Irrelevant. There are only 500k fewer PS4 owners in Japan now than there were PS3 owners when XIII launched. Even if you equalised the numbers and every single one of those 500k bought FFXV, it still wouldn't come close to XIII's numbers, let alone the bigger-selling titles in the series.
Ultimately, there's only one number that matters, and that's the number of copies sold, pitiful excuses aside. And that marks it as by far, BY FAR, the worst-selling mainline title in the series in Japan, MMOshit aside. To a degree that XV's lifetime sales won't even come close to XIII's week one sales. Amazing.
