I like the system mechanics alot but every character in that game is so damn awful to play it kills it for me.

It seems you misunderstand.
A lot of the community touts the whole arcade- > stick even if you didn't play in the arcades. Inputs get hard for pad players, people say it's cause pad, they look at stick options and go no further.
