What JRPG are you playing over Christmas, the official JRPG Holiday?
JRPG
Skies of Arcadia. Gamecube version because fuck that encounter rate on the Dreamcast.
Just finished The Thousand-Year Door for the first time last night, great game.
I'm long overdue for this and Apocalypse. Just beat the naked plant titties lady.
you have fantastic taste, user. In a board full of turbocunts you stand out as a pretty ok guy.
Xenoblade Chronicles.
Ao no Kiseki
It honestly feels like I never stop playing it.
FFTA
I am going to finish up DQVII (hopefully) and start Terry's Wonderland. I need to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles & SMT4:A at some point as well. Any one have recommendations on which I should play?
>Spam burning hearts to win : a game
I'll keep playing Kartia
Finally able to play FFXV
Growlanser II
I'm killing all my friends for Christmas
>still being young enough for holiday breaks to matter
That said, probably Digital Devil Saga duology.
I might replay P4.
Where does OP mention break?
Persona 5 and SMT IV.
Radiant Historia.
>then finish her off
Does this mean you gave her an orgasm or killed her?
Is this one of the early SMT games? Or what is it?
SMT IV:A
I need help, what is the ecchiest JRPG available?
Same. And I must say, holy shit, press turn is the worst combat system I've ever encountered in a JRPG.
Dragon Quest 2
Seconding. Couldn't play for more than an hour thanks to that shitty combat system
Just beat TWEWY. Cool game, senpai
What is this? Is it porn?
Probably Kingdom Hearts II. Drive Forms make my dick rock hard
>girl
Yeah. Real helpful, google.
Could this be a Jojo reference?
Maybe I should finally get started on XCX. Are the online multiplayer aspects necessary for completion?
Well at least you know she's not a trap.
I haven't played SMTIV, so I don't know if it's that different in that game, but I love press turn in Nocturne and DDS, what is your problem with it?
Currently deciding between FFIX and FFV
Really? Press turn has to be my favorite combat since you actually need to think out your turns and it allows you more turns to keep your buffs up or just spam as much attacks as you can. Also it's balanced to where both you and your enemy gets the same advantages and disadvantages
>go to item world
>farm 10 levels
>it's tideous as fuck
>forget to save
>make the mistake of savescumming
I want to die senpai
420 desu ne~
>eyewear
JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
What was your favorite part? On my first run Glitz Pit was mine. Recently played it and Train Mystery is a comfy chapter.
Getting all the nodes was worth it for that ending.
yea its honey select
yeah is more fun to find the sauce by yourself
Missing an attack is bad enough, but losing another turn, just because RNG fucked you over, is pretty bullshit. The press turn system at its core is very prone to snowballing. I.e. it makes easy battles even easier and more one sided, and vice versa.
And then there's Smirk in SMT IV that makes it ten times worse.
I agree that smirk is a very flawed mechanic and shouldn't show up in future games, however I've never had any issues with missing. The whole point of the agility stat is to increase you chance of hitting so it's not like there no way to decrease your chances of loosing turns. The game also provides moves such as fog breath that make it near impossible to miss if you use them.
There are plenty of ways to increase your chance of hitting the enemy, and the fact that you do lose two turns when you miss helps to make it feel like you could lose every battle, when a problem in JRPGs that is far too common is that you just feel like normal enemies are there to soften you up for the boss fight.
How to get games from US ps store if I'm living in Europe? Is it potentially bannable?
FFX
I'm getting through the capture shit for the monster arena right now and then I have to prepare my anus for luck farming.
Trials of Cold Steel.
trying to Platinum it.
Star Ocean Last Hope: International. That's the one I'm the most involved in right now. It's pretty fun.
Make a US account and then buy on your account $10 from Amazon. I don't think you'll get banned.
Thanks m8. Animu girl for you.
Romancing Saga 2, hopefully
Will replay Mana Khemia 2 after I'm done with uni stuff.
Finally going to get around to play Final fantasy IX and X-2
STILL WAITING ON VITA. KAWAZU DON'T FAIL ME!
I need to play this already
Considering there isn't a single SaGa game on PSN, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Which really sucks. I'd love having the Romancing/Frontier games on my Vita.
????
I still haven't finished the last 3 I started. I'df feel bad for starting another one, but I also can't bring myself to finish them. I guess I'll just play shorter games
pleb as fuck
> when you realize you are too old for video games
I'm wondering if I should play this first then finish 2, because apparently 2 is the best in the series.
From what I've played of both, 4 seems to have the funner combat.
Fine taste my brothers.
Just finished God Eater 2, what a wild ride.
Now it's time for Pokemon Moon's postgame and some MGS 3 and Rune Factory 4 afterwards.
