Space Hulk: Deathwing

This game is pretty awesome. Yes it has problems in MP but SP works fine for most people, which is what the game was made for in the first place. People hating on it are just neo-Sup Forums retards taking the opinion of TotalAsscancer seriously.

I'm enjoying it too.
The only issues I have had thus far (I am at level 7) are few frame drops I had here and there (not even when there were tons of nids around, just random corridors slowing down), and few glitchy textures.
The gameplay is fun as fuck imo, and quite challenging too, especially when the game starts throwing around multiple types of nids, that come from all directions.

Those invisible fuckers are the bane of my existence.

>co-op game has shit co-op
>also awful performance

Oh wow, I wonder why people hate it

Except i couldn't give a shit about total ass cancer, nor does the game run poorly on my pc and i loved eye divine cybermancy.

The game just isn't very good. Why are you so offended that people don't like something you do?

Its worth £10-15 no more. Repetitive, little enemy or weapon variety, head ache inducing strobe lighting flash from weapons, infinite ammo. Gets boring fast, which is sad since i love 40k.

Favorite mission so far?
Fucking mission 5 right now.

It's a singleplayer focused game, with a tacked on co-op.
I don't give a shit if people who expected a left 4 dead clone get pissy.
I wanted a modern take of fucking Space Crusade.

The one where you first enter the Dark Angels vessel.
The aesthetics are bloody great.

Yeah, the environments are Dark Souls tier. Even better.

Way better actually. And if you are a 40kfags they are simply orgasmic.

funny thing is that I don't even like the gameplay that much but oh boy, the fa/tg/uy sleeping within me cums bucket every door I open in this game

>game with hardly any sort of info gets released
>people see 4 space hulks
>assume 4 player co op campaign
>people buy it to play co op
>turns out game is designed for single player
>co op is broken and game crashes every 20 minutes

Yeah, I'd be fucking mad too.

> Repetitive, little enemy or weapon variety,
Have you played the single player?

Because it has quite lot of different enemies (basic stealers, hybrids, rocket/heavy gunner hybrids, fucking insible stealers that sneak up to you and backstab you to death, warrior stealers that spit acid, tanky as fuck stealers, psyker hybrids that shoot fukken lightning back at you, and of course, the brood lords), and even more weapons to pick from, not to even mention your psychic powers.

Though the various objectives are arguably quite repetitive, as most of them involve going somewhere, activating a screen, or putting something there, or waiting out and defending the area. More objective variety could have been nice.
Also, big part of the game comes from hunting down the relics in the map, while fighting of the stealers.

I want this so fucking bad, but no dosh available

>Can't spend 33 bucks but has a high end PC to run the game

Found the underage.
Ask your mom to get it for you for christmas

I'd wait for a sale anyway, plus there are bound to be patches making the game better within the coming weeks.

How do you see it as a SP-focused game with tacked-on multiplayer? I like the game too, but all signs point to it being the other way around: In SP you are bound to one class whereas in MP you can pick them, also most obviously the game's entire structure is heavily inspired by left 4 dead and vermin tide style games, which are multiplayer focused.

I had the same performance issues as the beta.
Refunded.

Wait until they fix multiplayer. Since the single player campaign is only slightly more detailed than multiplayer I was hoping to go through campaign on multiplayer but as it is I only ever get in to servers doing chapter 1 and disconnect 2/3 of the time. I randomly got in to a chapter 7 game but I got disconnected within minutes. I actually think the multiplayer worked better during the beta than it does now.

It was marketed as a singlepalyer game, almost all of the official trailers focused on the singleplayer.

>You play as a librarian commanding a squad of terminators
>explore the space hulk to find the lost secrets of the dark angels

It's definitely a singleplayer focused game with tacked on multiplayer.

Because all the classes in the MP are just the Singleplayer librarian, with stuff cut out of him.
You can wield EVERY single weapon of the game in the singleplayer.
And it doesn't really play at all like Left 4 dead.
There is no scavenging for supplies, no special infected to fuck you over, no linear maps etc.
The only thing the games share are the horde based enemies, and even they differ quite a bit in the way they behave.

