What does Sup Forums think about tube TVs for gaming? I see a lot of Fighting Game players using them & thought I'd ask.

They're ideal for anything you can properly connect to them.
Analog is unbeatable when it comes to reducing input delay.
Everything is hardwired together, and nothing needs to be digitally translated, so performing an input on your controller instantly performs said input on the TV
>The switch will be the first Nintendo Console to Drop Analogue video
>Can't play virtual console games on the switch through a Tube TV
End of an era man. I know the Wii & Wii-U have pretty much every VC game I could want, but I hate that I don't have the option anymore.
Using them for old games before consoles came with HDMI ports is ideal however you should avoid composite inputs when possible and opt for S-Video or ideally RGB inputs.
Do stores even carry them anymore? I'm checking craigslist & there's surprisingly few in my area.
>nothing needs to be digitally translated,
"translating" isn't the issue, it's that digital systems usually have some form of frame buffering somewhere and sometimes additional processing on those buffers.
2D consoles (i.e., pre-5th gen) had graphics chips rendering each pixel sequentially in step with the electron gun of a display (whether straight RGB or modulated through NTSL/PAL radio signals and back), handling a small maximum number of background layers and per-row sprites.
It's not per-pixel translations that cause issues but display-side buffering meant to give LCD controllers more information about a frame and a better chance to futz with subpixel voltages to control ghosting/reverse ghosting/whatever.
why Sup Forums doesn't understand jack shit about technology?
Can you blame them? Most of Sup Forums has probably never soldered a thing in their life, let alone taken any basic electronics courses. Most of Sup Forums won't even build a PC because "it's too hard", when it's just plugging in pieces to a motherboard.
Is that comment pasta? because I remember doing the exact same consideration responding to a post once
But still, I'd expect even a retard to know that in any console there was a /digital/ CPU between their controller and their TV
Good for anything that doesn't go over 480i.
Then there's the FW900 that's good for everything after that.
0ms highest refresh rate achieveable, what happened crtbros?
>2,304 x 1,440 maximum resolution
That's fucking impressive for a tube monitor. Shame they're so expensive.
>Get to eliminate lag
>Turns out it was the shitty Wii wireless controllers that were causing the lag in the first place
So this is why super smash bros. players won't use wavebirds then huh?
>randomly buy a wii
>didn't know versions that don't have gamecube support
>play wii sports
Emulators also add lag.
There are wired controllers for the emulators on amazon and shit
How is Kana nowadays?
Don't leave me hanging on an edge, /jp/. What happened to that poor girl atfer march?
No one knows. After the article was published, she went into hiding because of all the autists trying to find out more and contact her.
I played emulators on my Wii all the time and never had that bad an input latency.
IT'S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY
>naruto
If only he lived to realize that he jumped off a building over such shit taste
I own a red wii mini. Don't laugh...
My uncle has an old TV collecting dust in our house's attic and since i found out i felt tempted to snatch it and use it to play PS1/2 and Xbox games
But i'm too afraid he might get mad about it plus i don't really have space in the house right now, thing's big
Never got why all of the FGC doesn't just use CRTs if they're that concerned about lag. Its not like you cant hook up PS3s to them natively. Not sure about PS4 though.
She graduated,so the train stopped coming.
>Smash
>Fighting game
Nice try OP
>Japan
>anything remote
How? It's a fucking small island.
Are you playing on virtual console?
You can use nintendont hacks to use the Wii U adapter with GC games. But yeah you need to look out. I think the later ones that were bundled with NSMBW or that are black usually lack the GC ports.
Retroarch and Dolphin are fine
Because PS3s have built in lag. It's a whole other problem.
lol
same, I have like 10
