daily reminder that when the next elder scrolls comes out and it's inevitably more casual than the last like FO4 you'll all say this game was good

Sup Forums won't say it's good, but they will praise it for being better than the utter horseshit that TESVI is destined to be at this point.

>more casual than Skyrim

Is such a thing even possible?

yes. its called fallout 4 you fucking retard.

Level 1: Increase Damage with Bows by 20%
Level 2: Increase Damage with Bows by 40%
Level 3: Increase Damage with Bows by 60%
Level 4: Increase Damage with Bows by 80%
Level 5: Increase Damage with Bows by 100%

Wrong. Fo4 wasn't more casual.

Can Bethesda actually catch up to the magnitude and polish of modern RPGs like The Witcher 3? They're behind in mechanic aspects like animations by at least a generation at this point.

I still buy pre-order with top money.

Sure. All they need to do is some investment in staff and technology and they have some deep pockets right now.

They are running around claiming that's exactly what they've done but I'll wait until they have something to show before I believe it.

skyrim is horrible and i'll tell you why i hate it

>rpg where your decisions have no impact on the world

>dungeons are all the same

>enemies scale with your level

>there is absolutely no skill or fun in the combat system

>uninspired magic system, they literally made it worse as the series went on

>npcs are beyond forgettable

>colors and textures look like shit

>towns look like shit

>cities have less than 20 inhabitants even in the biggest ones

>character customization has nothing interesting in it

>they made the dragons into wyverns, they actually dont even know what a dragon looks like in their dragon based fantasy game

some of the quests were okay i guess, but again finishing a quest that you'd think would affect anything really doesnt

now plz explain to me why people like it, because i know people like it. I just don't know why

Alright Sup Forums, Todd has put you in charge of lead game design for TES VI with a single objective in mind: Make VI even more casual than Skyrim or Fallout 4.

How do you accomplish this? What do you cut?

It is good. It's great. A case could be made to call it one of the best games of all time by several metrics. I prefer Morrowind, don't get me wrong, but the whole "Skyrim is shit" meme is laughable.

Absolutely not. That would require something like the wont to create a good game and devotion to a hard work ethic. They've demonstrated multiple times that they've absolutely no head for that sort of thing, and are just trying to make money as easily and quickly as possible.

id agree with just about all of that.

the only slightly memorable quest for me was the thieves guild questline.

>schools of magic all fall under a general magic tree
>no distinction between heavy and light armor
>bows don't have gravity

There are an unbelievable amount of ways you could further casualize TES.

on that note how casual is TES:O compared to skyrim and is it actually worth purchasing?

Do you really think the magic system is worse? I thought that's one of the things they actually made better as you can at least have a sword and blast ppl with fire at the same time or do you mean mana regen?

Skyrim is only good for mods

Skyrim is already great. nay, fantastic.

As far as MMOs go it isn't all that terrible gameplay wise, there is a lot less customization for playstyle and all ranged attacks lock on to whatever you're aiming at. Honestly I think it does exactly what you expect for a mix of Skyrim and an MMO. That being said there are a few interesting things to do with combat, and if you have friends to play it with it's better than a lot of MMOs, wouldn't recommend it if you don't have friends to play it with.

>It is good. It's great. A case could be made to call it one of the best games of all time by several metrics.
why do I even come here anymore

It would be worth it to get to see the Numidium commit elf genocide in HD

>Caring about Bethesdacrap after Witcher 3 came out

Lmao you Bethesdrones have such high hopes of your shit company. You keep eating their shit.

>6 hours ago I decided I'll play Oblivion through with mods because I haven't played it on PC before
>Installing the mods from a guide on tesgeneral
>Pretty easy

Can't wait to play it again

Skills. Everyone can do everything with the same effect, and levels just provide more HP and Magicka, which we will also just start calling MP for simplicity.

i already say it's a good game. it's nearly identical to oblivion, which i already loved, but more polished and with a much more interesting world. skyrim is a good game.