As a game, Deathwing is far more about map control actually, than just surviving from wave after wave of generic mooks like L4D is.
The primary way you survive is by restricting the avenues of attack the genestealers have, just like in the boardgame, and there really are no "waves" of stealers. After they start appearing, they keep on attacking you from every angle they have nearly constantly, and the only way you can have some "peace" time, is either if you barricade a room where to stay to heal your team mates etc, or in single player, if you use the limited psy gates to replenish your squad.

The problem is that in multiplayer all of these are types of stealers spawn at complete random. I played a game where two of those psykers spawned at the beginning and two shotted a teammate with their lightning.

Really the game should have been marketed as Singleplayer.

this is a shill
there's no depth in the game, walk forward in hallways toward the next objective and mow down generic mooks as they appear

What level do you unlock the force axe? Also do you keep your unlocks when you move up to a higher difficulty after finishing the sp?

Why aren't my weapon unlocks saving in multiplayer?

They're not supposed to

>pretty average missions with short routes
>"ok guys, for the grand finale of the chapter feel free to roam around and kill shit!"
>Space Hulk: Tourismwing engage

Based Streum On.

It was marketed as a single player game.
There was pretty much no marketing at all for the Co op stuff.

>anyone who has an opinion I disagree with is a shill.

Come on m8.
Also, try playing the game on hard or above. If you don't watch your back, block routes, and command your squad to take defensive positions when the nids start swarming all around you, you'll lose fast.
Or, you'll get backstabbed by a sneaky invisible nid.

I'm really enjoying it. especially when you get a moment to start exploring hallways, and inspecting the environment before you get too wrapped up in it and some genestealers start sneaking up on you.
>awful performance
it's not amazing but I feel like people are blowing it way out of proportion.

If you watched any of the dev shit or read anything about it they made it clear from day one it was a single player game. But retards thought it was going to be Vermintide 40k not space hulk redone.

Keep projecting, faggot

Ok, thanks. I just presumed they would as the mace was unlocked from the start.

Are the healing abilities of the apothecary not supposed to save either?

No you're just straight up shilling, the game is nowhere near as in depth as you make it seem to be.

Except it does, because I have lost multiple times on hard because I forgot to pay attention to the things I mentioned.

Again, having an opposing viewpoint doesn't make one a shill.
Learn to fucking argue and articulate your point, instead of spouting Sup Forums approved buzzwords.

I hope they get the disconnecting issues fixed soon. The game is tons of fun but disconnecting from an MP server after two minutes sucks.

Try not quitting games after the first hour, when the kiddy gloves come out and you have to start using the tools given.

>ad hominem

Yhea whatever you say kid

It does require a good rig to play smoothly, even on medium settings. Most people can't afford expensive computers.

See that's just a waste of time because nobody here shares your point of view, everyone who has played the game knows how shallow it is.

>also most obviously the game's entire structure is heavily inspired by left 4 dead and vermin tide style games

when will this meme die?

How do you equip the new weapons you unlock in multiplayer?

You don't speak for all of Sup Forums faggot.
And this isn't some hugbox where only one opinion is allowed.

So again, actually argue, and articulate your points, instead of using buzzwords or trying to appeal to the "majority" views of Sup Forums.

i agree with him too.

fuck off nigger

You don't, your levels are only match by match basis, and they reset for each new match.

Sorry, I missread your question.

You equip weapons by opening your inventory by pressing i.

The MP is buggy as fuck, hell it felt better in beta.
I really want to like the game, but the performance is fucking awful, which is a shame cause they really fucking nailed the feeling of being on a space hulk.

And it's Streum On Studios who made EYE which I fucking loved.
I've managed to play it for 93min and I'm starting to think I'm going to refund it sadly, the only thing I'd lose is the re-skinned mace.

