Okay, I really need someone to explain this to me. >Wild Arms 3 released October 15, 2002 >Suikoden 3 released October 24, 2002
Suikoden 3 only available on PS3 from PSN, but Wild Arms 3 is only available on PS4 from PSN and it got trophies added. Why? Clearly there is no difference in the technology to get these two running since they released at essentially the same time on the same hardware. Why did they do it like this?
Because Suikoden titles stopped selling after 2 and has no where near the amount of fans the wild arms fanbase has. That and Sony owns the rights to Wild Arms while Konami owns Suikoden so it's cheaper for them
Because PSN classic releases are disorganized trash. Suikoden III is the better game and there is some aversion to doing anything new for the Suikoden series that I am not aware of; probably some Japanese superstition.
Ryan Flores
>Suikoden 3 is the better game Hmm, I'm not sure about that. S3 is in my top 10 favorite games of all time, but I'm not sure it's actually better than WA3. I just beat S3 again the other day 100% and it was about 85 hours to do everything I wanted. I'm playing WA3 and just started chapter 3 and I'm already 30+ hours in, and that's not even starting the sidequest stuff proper. I would say there is more to actually do in WA3 in terms of gameplay where S3 has the better story but a lot of grinding and menu work.
Lincoln Nelson
>Suikoden III is the better game
Yeah I sure do love watching the same crappy scenes play out multiple times, oh wait no that sucked.
Jacob Myers
PS2 on PS4 games are mostly Sony, Rockstar and SNK for the most part Wild Arms is published by Sony, so they decided to put it on PS4 only. Suikoden belongs to konami and they aren't on board with the PS2 on PS4 games
Logan Clark
>Suikoden III is the better game
Yep.
Gabriel Torres
>has to watch scenes and read dialogue in a role-playing game
Caleb Hernandez
Wild Arms 3 was published by Sony. Sony put in the work to add trophies and shit because they wanted to put out a PS2 game for PS4 BC. Konami doesn't give a shit about that.
Jack Ross
>it's another suikautism thread
Blake Bailey
>Why did they do it like this? Because one is from Sony and the other from Konami. Konami has to first give a single solitary fuck to want to port it to the PS4. Grab a chair, it'll be a while.
Jayden Ward
>I did not play suikoden three but feel I can comment based on a sentence I didn't understand
Hey, moron. When I say MULTIPLE TIMES I mean the game literally makes you watch the same scene play out multiple times because. You will often see the same scene play out 2 to 3 times.
So shut up. Moron.
Cameron Baker
Don't kid yourself, WA is way more autistic than Suikoden. Suikoden is just easy pick up and play, the only bad part comes in when you're 100%ing it.
Caleb Williams
The only problem is that WA 3 in this case has exact same setup you're bitching about.
Camden Long
You hardly ever see wild arms fans being spergy as fuck though.
Whereas Suikoden. Well. Best thing this fanbase can say for themselves is that they aren't Trails'.
Nolan Carter
No, Wild Arms makes you watch DIFFERENT scenes than jumps back to a central framing device early on and then continues the story uninterrupted from there because the party forms early.
Owen Price
WA3 has a scene that happens for all characters, but the scene stops and the game goes back a few weeks, to introduce every character. Suikoden III has you watching the same scene three times because some events are seen by all characters.
Xavier Ortiz
I have played it an autistic number of times; so no. The scenes are from 3 different perspectives, and they reflect that typically. If it's rereading dialogue that bugs you then they make mario social boards on gamefaqs for a reason, you valueless idiot.
and the game is 14 years old.
Colton Parker
This thread reminded me how much I loved suikoden 3.
So underrated. What a good game. Sup Forums is the only place where I can find other fags who played this.
Hunter Jones
>I have played it an autistic number of times
Well at least you admit you're an autist.
>The scenes are from 3 different perspectives,
and they only ever diverge slightly.
>Hey Lulu you shouldn't attack that knight >I sure hope that kid doesn't attack me the knight
wow sure am glad we got to see that covered from every angle.
>If it's rereading dialogue then they make mario social boards on gamefaqs for a reason, you valueless idiot.
Yeah, Im the idiot because I can get the important elements from a scene once and would like to move on without everything hammered in multiple times.
Psst, did you get that Chris regretted what she did? Cuz we can show this argument from a different angle if you need extra help getting insight into her character.
Landon Taylor
this guy. read a hemingway novel if you want nuance it's a fucking jrpg.
Mason Cox
I played suikoden 2 , which i loved, and later on suikoden 4 on the ps2 , which i did not quite like...
Would i like suikoden 3?
Chase Baker
Yes.
Samuel Stewart
2>3>Tactics(yes)>1>4
Juan Rivera
Imo 3 is the best of the Suikoden games. 1 is good but really short, 2 is much better than 1 in every way. 3 is a lot better than 2 in a lot of ways but not as good as others. 4 is a fucking travesty. 5 is good but extremely slow and takes a lot to complete, so much missable shit.
