Wii-U is actually a great system and my favorite this gen (I own all three), but realistically speaking they've dug themselves into a financial hole with their marketing. Talk to any normie or non-Nintendo fan and ask if they'll pick up a Switch, most of them see Nintendo as a dated publisher unable to procure the types of games they wanna play.

Tons of people still have the misconception that the only thing Nintendo does are Mario and Zelda "rehashes" and Nintendo hasn't done much to offset this image since the Mario style is becoming more homogenized and certain niche franchises like Metroid and F-Zero are in hiatus.

In the end, I'm thinking that only the kind people who bought a Wii-U will buy a Switch, and I'm not altogether sure if it'll be as sure as that. A lot of Wii-U owners feel a little burned by the dropped support right now.

The fucking tremendous amount of coverage and downloads that the recent mobile games have gotten show that people DO still care about Nintendo and their IPs, they just haven't made something that people were willing to buy.

You can say that again. I was never a fan of Star Fox so there's been literally no game I give a fuck about coming out for Wii U all year, the only time I booted it up in 2016 was to watch shit on Netflix. Literally the only game to look forward to is Zelda, and it seems like the Switch will get the best version of it, along with a bunch of enhanced ports of Wii U games. It really feels like Nintendo is telling Wii U owners "thanks for staying loyal and beta testing all these games that we can make better for our new console, suckers! Now buy them again!"

As a Wii U owner, I feel no incentive to shell out money for a Switch. Especially since there's a chance it flops too and I get double shafted.

They're one of the few who shat on Sticker Star, said Mario Maker 3DS was a waste of time, and basically said TP:HD is a pile of shit. If they're fanboys, what does that make sites like Nintendo Life?

There's a lot more to a GPU than just clockspeed, and we don't know anything else about the rest

I'm STILL scratching my head over how everyone is making such a huge deal about specs when Nintendo games have literally never been about that in the first place. It's like saying a bush sucks because it's not a tree.

Theres no one btfo anywhere. It will matter a lot anyway. WiiU already failed because people who owned the Wii had enough of one console being behind the times too much, and the Switch will just fall in line with that.

By now most people have realized that Nintendo making good games with outdated graphics isnt really the best choice when other consoles offer good games with up to date graphics and technology that isnt years behind.
Sure Zelda, Smash and so on will sell the Switch but only to a certain margin.

For the market itself, the GPU does certainly matter.
