>tfw want to replay Morrowind but OpenMW is so close to 1.0 and I kinda want to wait
It hurts
I want to play so bad

It's going to be like another year or two before modders take full advantage of OpenMW stuff anyway. So don't bother waiting--play now and then replay in a few years once everyone has gone full autism with OpenMW.

What's with all the Morrowind threads recently? Did something major get released? Not that I'm complaining..

It's winter, the comfiest season, and Morrowind is the comfiest game.

I just bought morrowind on a whim, are there any must have mods or is the vanilla experience okay?

What makes this game good?

Just use the unofficial patch first playthrough, then go into modding.

Just get the patches that fix bugs like the code patch and the unofficial patch and so on. MGEXE for more resolution options and AA and stuff.

In my opinion you might want to try the Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul which really improves the sound design of the game in a major way, but maybe you'll want to wait for a second playthrough

Thanks.

I might get shit for this but I got morrowind because I really liked skyrim. I see a lot of people praising morrowind and saying that it's like skyrim, but 10000x better. It's doesn't have like xp loss on death or corpse runs, right? I don't know why but I always linked morrowind with Everquest in my younger days.

fixed

>It's doesn't have like xp loss on death or corpse runs, right? I don't know why but I always linked morrowind with Everquest in my younger days.
No. It just has considerably more RPG elements and things like dicerolls.

Whatever weapon-class you want to use, choose that as a primary skill and you should be fine. You'll probably miss a fair bit in the beginning of the game, but Morrowind is all about the stark contrast between beginnings and the mid and late game. It's a helluva lot more noticable how powerful you get in comparison to Oblivion or Skyrim.

You're not entirely wrong in that comparison. It's closer to D&D with the combat. As in, it attempts to convert tabletop dice rolling into 3D action combat. You have a miss chance and what not. It's not for everyone. If you enjoyed the world and lore of Skyrim, Morrowind will blow you away in terms of writing quality and depth. You'll never look at the other TES games the same way, in this aspect.

I forgot to add that you will actual feel a difference in your power between the beginning and endgame. You will start slapping at the air with a rusty shit sword while you stop to rest every ten paces and end up flying across the entire continent, wiping out entire weather conditions and races, and literally becoming a god reborn. Morrowind is the greatest 3D WRPG ever made, in my opinion. Maybe not gameplay, but story, world buikding, and a true sense of godhood make up for it.

If it's your first time playing morrowind and you are coming from skyrim, you should be mostly fine but get rid of a few bad habits. Magicka for example does not naturally regenerate so remember that resting exists to restore it and potions becomes more important.

Was pic related a mistake, or is everyone who complains about it a casual?

Lots of content, the world is interesting, dense and immersive, the magic, alchemy and enchanting systems are endlessly exploitable if you want them to be and quite useful,

Was Kirkbride a genius, a madman, a hack, or all three?

No. It was supposed to teach you that shit aint randumb herpaderp.

Casuals are just so retarded they cannot learn a game worlds rules and demand everything follow the insane troll logic of CoD /moba tier inanity.

The level designer was an asshole and decided to fuck with the player

Why is Morrowind so immersive compared to many RPGs.

It's so easy to get lost in it. Is it how the game structures the character's progression?

something like that

The latter

the level designer decided to place the piece of junk mcguffin where the piece of junk would realistically be instead of in a treasure chest at the end of a corridor behind a strong monster

Did Almalexia cuck the Nerevar?

Didn't she fuck Vivec? I think that was after Nerevar was already dead though.

All three. He will be remembered as the Sotha Sil to Todd's Almalexia. His beautiful interpretation of lore will be made canon when Todd and Bethesda are struck down, and we will call them the reclamations. I guarantee it.

Fuck your quest markers

I scoured Arkngthand countless times and had to check a walk-through to find it

Felt casual man

This shit wouldn't fly these days..

Does that make Colonel Sanders Vivec?

this is true.
maximum comf levels achieved with morrowind

hahahahahhaa it took me first try to find it.
you have to literally be a casual to have difficulty with it.

Anyone play Myar Aranth or Arktwend? I played Nehrim and Enderal for Oblivion and Skyrim but I was wondering about the quality of SureAIs mods for Morrowind.

Putting it on the back of the bottom shelf was kind of evil, but I consider this a very good type of casual filter for rpgs.

