In XY, no matter what you do, your first Mega Evolution will ALWAYS be a Lucario, since a gym leader's Lucario just decides it likes you more than its original trainer. I mean, I fucking like Lucario and that pissed me off because I already had a fucking Lucario but I still had to use another random ass Lucario that wants in my Party.

That's not even considering it's one of only two non-legendary Pokemon to have its own movie, Lucario Rank was the highest rescue rank in the original PMD games, and it was basically treated as the mascot of the Gen IV games, in a way that no other Pokemon has ever really done.

Honest answer: the main reason the term "Lightning" even exists is because of analpained Daisyfags that couldn't stand that Rosalina was chosen as the secondary female over Daisy. If Daisy were the one they started pushing this term may have never come to be.

The fact of the matter is that Pokemon is a modular series and if they feel a design is marketable, they will push that monster on the forefront.

At the same time, it's because later game installments that they give some Pokemon a little love than the fanbase might due to power creep and late game signature moves.

Plus there's a lot of viable monsters with design aspects the games can't properly utilize in gameplay, so it helps for said Pokemon to have a gimmick to consider them roster-worthy.

Wario is not a Miyamoto or EAD made Mario character.

Judging from the current direction of Wario games, it doesn't seem like he'd be a proper addition since he's not really a hero, he's a convenient jerk. It's like expecting Sam and Max to kick ass and not screw the world up in the process, honestly.

Yoshi isn't in the game but there's the Plesiosaur that looks kind of like him in those Slide Music levels.

Again, EAD made character with an active role. Not a lot of that happens in Mario since it's usually spin-offs that introduce new characters and said characters are never properly fleshed out as the games coming out of EAD.
