Not really a missed opportunity when the series kept doing worse and worse as the games went on and when Trauma Team bombed worldwide. It hurts, I know.

Is the genre inherently bad, though? Just because most of the media in the genre is poorly-written pap doesn't mean it can't be done well. If it is isekai, then I expect it to play to some of the popular tropes, but I'm sure it'll still be a grade above pretty much everything else.
