It's the same game just with a few more characters (half of which you need to unlock by buying DLC).
I'd say it's not worth it if you don't play online all the time.

The actual meat of the game is largely the same, just with additional characters and stages. But much of it is quite different, like the single player modes and multiplayer lobbies, which are now little miiverse worlds that you walk around in, walking up to arcade stations to play other miifolk.

There's also a bunch of single player stuff to collect like figurines and stuff of that nature. M.O.M. mode also returns. Pretty sweet new version, I say.

Lots of collectable shit for avatars/color palettes/pose mode/music/art. General / character tutorials & combo ideas.

If you have a mindset where you are frustrated losing online, or something of the like, I'd wait for a lower price.

Yes. If you don't buy DLC you only have 3 new characters compared to SIGN. And no colours, no system voice, pretty much no nothing.

If you're just in it for the single player stuff I say just pirate it. Content-wise not much separates it from Sign. New story mode, a few new characters, gameplay mechanics and new graphical effects.

Why is this a $50 standalone and not offered as a discount for people who own XRD already on steam? I understand how much of an upgrade it is but it's still a fucking expansion/DLC.

First you pick a different character and then you learn the other character you picked. Being a Jam main is eternal suffering. Don't do this to yourself if you ever want to win.

High-risk, low reward. Game built around knocking down and either amping your specials (which means you can't go for mix-up while you also let your opponent recover,) or going for mix-up's that don't work well for Jam since GG is a setup heavy game. She has very few tools to setup with.

Just curious, but do you guys actually think the PC version will last - as in, you don't think you'll end up with just ~100 people online at most? And are you honestly okay with the price being this high?
I'm sticking with the PS4 version, I got burned once when I tried PC Sign and I'm not falling for that again.

NYC is where the main GG scene is on east coast; then maybe philly. If it's north eastern, you're likely to get shit on. I say that at someone who regularly plays in the area. fucking sucks being the new guy.

I wouldn't jump onto the Steam version just yet. At least not at this price. I'd say even 100 people would be good. I played -Sign- the past 3 weeks with maybe the same 20/25 people who all shit on my chest.

Slayer/Ky. I don't know much about Raven but he's supposed to be good and pretty easy to play.

100 people worldwide is pretty damn bad, especially if you live in a tiny European country like me, since it would mean that there's probably only like 5 people near you playing.

I'd give her the Dolphin.

Sol, Ky, Sin, Raven, and Leo are the easiest characters to use.
Sol has high damage, an amazing DP, and great pressure.
Ky has arguably the best neutral game in the entire game, solid zoning options, and great normals for any situation.
Sin has fucking amazing damage and solid normals.
Raven has amazing oki and great mix-up, pressure, and some attacks with absurdly good reach.
Leo has extremely easy combos, high damage, some great mind-games with his stance, and a good full-screen punish with meter.

Well, personally when I am fightin a noob I will switch to a character I suck with. IE, in that lobby, I was playing one of my alts.
No fun in stomping noobs for free, might as well try to learn a new character while i'm at it.

To be fair, Capcom has crossplay. God, this game needs it.

Xrd is a bit more intensive.

With 4 frames of delay that shit is actually really hard to deal with.

what is a "oki"?

In order for that to work, they had to make a whole new network to serve as the intermediary though (CFN). Arksys doesn't have a following large enough to warrant making something like that.
