Final Fantasy XV

Why was it a mistake for SE to turn Final Fantasy Versus XIII into Final Fantasy XV, putting Tabata in charge of the project and moving Nomura onto Final Fantasy 7 Remake? Now that FF15 is out, Final Fantasy can finally move on after a disastrous, decade long odyssey.

The actual big mistake was cutting so much content in the final release. Why not delay the game so it's complete?

Hardly, there were threads with people talking about the actual game and how much they liked it like yesterday, today is the only day I see mostly negativity here since the game came out.

His right though, Tabata is a pragmatic kinda guy and less of an artist with a vision, the cut content in XV refers mostly to story content, but in actual side content there is much care and effort put into it, you can not look at Pritioss Ruins and call the devs lazy or that they didn't care about what they were making. Any fag that says "the game was better off cancelled" is a retard that fell in love with CG trailer and marketing for 10 years.

Funnily enough XV should utopically take a longer time to develop, if it released in 2018 then the game would be perfect storywise. Sadly since we are talking about a project that took 10 years to produce and in those 10 years only 3 were spent actually developing it, that would be financially impossible.

The project Versus XIII started ten years ago, it started full production in 2011 but then they restarted development from scratch in 2013 with the directors shift and the title change. People waited 10 years for a product that only started being produced for real in 2013, 2011 development didn't lead anywhere and got scrapped.

I just found the game boring to play. I went into it with an intention to like it as much as possible. I actually was initially enjoying myself until it became apparent that there is literally nothing happening in the vast open world. Sure, you can repeat the same fetch quest over 100 times or complete some of the identical hunter missions but that gets old very quickly.
Its not even really the lack of diverse content but more-so the utter failure to include any interesting reason to bother with the side content, yeah go and kill X monster...but WHY? what makes that particular mob any worse than the other 600 identical mobs? other open world games give you some motivation beyond leveling up or getting 100% completion. You can skip every single aspect of the side content and walk away with the exact same understanding of the world than someone who did do it all.

Open world was a massive mistake and I honestly don't see how anyone can defend it.

Hunts are useful for gil mostly, myself I enjoyed the dungeon crawling in this game a lot. The last time a game gave me a fell I was actually entering a dungeon that there may or may not be a way out and I was fighting through the skin of my teeth and managing my resources was in TES II: Daggerfall.
