Movie is typical shit for kids.

Game is good

Memes

I thought it was real comfy and good. Atleast it was a good video game based movie in a long time and especially not some live action bullshit.

We're also getting a live action Pikachu movie being produced by hollywood. God knows how that will turn out.

Being tied to the movie brings the game down too though.
It ruins the story, the characters, the pacing and the humor

Plot didn't go anywhere, that is to say that Ratchet doesn't change at all. He wants to be hero, does hero stuff, and that's it.

They don't have him swear revenge on Qwark, or even get all that upset about it beyond moping in his room for 4 minutes.

Meanwhile, the side characters are all pointless. Can't even call them bland because bland at least implies they have something to them, none of these OCdonuts even have that beyond the one with a huge ass playing the multiplayer from the third game.

As for the game tie-in, it was pretty good. Not nearly as solidly made as other R&C games, but still a nice homage to series and its roots with some great throwbacks to the originals. Shame they could have had added in more weapons, even as free DLC or unlockables.

Not really. The game was almost completely different outside of a few key plot points, the bits that weren't in the game pretty much allowed it to feel like it was somewhat closer to the original game (namely Qwark being already in Drek's pocket since before he sent Ratchet to the research station). As for the humor, it had some decent jokes, but the animation on the characters was lacking, something that has been kind of a thing even as far back as Tools of Destruction. It seems like Insomniac for some reason is only giving good animation to the big cutscenes while conversations with characters are almost lifeless.

Didn't the game sell more than the movie? Or is it the best selling of the franchise? I thought the game was a really good reimagining of the first game. My only complaint were some of the voice acting, I felt like Rosario Dawsons voice didn't feel right and Bella Thorne's was worse, it sounded bland and as if she was trying really hard, it was just annoying to listen to.

Of course the game is much better than the movie, but I think it's worse than the original Ratchet & Clank in pretty much every aspect, except for the controls

I'd say it's a slightly uneven split. Original game's story was pretty nonexistent beyond "Stop Drek" and whatnot, but there's no denying that Ratchet at least had something of a character arc in that he was just looking for fun on faraway worlds, then revenge for his idol trying to kill him, to wising up and stopping the bigger threat.

If they had at least played on something (Ratchet almost getting too absorbed in his fame or repeating the same arc from the original) about his flaws, it would have helped the story a great deal.

Is there anything wrong with the PS4 version? Whenever I hear it brought up, it's mostly in a negative light.

One of the biggest problems with the remake is that you could remove Clank and nobody would notice.
One of the main plot points of the original was the conflict between the main characters, but that was completely removed, and replaced with forgettable side characters. Actually, the story really isn't focused on anything, just like the movie

It's good, but they cut some planets

To be fair, that's kind of true for roughly all of the games after the first. Clank might have had some plot relevance in the second and third (and especially more so in the Future games), but for the most part he was just the wise-cracking robot on Ratchet's back for the most part once whatever plot device with him was over with.

And the story is focused on stopping Drek, it just doesn't play the stakes as high as they should be. They keep acting like they have to hurry, but there's no sense of urgency or a huge shift in enemy forces after Qwark betrays everyone. Hell, ToD at least had a new group of enemies in the third act.

My favorite part about the remake is that all of its flaws and inconsistencies can be blamed on Quark's poor storytelling.

Compared to the original:

Pros
>Smoother controls
>Better weapons
>Character progression aspects added in

Cons
>Fewer planets
>Many planets are overly simplified
>Much worse music
>Story is a mess, it jumps between the original game and the movie
>Humor and writing have gone from Futurama to watered down Dreamworks

It's not a 1:1 remake, so several planets/stations from the original are omitted (which is a bit strange as the game is larger in scope than the movie which only has like 3-4 worlds), and most of the weapons are from newer games with only a few brand new ones.

Regardless, it's a solid entry in the series, and takes the best of just about every entry (the tighter controls and shooting, weapon leveling, challenge modes). If you can get it at a good price or even as a gift, don't hesitate to play it.

Shame you couldn't change Ratchet's wrench into something like the lightsaber from the third game. That shit was awesome.

lol butts

What about them?

The pixar and kids oriented shit must die in these games, not everything needs to be supergood, npcs superweird and villain superfunny.

This is why I prefer Crash because it was faithful to Looney Toons or even Jak games where the plot has some dark shit behind and sense of mistery.

>The pixar and kids oriented shit must die in these games, not everything needs to be supergood, npcs superweird and villain superfunny.

Are you ok? You kind of broke your English for a moment there.

>Many planets are overly simplified

At least they had some divergent paths again. It was pretty lame how after the third game, the levels were just straight forward with the only offshoots being little nooks and crevices with a secret stuffed inside.