Zachary Richardson
Hey it may be a JRPG but at least Wild Arms gives me enough credit that I only need to see a scene once.
And frankly I prefer Steinbeck
Juan Perez
Thank you, i shall try it.
Ryan Scott
I hope a cop has to pull your teeth out of a steering wheel.
Grayson Russell
man 4 was a right piece but fuck me if Tactics wasn't good fun. Im really glad it came out because I liked a lot of S4 characters and it's nice to see them get to be in a fun game.
Austin Ortiz
I'm glad someone agrees.
Dominic Peterson
>Birthday, Nov 2002 >Got both of these games >Had a great fall/winter playing 2 awesome RPGs
Why can't they make RpGs like these anymore...
Levi Barnes
Wow, goddamn, guy.
Jaxson Rodriguez
Man both these games are so fucking good, just emulate them
Mason Harris
Because the era of people wanting to invest 60+ hours into a single player experience is gone man. All games are made for casual audiences and need to be able to be finished in 10-15 hours. Also, it needs to have some form of online/social media aspect and multiplayer. Era is gone bro, unless you want SUPER weeb shit.
Justin Russell
Dude, I have both on disc on my desk and on PSN.
Charles Carter
Anyone else think suikoden 5 is the best in the series? Sure it has a slow start but once you are like 6hrs in that game is amazing.
James Jenkins
Seriously I know four gets a bum rap and it's not undeserved but there was some cool shit and it was good to see another game come puck up the slack
Evan Scott
Even weebshit nowadays can be finished in 20 or 25 hours. Some of those older games have padding out of the ass, take Okami for example. It's a 30-hour game that could be finished in less than 15, if just they didn't pad the shit out of it.
Luke Barnes
but seriously interdimensional goat hybrid protagonist and cannon that turns people into fish monsters.
I see nothing wrong with this
Andrew Diaz
My girlfriend buys all these weeb RPGs but they seem to take a long time. I want to get her to play some older JRPGs but she just wants to play this Atelier shit.
Joshua Thompson
goat MOM hybrid
Zachary Garcia
Thanks for the memories everyone.
Isaac Brown
Can i emulate WA3 decentLy?
Charles Rogers
Suikoden is owned by Konami, though. Knowing that fact alone is enough to put stress on the mind of even the most level-headed of fans.
Lucas Brooks
Just on account of it having more games. Wild Arms has 6 games, Suikoden has 7 released stateside, and a few that were not
Thomas Ramirez
>Suikoden III is the better game
Brayden Young
>that new Wild Arms game that's been hinted at for the past two years actually does exist >turns out it's actually a mobile game
Be honest, how'd you react?
Kayden Martin
I called this shit years ago. What the fuck did anyone else seriously expect? If Suikoden manages to somehow get a new game (it won't), it's going to be on mobile too.
Ayden Martinez
Raging that japanese devs aren't at least putting these cell phone games on steam
I know emulators are a thing, but I'd rather play an official pc release with mod communities and polish
And of course playing on a phone is out of the question, the battery dies in like 5 seconds. Like damn at least put it on VITA
Asshats
Mason Lopez
Played both but I was never able to finish Wild Arms 3, got bored near the end. How did the game end?
Liam Nguyen
How far did you get? Chapter Five starts out with a crazy pull where they seemingly introduce the BBEG out of nowhere, but she actually appears a whole bunch throughout the game. She's a demon, but not like Siegfried and the other actual metal ones, she's a dream demon who wants to transform Filgaia. In the end you kill her and save the world....Simple stuff really.
Thomas Young
Last thing I honestly remember was getting the second tier of special weapons after finding out about the main girls dad.
I might be mixing it up with another JRPG, this was around the time every JRPG started to run together for me.
As much as every one loves the PS2 catalog it was pretty much the death of the rpg to me, the market was just so over saturated. I was like 18 at this time and had already played the nes, snes, and pso eras of jrpgs, the tropes where in full swing around then.
Mason Watson
The prophecy from the beginning of the game was actually superimposed into Gallows brother by the dream demon Beatrice who is behind the scenes of every small minutiae of your journey.
She actually shows up 5 or 6 times throughout the game and you might remember hearing a small girl laughing during small key scenes.
Or when you first show up in a town, a purple haired girl among the NPCs that you can't ever find after seeing her quickly in a cutscene.
Basically, she's like a Filgaian archive or some shit iirc, left behind by the old Metal Demons.
After killing the prophets and ziekfried she reveals herself and her plan to become the mother of her own Filgaia, and had been the one behind manipulating the Yggdrasil project all those years ago causing it to backfire and suck all the life away from Filgaia instead of restoring it.
She also manipulated the dreams of the Ark cult leader dude to get him to find and gather artifacts to fulfill her goals, and was the one behind the rise of the prophets and Ziek.
She can only exist in the subconscious of beings in Filgaia and wants to make her own that she can live freely in like a real person. Turns out the consequence of doing so is getting rid of the current Filgaia.
