A long time ago (and i mean long) i played a game about being a merchant/trader in old europe, you bought thiings and sold em again and you had a time limit to get a certain money. you could get married (althought you never see your character) and your ships could get attacked by pirates. i have forgotten the name of the game, anyone knows who game was it?

The Guild/Port Royale series? Look those up and you might find a related title if not.
It's similar but it's not the port royale series
sid meier's pirates
Sounds like Patrician 3.
checked but those aren't
bear in mind old pirates are quite different from the newer versions
...
No the game just had 2 interfaces: the cities where you could buy/sell/trade and the map where you could see the cities with points red and blue and the white small lines that marked the travel of the ships
sea dogs ?
He said you never see your character and it's European based.
This sounds pretty simplistic and old. I would say original Sid Meier's Pirates, but there more screens and I don't think ships had lines trailing them. Can you describe the look of the game? That might help place it in time.
idk , but it made me think of this game, wich was baller as fuck
What was the gameplay like? Was it RTS? Could you fight?
Even if we never ID OP's mystery game, can we have a boat thread?
Apart from Pirates! I don't know of many games that focus on sailing ships. I've seen Port Royale around, but don't know much about it. Is it any good?
I've been playing Sunless Sea, and although it's about steamships, it definitely has the Jospeh Conrad thing going on that I really dig. I was thrilled when I started the game up and saw a quote from him.
the game should be prior 2007. it had a main menu with pergamin like options. you started in a city and with your money you could build things like farms or any building where you could generate your selling goods. you had an option to see the map where the map had like the part of europe that has neetherlands (i remember oslo was one of the cities) it's graphics were like an age of empires look. when you reived an important message (like a city had the plague or you got married) it displayed a small animation.
The animation was on 3d, for example in the plague one you could see the rats getting into the city, and in the marriage one you saw your bride
thats definitely patrician 3. You said it wasn't but I'm pretty sure it is
Tradewind?
The Jackdaw is a ship, Jenny. Not a boat.
Pergamin? Is that Polish for vellum or something?
It certainly sounds like a Patrician game.
>like the part of europe that has neetherlands
Yeah, it was patrician 2, my confusion was that in spanish it had a different name, and the images i saw was from patrician 1 and 3
Anyway thanks everybody
I never got into AC games largely because of the bullshit sci-fi backdrop. Been playing some Shadow of Mordor and having a nice time, though, so maybe I should suck it up. I'd rather play a historical game. Is Black Flag any good? How well do ships actually feature in it? I figure it's too much to hope that you actually get to steer them around at your leisure or command the cannoneers.
I'd worried that the seafaring part of the game would be just like the game on land, but smaller.
It's a good game if you just ignore the main quest bullshit. You do have to sit through the first two hours of the story or something before you can actually get to own your own ship.
Gameplay is arcadey, but fun. You can explore the entire map and go wherever you want with your ship, battle other ships / forts etc. You have control over your cannons, but you can't shoot them individually. All cannons on the same side will fire at the same time. You also get to upgrade your ship of course.
It's my favourite AC game because of the ship. Rogue is good too, but I still prefer BF.
>All cannons on the same side will fire at the same time
That's exactly how it should be. Consider me sold.
Asscreed 4 Black Flag unironically
not as good as Pirates! but the ship content is fun as hell