Not trolling at all, but isn't it bad monster hunter clone with kawaii uguu girls and bois?
>people have actually deluded themselves into thinking that press turn adds any extra degree of strategy, depth, or difficulty
They would be more challenging without it. It's too easy to exploit. And it's nothing more than a shallow extension of the system of exploiting enemy weaknesses that almost all jrpgs have, except now instead of using Agilao on an enemy weak to fire (which you would be doing anyway) for more damage, you do it for more damage and an extra turn. Wow, that's a real thinking man's strategy. And then you just use your extra turn to mindlessly attack again. Or buff/debuff against a tough boss, which is the extent of extra depth press turn adds over standard turn-based jrpgs.
>"b-but the enemies use it too!"
Anyone with an IQ over 80 can utilize it more effectively than the AI, which still makes it a distinct advantage to the player.
I say this as a SMT fan. People like you are why people hate the SMT fanbase.
You need to like anime to like God Eater, yeah, but Monster Hunter is tedious and grindy as fuck to me, so I see Monster Hunter in a horribly negative light too.
Zero no Kiseki fan translation due any time now
Why is this game so good?
I'm playing FFXV. Not even baiting, is fun as all fuck.
GE is more of a fast-paced anime hack and slash with MH elements.
It's actually surprisingly different, so go in expecting a 100% clone and you will be disappointed.
Your weapon is a cool transforming Melee-Gun-Shield, you have a cool super-mode powerup complete with it's own theme song, and a competent AI party. They actually had to nerf the some of the character AI since they were too smart in the original.
Sound interesting.
How cute girls are?
Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold. Again.
I'm emulating FF12 atm.
I like the story but the middle seems like a slog. Go here, go there. All the hunts are serious grindfests right now too. I just finished in jahara. I hope it picks up again I really like the characters and the world.
search for Alysa
This is the GE1 MC's canon waifu in anything set after GE1.
my wiggler
Good taste user-kinos.
I'm trudging through Trails in the Sky right now. Game slowed down drastically around the play. I'm in that big Orbal factory city now hoping it picks up. I hear it gets really good at the end and then SC is largely great. Looking forward to it.
If the Steam sale is Thursday I might pick up Disgaea and play it for the first time ever. Or if todays PSN sale has anything good for PS4 as I bought a slim the other day for Christmas.
I've gotta go back to my Raidou playthrough which I have been putting off for over a month now.
But fuck that I'm gonna go try and beat Devil Survivor.
3DS versions are better.
I know, but I just wanted an excuse to use that pic.
Finishing trails in the sky SC and starting cold steel
Aselia the Eternal
I loved Chapter 4 because I'm a sucker for all things spooky. The atmosphere, eavesdropping on the crows, Vivian, and the fake-out "twist" made is really memorable. Chapter 6 on the train was great as well.
This is probably unpopular to say but I wasn't crazy about the Glitz Pit chapter. The mystery aspect was great, and so was Yoshi, but I found the onslaught of battles to get repetitive quickly, and the added restrictions your manager added didn't really do enough to shake it up in my opinion.
I finally got custom firmware on my PS3, so I'm going to do a NG+ run of Tales of Vesperia but in English. Going to do a Unknown only playthrough with grade shop fun.
Fire Emblem (my first time playing the series)
Persona 3 FES with my gf
Maybe FFXV but not sure
Hopefully it's not any FE after 10. Especially 13 or 14.
It's just called Fire Emblem on GBA
Christmas is busy as fuck, I ain't playing shit until the 26th.
While you're entitled to your opinion I also doubt you can give examples of anything better
Might finally get around to finishing Trails of Cold Steel.
How do I deal with the last boss draining mana? I'm already nearly tapped by then and it's pretty much the death knell
I got Pokemon Sun at launch but I've barely scratched the third island. I've been too busy with work to play video games.
Hopefully I actually will get the 23rd off so I can play something then.
Probably finish Yokai Watch, so I can start YW2.
Yeah, I've been meaning to play more pokemon Sun myself too, but just too busy with work. Only on the second island myself. Not off until the 26th sucks.
Persona 3
What are the essential Gamecube JRPGs? I pretty much missed out on them all (despite owning a Gamecube).
I'm still playing through P4, KH and Dragon's Crown.
There wasn't a whole lot.
Tales of Symphonia is probably the top one, which has since been ported to the PS3 and PC.
Skies of Arcadia was a good port of a game that noone played because >dreamcast
There's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, probably the best in the series.
There's Fire Emblem: Path of Radience if you're into SPRGs.
Lastly there's a personal favourite, Baten Kaitos. It has a quirky and fairly unique battle system.
