I missed out on all the demos. What's so good about Nioh? Why do you like it?

It's basically the game that Dark Souls should have been four games ago.
Cuts away redundancies, has actual skill in which stances to use (you have a low, mid, and high stance), different weapons that can instantly be switched, different armor that can be equipped right away, can level by walking to an in game small shrine instead of loading back and forth to level up (think Bloodborne), enemies aren't cheap because they're hit boxes are actually present. Actual combat, not just "hit X and dodge". Has extra challenge when normal levels turn into twilight levels. Runs at 60fps, looks very pretty, and has an actual story and lore.
Damn. I think you just sold me on it, brother.
this is my feeling exactly.
i never really liked the souls games.
play Demons,Dark and the alpha for dark souls 2 and bloodborne.
never understood what's supposed to be so great.
it's literally: what if the Ninja Gaiden devs took a stab at the dark souls formula.
making it faster, more skill based, better looking, better running.
it seems to cut away some of the RPG fat from Dark souls and instead give you better combat.
Don't have a PS4 and I'm confused by what OP is saying. Were the demos fucking timed?
it was more like a open beta.
seems like they took a lot of the fan feedback into consideration
The joke now is that Nioh is a "slower" Ninja Gaiden, which by itself already means a lot. Honestly the beta and alpha for Nioh was the most fun I've had with an action game in a while.
You can't just mash buttons like in Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, or other games that are just beat em ups/hack and slash. Nioh has the hack and slash element but only after you've gotten well versed in the controls and have leveled up. The game still requires timing, thinking ahead, and using your defences. But once you've gotten control of the game you will literally cut through large demons and all those samurai/pirates in one or two moves.
>read this
>get hyped
>remember how burned out I get if I let myself get hyped
I'll just wait and see
It's a Samurai Souls game by the guys who made Ninja Gaiden.
That says it all.
>never understood what's supposed to be so great.
They're more about the level designs & atmosphere. That's what I liked about them ever since played Demon's. Tower of Latria is one of my favorite levels in vidya. It's still my favorite & personally kinda let down BB didn't top it.
The game pushes you into respecting it and learning it and not treating it like dark souls.
When i started the first demo and playing as if i was playing ds/bb i got my ass handed to me and i loved it.
Spent time learning the game mechanics til they became second nature and my last days with the demo were spent running around doing stuff like this youtu.be
The second demo i spent it experimenting with stats and min maxing and coming up with super builds and crafting the best gear too(the channel has vids from the beta that are a result of all that min maxing)
Man the demos were 100x better than all the recent full games i played.
I've never played Ninja Gaiden. Which ones are worth playing?
Stance are gonna be a problem
>heavy weapons are suddenly fast to swing around when having low stance and super light weapons are suddenly hard to swing because of high stance
It's a problem. Take stance out the game
Everything you said is true except for the first sentence
Nioh is not dark souls, it's a different playstyle, it doesn't feel the same, and it's never what dark souls was aiming to be.
ninja gaiden black and ninja gaiden 2.
ng sigma and ng sigma 2 are great too, slightly less awesome than the others but still up there
yea Ninja Gaiden is great, they should make another one.
saying DMC is a button masher is rediculous.
DMC is just as much about dodging as Ninja Gaiden.
at least DMC3, that's the only one i have played on the harder difficulties.
pretty sure Bayonetta is all about dodging too.
Ninja Gaiden is also dodging but your combo to punish the AI is mostly izuna droppin fools.
either way, Nioh also feels a lot like Onimusha with the Issin (i think) mechanic in Onimusha being a well timed parry/attack that instakills enemies.
i think Nioh has some of that too, and the feudal japan demon athmosphere ofcourse.
NG 1 (black or sigma), NG2 (normal or Sigma), and Razors Edge. depending on what you got access to.
NG1 and 2 are some of the best the genre has to offer.
It's hard.
It's fun.
There's lots of weapons and builds.
It's aesthetic as fuck.
What about Ninja Gaiden 3?
Razors Edge is the updated version of Ninja Gaiden 3.
original Ninja Gaiden 3 was a failure.
Razors edge made the game alright, fun to look at, lots of blood and unlockables.
still worse than 1 and 2.
Fromsoft had FOUR chances to make Nioh. They failed each time. That's all I can really say.
Yeah that's the other fun thing of timing your counters against enemies. You can play the game very aggresive or take it slowly with the counters.
Also I forgot to mention that there is a magic element that can be switched up anytime in case you dont like current buffs or effects. No need to make new characters just for this.
should i preorder the digital deluxe edition for £70? or wait another 6 months when it might be on sale for £30?
i don't think this game actually has any multiplayer.
so just wait it out if you are unsure.
It has coop.
The two demos literally had pvp
there's no pvp
there's co-op
and you can fight AI controlled player corpses
like blood stains in dark souls, but you fight them
Did they cancel pvp?
