Smash 4 regularly gets less than half the viewers of melee. Yeah it gets a few 100 more entrants for a number of reasons but the real money in exports is viewership

Melee isn't a fighting game. It has a gameplay more centered on fast movement. So it wouldn't be surprising if a good chunk of Melee players disliked the idea of playing fighting games competitively (like me for example)

You think no one is going to be paying attention to the very first smash pro circuit with the highest single tournament pay out in smash history? Interest in the game will sky rocket now that we have a organized tournament system which means more viewers and more players which means more money to be made overall.

Smash 4 is at the point where it doesn't need EVO, if your that big then EVO would be foolish to not want to get in on that money as well

Ada just doesn't stay dead, it's like they thought Koromaru was a good thing in Persona. Because of Active Flow increasing Burst regeneration rate and Carl's Overdrive making Ada much stronger (and even harder to kill), it's really difficult to get the upper hand even in neutral. All the top tiers in CF are oppressive as fuck though, so it's not much of a surprise.

i watch both smash games regularly. smash 4 outdoes melee at most events until top 16 and melee pulls ahead if there was a huge shake up heading into top 8 or if 4 gods are there and mang0 is playing well

and at smaller events where gods are unlikely to attend, smash 4 always does better
