The King's personal guard and special task force is comprised almost entirely of immigrants from war torn countries surrounding Lucis. These people stab him in the back resulting in the fall of Lucis. Ravus tries to put the ring on at some point in the movie becuase he's a butthole and his arm turns to ash, Luna gets the ring and escapes the city on foot amidst a throng of refugees, but only after the hero of the movie saves the day destroying the Omega Weapon that the Nifs unleash on the city ensuring that you won't get to fight it in the main game unless they introduce it as DLC... was that everything? I think so.

2 extra hours wont kill you. Considering your investing 40-80 hours on the game. Just watch it.

Not really but you get much more exposition.
Plenty of explanation about politics, Nif conquest, King Regis and his crystal power.
Plus there are some nice action sequences.
Movie starts shortly before the peace talks and Nif betrayal and ends roughly when when Noctis reads about Insomnia falling.

The only good parts of the movie(Aaron Paul telling the KotR to go fuck themselves and t
Epic kaiju battle) are at the end.

Also FFXV main plot is a disjointed mess at BEST. Only reason it didn't completely tank is because the road trip stuff kinda works(more for some than others) and the combat is okay.