Remove stamina

Holy shit, you people are fucking stupid. I'll come back in four more months just to see how right I still am.

I like the armor and armor crafting system exponentially more than Skyrim. For armor in TESO you have light, medium, and heavy. Armor consists of head, shoulders, arms, torso, legs, and feet. You can craft in any of the racial styles with any material. It just adds a lot more variability. Combat isn't quite as fun and it's pretty lame to have a dozen other players talking to the same quest giver whose dialogue makes it sound like you alone are their only hope, but it's fun.

I'm pretty excited for the inevitable Vvardenfell DLC.

You'll be the only one who even remembers the thread, you sad faggot.

Wrong. It absolutely was more casual.

>rpg where your decisions have no impact on the world
It does.

>dungeons are all the same
No...

>enemies scale with your level
Which is bad why?

>there is absolutely no skill or fun in the combat system
Try playing on higher then the lowest difficulty.

>uninspired magic system, they literally made it worse as the series went on
True

>npcs are beyond forgettable
True

>colors and textures look like shit
Mods, fag.

>towns look like shit
Mods, fag.

>cities have less than 20 inhabitants even in the biggest ones
Mods, fag.

>character customization has nothing interesting in it
Sorry you can't make your character a transgender furry. Oh wait, you can. Why are you complaining really?

>they made the dragons into wyverns, they actually dont even know what a dragon looks like in their dragon based fantasy game
kys

Different fag here, haven't played Fallout 4 at all, but how so? I thought Fallout 3 was alright but had flaws. Never played New Vegas either but I hear I should.

Should I get vanilla Skyrim or the enhanced edition?

>No race bonuses
>No light/heavy armor, just armor
>Swords and greatswords and Bows
>Steel, Glass, Ebony, Daedric only
>Perks are automatically given to you, once you hit that certain level in that skill
>Everything is a simple % buff
>Only one light attack
>Magicka is now Destruction, conjuration, and Restoration
>No more scrolls
>No more carry weight
>No puzzles in dungeons, its a straight line

consider myself a level headed individual but seeing people say that skyrim is a "good game" makes me angry.
Literally no part of the game was done well (apart from the dlcs) and it was obviously released before it was finished.

>>enemies scale with your level
>Which is bad why?

Not him, but usually when people play RPGs they want a feeling of progression. They want to feel like their character has gotten stronger over time. When you scale all the enemies you never really get that feeling of progression that other RPGs give.

enhanced version is the better buy for the future.

>stop liking what I don't like

>rpg where your decisions have no impact on the world
>It does.
Not really. Civil War is the only thing that matters in the long run

>enemies scale with your level
>Which is bad why?
No natural progession

>colors and textures look like shit
>Mods, fag.
Mods can't be used as an excuse. Mods add to a game, not fix it

The problem isn't that the next game comes out, you play it, percieve it as utter shit, then go back to the previous game which is good by comparison.

No
The problem is you see a fo4 trailer, you get hyped, you play it, it doesn't live up to your hype, and you bitch about it, then you play it down the line and it's better than you remember because you're not steaming with rage anymore.
Go play fo4 right now and you'll enjoy it.
All bethesda games are equally bad under the most objective microscope in the world.

>confirming that you are indeed retarded
Wew.

I had almost no expectation for F4, and still hated it. It had even less variety than Skyrim somehow

yeah actually. If you like literall shit then you will be catered to because shit is easier to produce than diamonds. So when you settle for shit less people will make good games and everyone suffers.

just about every part of the series has regressed since daggerfall. You couldnt even barter in skyrim or oblivion. I mean thats just plain STUPID.

The fact you had ALMOST no expectations is enough to ruin it, if you've played a tes game or a neo-fallout before it you had expectation's bare minimum it had to be as good as those games in the categories those games were good at.
I'll tell you right now someone playing it as their first tes or fo game will love the crap out of it, it's inevitable.