Source
fake pvp
this nigga actually thought he was fighting other people
kys
they never said it was in
they said they wanted to add it, but it was low priority
Did you not play the beta? It isnt a problem
Nioh is also a better RPG than Souls.
Based William would fucking kill your BB OC and your Souls waifu.
>digital deluxe anything
Don't waste your money on such trash for literally gold reskins as in every deluxe version
>not using the golden katana
pleb
>They failed in doing what they didn't want to do
Yes, they failed indeed.
>Dark Souls: Weeb Edition

>the Ninja Gaiden devs
stop
what, user?
did the Nioh devs not work on Ninja Gaiden?
do you think they just hired a full team to do Nioh?
what's your problem? tell me.
which im okay with. i feel like they would balance the game around pvp rather than pve if they allowed it
...
>1 man makes a videogame
lol
>all ninja gaiden games made with itagaki's involvement are god tier
>all ninja gaiden games made without itagaki's involvement are shit
but yeah he had nothing to do with it
they are still the Ninja Gaiden developers
what's your point?
I don't get it. Why oatmeal cookie?
I bet you guys think Konami can keep the Metal Gear franchise going strong without Kojima too right? Fucking ignorant plebs.
Yes, just like the Rare that work for Microsoft are totally the same developers that made Goldeneye.
no one ever said that. i just found the picture funny, thats all
i believe that konami can still make a good game without kojima.
just like team ninja can make a good game without Itagaki
I think his point is that the Souls series never really evolved past Demons Souls with the exception of Bloodborne, all thenother games are basically repetition of old ground.
It's Dark Souls, but faster, cleaner, and more fun. It's also based on William Adams, which is cool as fuck. I played the both betas and I got hooked, I don't even like the Dark Souls style of gameplay. I can't wait to pick it up Day 1 or maybe sooner if I can review it.
...
Why yes, I do think Metal Gear franchise can thrive without the guy who was actively destroying it.
if any of you have an extra code for the dynamic theme i would greatly appreciate it
>nioh is actually good
>3D ninja gaiden is shit
really makes you think
>shit level design
>shit enemies
>sponge bosses
>no lore
>white guy killing Asians fantasy
>b-but it's hard! that makes it good!
>3D ninja gaiden is shit
kill yourself my friend
>freed from this mortal coil
post mark of the conqueror pasta
No matter what it turns out to be, The Mark of the Conqueror is significant.
Before I say why I need to divide the Souls community into two general groups - Conquerors and Conquered - and quickly define both.
Both have basically been around since Demon's Souls, but the very nature of the Conquered demands that the Conquerors come first. Why? Because Conquerors beat the path and light the way. Afterward, like mold or a rot, the Conquered seep into the community, ever at the heels of the Conquerors.
How is that? Either by a lack of information upon release or due to a self-imposed restriction, the Conqueror goes in blind. Conquerors embrace the challenge From Software has extended with each release in their Souls/Bloodborne Series while the Conquered abhor it. While Conquerors scratched and clawed their way through levels and boss fights, the Conquered poured over FAQs, Strategy Guides, Wiki Articles, Google Search Results, Let's Plays and How to Videos.
Therefore the Conquered subsist by virtue of the illumination spread over From's games by the Conquerors, entirely dependent on it. Overtime they've let themselves forget this, fancying themselves old hands as they bring their borrowed knowledge and tactics to bear on each successive release.
And then here comes f***ing Nioh, reminding the Conquered who they really are. And with little to no documentation in sight they hide behind s***posts so they can cling to that "gud" status they worked so hard to attain. Eventually they'll be back. Once the Conquerors have shown the way, that is.
And that's why The Mark of the Conqueror is significant. No matter how superficial, uselessly cosmetic or quickly outclassed it is, it still says I'm not this guy . No, I'm a Conqueror.
>muh gamerscore achievements XD
>that success despite that nonexistent Ki management
Is there a link to the full stream? I assume this is from the one that was scheduled for the 20th but I missed it and there's gotta be more gameplay.
my b i thought i linked the full stream : youtube.com
Thanks, gonna enjoy watching through this with mild confusion and excitement tinged with disappointment. Also I don't think it's been pointed out yet surprisingly, but the guy to the left of Ieyasu Tokugawa in the trailer must be Tadakatsu Honda.
They explained what hidden tea house is for. It's like a shop where you spend points you get from online play to buy various stuff. Among things you can buy are character skins. So you can look like other characters during gameplay. So other characters are playable... Kinda
thats pretty neat
That sounds like a pretty nice way to encourage co-op, and people will finally be happy that they can be other characters. It's probably the best way to do it, since William-sama has such a wide variety of skills.
Alpha>>>literally dark souls clone
its just another souls
The alpha was fucking great , it was different
Now? That shit is chinese souls
plain and simple
While it's still got enough originality to it that I wouldn't call it a clone, the changes definitely tore out a lot of what made the game special. Gotta ask them for a mode to change it back so this halfassed frankenstein'd balance isn't the only way to play the game.
