My buddy got a yellow phat off of someone when he was pretending to be a girl. There was this whole thing where he made me change my character into a girl so I could be his maid of honor at their wedding at fally castle. Many dance emotes later, he was able to convince the dude to let him try on his phat and he immediately teleports away and blocks him while I feign ignorance. If only we'd have saved it for when it was actually worth a lot.

I found out my sister was taking nude selfies since she was dumb enough to save them on a "secret" folder. I got an editing program that scans the pc for all image files, and I found them. I'm not that much of an asshole so I only asked her to pretend to be me on voice chat so other people would believe I was a girl in exchange of not ratting her out to our parents.

It was easy as hell to catfish vanilla wow, or any other game between the mid 2000's and around 2012 or so I'd say. After that everyone started getting a mic and using TS/Vent and it got considerably more difficult. Nowadays just about everyone who's been online more than a year knows to get you in a voice chat before giving you anything, and either the game has native voicechat or they'll invite you to whatever program they're using and then the jig is up. You can still catfish but you have to be careful with your targets, you can't just throw out a girly name and some emojis and expect the money to come rolling in anymore.