I already like skyrim

People here are retarded.
You have to try really hard to like Morrowind too. Just in the other direction.
Not that any of the people shitting on skyrim have you actually played morrowind.

People here hate it because it is popular.
You will grow out of it.

>Go play fo4 right now and you'll enjoy it
I literally just sat down after trying to replay it for the first time in months. Couldn't. Just couldn't give a shit about the heavy-handed backstory Bethesda forced on me, couldn't give a shit about the Power Armor they handhold you into, couldn't give a shit about the crappy dialogue choices, couldn't give a shit about even getting to Diamond City.

I thought back to my times playing other Fallout games and how I could decide to fuck off for a little bit before jumping into the main quest, but you really can't do that in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 has no replay value.

Oblivion sucked, and Skyrim sucked harder, but it didn't make me appreciate Oblivion. KYS.

Have mods fixed the shitty gameplay and animations yet? It's been like 2 years since I've installed Skyrim and I sorta want to go for another playthrough.

I really want some some fun magic but a total overhaul would be nice too. What's the recommended setup these days?

There are areas that are more difficult and that you normally play later, when you got better skills (100 smithing + enchant) and better gear like spellbreaker etc. apocrypha is an example. Who cares what level the "never should have come here" bandits are?

People here play on novice and then assume the game sucks, when you can't really appreciate the game and game-mechanics on a difficulty lower then master.

Yeah each game gets worse than the one before it, except as much as I loved Daggerfall when it came out, it was a bug-riddled piece of shit. Morrowind is the peak of the series. I wish they'd go back to the complexity of Daggerfall, though. Also for some reason I enjoyed Skyrim more than I enjoyed Oblivion despite believing that Oblivion is objectively the better of the two. But anyway man, normies are going to like normie shit. You shouldn't let that provoke an emotional response.

>but you really can't do that in Fallout 4.
You can do it equally as well in fo4 as you can in fo3 and to a lesser extent new vegas, just walk east instead of following the waypoints.

I don't hate skyrim exactly, just all the abilities they removed and the bland as fuck dungeons and enemy variety.
Skyrim did some really neat shit with the lore and books.
People mostly complained about the guild questlines, and how you have to join the thieves guild to progress the main story. Which was just a poor design choice.

Try "progressing" through the mask wearers for example at level 10, and on master/legendary difficulty setting.

Skyrim combat is some of the worst combat in RPGs, not to mention all difficulty does in Bethesda games is inflate HP levels and damage. And name 1 area that you can't take on at lvl 1 or 2.

>People mostly complained about the guild questlines, and how you have to join the thieves guild to progress the main story.
You don't have to.
That is just if you blindly follow the questmarker.
I asked the innkeeper who led me to another innkeeper who I had to fight and then he told me
Because I was playing a lawful paladin type character so joining the thieves guild was out of the question

Love how this guy try's to say modding is a reason the game is good. It's literally the opposite. If you have to mod it for it to be enjoyable then it's shit. You can polish a turd all you want but at the end of the day it's still a piece of shit with shine. (Shine that a modded made NOT Bethesda.)

An unarmed skill would've been great.

I miss getting my ass kicked or barely surviving then coming back later or facing a similar opponent later and not getting my ass kicked. Only think I felt that for remotely in Skyrim was Dragon Priests. Dragons needed to be 10 times rarer and ten times more dangerous.

>Next game will have the ability to Fast Complete quests
>Skills condensed to combat, magic, and stealth
>Also, the player now has the Essential flag
>When you run out of health, you take a knee and get back up a few moments later

There's one in PerMa.

>>When you run out of health, you take a knee and get back up a few moments later
Thank god, I had to mod that into skyrim, dying and loading just takes you out of the game, I want to get kidnapped and raped by the bandits who defeat me.

