, but i guess we'll just have to wait. I'll enjoy your tears in due time.

People just suddenly decided they like Nintendo again. That is the sole reason.

I love these posts, just making it sweeter.
>We're going to get games now I swear!"

"Hey developer, can you make a game for us?"
Why would we do that? Nobody owns your console, we wont make any money.

Haha, I understand your reluctance but look at these sales! We outsold the ps4 and 360 combined!"
Yeah but your console is owned mostly by pre-teens and that limits the type of game we can make that will actually sell well.

That probably won't happen though. I'm with you, the switch is going to be amazing.

Cool post. Completely irrelevant to the discussion though. You're both wrong about nintendo consoles underselling due to their (lack of) power, and wrong about console power being correlated to sales.

Try again.

>Try again

It's less than half as powerful than a ps4. And will be directly competing with tablets. How's that?

It seems you are too retarded to understand the historic lack of correlation between consoles sales and relative power.

I am stupid, but I can read graphs

People have PCs too, which do much more than consoles, but people are still buying them. user, I don't think YOU understand how this market works, nobody thinks like Sup Forumsirgins do. Nobody cares if something else exists, they still buy something so long as it's marketed well enough.

You have to get out of this box and start thinking like a consumer, and at the moment you aren't.

...

>no handheld sales
>in a discussion about the handheld successor
Try again.

Who is going to make games for you?

the third parties who made games for 3ds? square, capcom, atlus, koei tecmo plus platinum

if you're trying to argue not being able to play the latest western AAA emotional cinematic experience is a negative then allow me to have a hearty guffaw at your expense

Because Nintendo does portable consoles well. It will replace the 3DS as the main (only) portable console on the market. It is actually a really smart move because there is no competition for them in the portable market, it's the perfect time to try out something new like having a portable/console hybrid. This is the smartest move Nintendo has made in years.