What is there to articulate? The game is shallow, you look where your objective marker is on the map, walk toward it, kill whatever aliens come in your way, press a button to complete the objective and then you get a new one. That's all it is.

BTFO DESU COMRADE

How many chapters is there?

im on chapter 9, but I've only explored 7 ships.
dunno if 9 is the last one

My only complaint so far about the single player is that the squad ai seems retarded. The Heavy Termie stands there while 5 genestealers skitter towards him and he doesnt even start to shoot. He just accepts his death.

Fuck ranged with the heavy. Give him lightning claws and he becomes a death god.

>The game is shallow, you look where your objective marker is on the map, walk toward it, kill whatever aliens come in your way, press a button to complete the objective and then you get a new one. That's all it is.

Yeah, and the challenge comes in actually getting to your objective in one piece, which isn't a guaranteed cakewalk you make it seem to be, because the genestealers will flank you, the hybrids will do their utmost to shoot you to bits with their rockets from afar, or later in game, zap you to death with their lightning psychic powers, and then there are also the other genestealer types like the stealth ones that can two shot you if they hit you to your back for example.
If the stealers have an opportunity to flank you, they will use it, hell, the fuckers also dodge shots constantly, by making small sideways jumps, or diving under your fire to get close to you and gnaw at your legs.

The game is about fighting against the attrition the stealer hordes cause on you, because you only have limited amount of heals, and psygates, and once they are used up, you won't get any more, at least in the singleplayer. It ain't a super complex game, but it is hardly super shallow either.

Besides, by your asinine simplifications, wast majority of games are "shallow".
I mean, what the fuck do you expect out of a SPACE HULK game, outside of fighting against Genestealers in cramped environments?

This.
He just blenders trough hordes with the claws.

But he's right.
You don't speak for everyone faggot

I refunded this piece of shit, game still has the same bugs and crashes since the beta.

Except you're wrong my dear. Everything is "shallow" when you simplif to its core game play.
An RTS becomes "kill the enemy base"
A SP FPS becomes "go from point A to point B"
A hack/slash becomes a click simulator.

I suggest you get on your way.

I finished Mission 3 but so far I found the game to be kinda boring.

Sure killing xenos is fun, but it's really repetitive. If I could switch between Terminators and be allowed to use more than just 1 weapon it might be better, but no option to do that.

Also the AI has been pretty dumb so far. They seem to love going in front of me and blocking my shots, or dying because the fucking healer won't do anything unless you tell him.

Also the relics don't do anything, which is really disappointing. Why even bother getting them?

>So I bought this car and I love it. They sell it with a flat tire and broken guages, but it's great!

I felt offended when the game ordered me to survive, then escort the fucking C.A.T. probe as it "hacked" doors, and after doing all that the game had the audacity to throw 3 broodlords at my face.
That is not good game design, that was a slog.

nah you're a huge faggot.

>Also the relics don't do anything, which is really disappointing. Why even bother getting them?

You get "willpower" increased. Whatever that means.

The relics are just secondary collectible mission, if you want to 100% the game

Could I run this nicely on my 1070 and i7 2600 and 12gb of ddr3 ram?

I think it's the XP.

Speaking of, it's fucking stupid that I can only upgrade my skills at the end of a mission.

The skills are so trees are so unbalanced it's insane.

Do you want to give your friends 10% more armour, or do you want a skill that spawns a fire tornado?

>single player has awful bots and couldn't win first chapter on hard because of them letting genestealers hit them XX time
>multiplayer is 90% locked with passworded lobbies unless you host with friends or accept to play with dumb pubbies for 40 minute

it doesn't matter which mode i pick, there seems to be a massive con

Maybe? It's a crapshoot until they release a patch.
That said, if you have the latest nvidia drivers you should be able to run it fine.
My 970 and i5 4690 can run it silky smooth, but I've heard of people who have just as good or better rigs having trouble.