Unarmed skill is retarded, good luck fighting swords with fists

>it does
To a shit extent, even big changes go under the radar no thanks to shallow charactersand forgettable npcs

>No...
Not literally, and there are one or two spectacle dungeons like the giant underground dwemer cave town. But the simplistic dungeon designs, large chunks of reused assets and overall lack of variety makes dungeons feel sickeningly samey.

>Which is bad why
Too many rounded off edges, as well as being so janky that early level enemies are too squishy and dragur deathlords in the later game are just damage sponges which can disarm you. Some people would prefer if canon dictated enemy difficulty, and not playtime.

>try playing on higher then lowest difficulty
TES games do not have strategic combat, TES gsmes don't have punishing combat, it has easy combat with lots of freedom of movement. Since oblivion the combat system is a dice based combat system with misses removed and left down to player error. The AI runs at you, or snipes you, you run at it, or snipe it, and click a lot while taking inventory breaks to drink potions. I'm sorry but even OG TES fans can tell you the series has pretty crap combat

>muh mods
Do your job todd, players should not be relied on to flesh out the game world, graphical improvements and some extra content sure, but that's not an excuse to downscale cities to towns and call them the same thing, people want cities they can do just as much in as they can outside of them, lust look at the cities in Morrowind and Oblivion.

>oh wait you can
you're right here, skyrim's character creator was nice for a TES game, no more potato poeple, more nice looking people

>kys
he's not wrong, but arguably the TES universe doesn't have to abide bysome universal fantasy setting rules, it'd be nice if they did make 4 legged dragons though

Even witcherfags will admit Skyrim is good when TES6 comes out, because then it's no longer cool to hate it.

> you'll all say this game was good

I already do.

>playing skyrim with PerMa
>playing unarmed
>guy comes at me with a sword and shield
>attacks me with the sword
>perfect parry to steal his sword
>punch him a few times to burn his stamina
>he starts blocking
>steal his shield
>he tries to fist fight me
>beat the shit out of him with my glass claw weapon
>he runs to the nearest sword
>suplex his ass
Mods fix everything

>what are armored gauntlets
>not sneaking up and snapping necks

Same here. It's the only game I ever bought on release day and didn't have regrets about doing so.

>bland as fuck dungeons
you mean oblivion

>Spend entire game swinging a one handed sword
>Find a cool looking two handed sword
>Player Character can't figure out how to use it and makes it shit

One handed and two handed was a mistake. Bring back Blunt and Blade. That distinction actually makes sense.

Nigger, what? There's a dungeon in Oblivion with a hidden fucking pirate ship in it (and the entrance is behind a fucking waterfall at that) Oblivion had some amazing dungeons.

theres been a one and two hand since morrowind.

There's also one hidden pirate ship cave dungeon like that in skyrim.

>you no longer have dialogue options
>you pick what type of character you want to be at the beginning of a play through and the game adjust accordingly

"We wanted to speed up slow conversations so you could get back into the action faster!" _ Todd Howard 2018

>he never had to fight painted trolls in a painted world with arrows made of turpentine

>every normie in the face of the planet will parrot that this game was good

Fix'd.

Skyrim barely had any dialog options, so this is practically a certainty.

No I mean skyrim.
They looked nice, but 90% of the time they were just one long corridor.
There were a handful of good ones like blackreach.
At least oblivon's dungeons had converging paths and reasons to go explore them. Out of all the dungeons I went through in skyrim, only the ones required for daedric quests or certain guilds had decent rewards.

Even the dwemer ruins in skyrim were mediocre compared to the other games.

No, there was a distinction between knives and swords.

But user, Oblivion is already more casual than Skyrim.

The only remotely good dungeons in skyrim were the ones that had those dragon priest boss fights.

>two handed
>morrowind
n'wah what the fuck game did you play?

>fallout 4 isn't more casual

Every one of them has one if you are high level enough.
I liked that outside dungeon in the mountain range in the south nobody ever does.
