Crysis was a visual benchmark that every other game was compared to a decade after it's release.
And it's physics are still better than 90% of games made today.
I think most of that stuff is fairly overblown. 99% of game buying consumers don't read or know about all the sources that care about, or point out that kind of"controversy". The usual suspects will whine and moan about whatever is "problematic", we'll all have a good laugh, and move on.

All of EA's studios seem to stick to their Frostbite engine, so I don't think we'll be seeing much of it anymore. It'll probably still be available to license, but I doubt it'll get any updates and will quickly become outdated and rather useless.
Except Timesplitters 4 was in developement, and everyone knew Free Radical could make good games besides Timeplsitters as well due to Second Sight.