Well we'll see I'll pirate it in a few week's to see them performance patches

>>single player has awful bots and couldn't win first chapter on hard because of them letting genestealers hit them XX time
>he can't manage his squad properly

Probably a smart idea. Something tells me that sterum probably didn't want it to be released yet, and the only reason it didn't get delayed again was because the publisher forced them to release it. Which is horrible on their part, it's almost always better to take time to get the game in a good state rather than just getting it out there.

Well if it gets better and is fun I'll buy it it looks gr8 though t b h

Has anyone gotten Virtual LAN working, or is the "LAN" option not real

just be sure whatever you're pirating will be the latest update of the game. a lot times people will just upload it once and forget it.

I will f a m I will.

>Virtual LAN
is this different from regular LAN?

Yeah like Hamachi/tuungle/evolve that shit.
Even when I check the "LAN only" box in the server list and refresh I still see all the internet games and nothing changes

>Hey I bought a motorcycle! Why does it keep crashing when I put three people on it?!

>Going through single player
>Unlock Lion's Nemesis from psyker tree
>Passive that lets me one shot enemies
>Equip thunderhammer
>Explode entire crowds with one blow
>Drop scythe variants with a charged swing
>STILL do worse than Barry with his lightning claws

Barachiel is like a parrying God while I get acid to the face every time a warrior strain gets with 10 feet of me.

Honestly the only power I really use is Inferno. With the Force Axe it's a horde clearer on a measly 10 second cool down.

>49% rating on Steam

KEK. Fuck off shill, nobody will buy this garbage game. People should play Doom and Shadow Warrior, not this autistic 40k retardation wannabe demon fps.

I quite like the codex mode in coop.

Streum On must have upped him, seeing how shit he was in the 17 min game play the released a while ago.
Hell he was already becoming a meme.

>Black Templars level
>Thought I was supposed to wait in one room until the fucklong timer ended
>die 8+ times
>timer about to finish
>mission failed!

Beside being a generic shooter with some Warhammer 40K lore elements, it has any innovative mechanic?

Will probably pick it up at a later date

How do you unlock these shits? I've gotten all the weapons and abilities for every class in multiplayer so far but none of them unlocked.

Level design and atmosphere, mostly.

stop posting this, Doom and SW are trash.

can somebody tell me where the ini file for this game is? i cant change the resolution above 720 in game

>innovative mechanic?
you mean dumb gimmick? I don't think so

Equip the force axe and suddenly you're playing as the team mage.

>zap motherfuckers every 4 seconds
>summon remote controlled fire tornadoes every 10 seconds
>clearing hallways without firing a single bolt
>have huge aoe nuke every 20 seconds
>nuke broodlords set them on fire, zap them and set them on fire again the fun of it.
>broodlords dont last more than 10 seconds

Mage is fun, but if god forbid anything gets in melle range, but until then have fun zapping mother fuckers and summoning fire tornadoes.

As heavy I unlocked something at level five, so it seems there is slightly more than is shown

>people should play Meme Warrior 2
are you literally a shill or do you just have the worlds worst fucking taste?

Fuck, the most I got to was level 4, once you hit 4 the exp required for the next level increases a shit ton.

Is the game capped at 60 FPS or am I not flipping the right switch?

Wait is this game fully out already? I thought it was still a ways off.

Game has performance issues, and I don't think Unreal has FPS limits. Wait for a patch.

>with a tacked on co-op.
This doesn't make the game look any better you know. EYE had the very definition of tacked on co-op, which was basically only there because the engine allowed it, and it still worked better.

your v-sync is off, right? I can get over 60, but it dips back below to the mid 50's during fights.

Yeah I got to lvl 5 at literally the last enemy of the level, so it's not easy to get that high.

Capped at 62, you can unlock it via config files.

How to do it: game-debate.com/news/21954/how-to-unlock-62-fps-frame-rate-cap-in-space-hulk-deathwing

You have to change something in the .ini file, but It's possible.

Cool, thanks.