...

watch and learn
here's the deal
they'll choke and die on this divine disease

I would say "on copious amounts of drugs".

Skyrim is superior when it comes to winter comfines.

>tfw you have a discontinued and hard to find mod saved in 3-4 places just in case (lilarcor)

CHIM

Just got back from my session, lasted the entire day, damn the game is good.
/comfy/

What starting stats should I pick if I want to do crazy alchemy and enchantment stuff to boost my stats to obscene levels?

That worries me, because what happens when over time mods slowly disappear from easy distribution sites, leaving them mostly in the hard drives of a few. I mean the popular mods will typically never die but I always save older or more obscure mods since how would one acquire them when they get taken down and extremely hard to find?

Sup Forums is one big collective consciousness we all end up playing the same game sometimes

ahahah now look at lorkhan heart that i just found

thank god my strategy guide finally arrived

...

Is there a more baller NPC?

if I were to get into gamedev, would using the openmw engine be a good place to start after making simple arcade games? especially if I just want to make my own rpg

>Start Morrowind
>Make Illusion a major skill
>Go to Balmora
>Make chameleon 100% for 3 seconds spell
>Steal fucking everything
>Sell it all to Creeper
>Buy skill ups and min/max attributes
>mfw my custom class was The Jew all along

damn that's fucking neato
any other games have impressive in game universes like this?

>download it
>install mods to make it not ugly
>quit after an hour
Holy shit this game sucks, I at least had some fun with daggerfall but this was a hot mess

...

I haven't played morrowind since i was like 12. Is the meteor that giant rock floating above vivec?

>clone daughters for multiple sexslaves
>keeps zombies at pets
>owns the last dwarf in the known mortal plane
>powerful and owns a fuckton of powerful shit because why the hell not

Yeah, he's pretty fucking cool.

what's going to happen when space travel is developed on Nirn?

was he right?

Fyr and Pelinal are the most based NPCs to ever be in an Elder Scrolls game.

I started playing with 0.39. It's pretty damn usable as is. More stable than any other Bethesda game I've played.

Chim

Can you explore other realms of Oblivion in ESO?

I know Cold Harbour is in it, right?

It already has, it's just that no one can remember it because it happened within a localized time crash in Cyrodiil.
The Hist treeships are one of the major powers of that time

Pretty sure Coldhabour is basically the Tutorial Dungeon. You do get to Mehrunes Dagon's realm, if only for a little bit when closing gates.

>he doesn't use the soul trap glitch to permanently raise all his stats and make his character OP

...

How's the Rise of House Telvanni mod?

I figured it out when I was a dumb 12 year old, how did people miss it? To be fair even as a 12 year old I could read instructions.

Fuck, it keeps crashing on new game even with the mods off.

Yeah, The Ministry of Truth is just a giant ass meteor he stopped from crashing, when he lost his powers the meteor regained it's momentum and crashed full speed into Vivec city causing all the bullshit you see in Dragonborn DLC

So the aedra and the deadra are planets and not other dimensions?

God I'm so stressed. I added mods and I'm playing vanilla. There's so much to do!! I'm leveling too fast! I have a million quests to do, and I feel like I can't even explore every town and get the quests because there's no time. I make quick stops in aldurahn, Caldera, gniss, tel bruma etc, I don't explore them or talk to everyone and it so stressful.

faggot

They're plane(et)s.

The aedra are since helping creating Mundus did that to them

The Deadras are in their own dimensions

...

IT WAS PLATONIC

Is there anything in morrowind that alludes to this?

From Sermon 33

The citizenry of Vivec screamed as they saw a shooting star come down out of the sky hole like a toll-road of hell. But Vivec merely raised his hand and froze Lie Rock just above the city and then he pierced the monster with Muatra.

(The practice of piercing the Second Aperture is now forbidden.)

When Nerevar returned, he saw the frozen comet above his lord's city. He asked whether or not Vivec wanted it removed.

'I would have done so myself if I wanted, silly Hortator. I shall keep it there with its last intention intact, so that if the love of the people of this city for me ever disappear, so shall the power that holds back their destruction.'

>TES VI: Divayth and Pelinal's excellent chimventure

Wow what a dick

>When Nerevar returned
Wasn't he already dead

CHIM

Only mortals will not understand these moves

What, is that Kirkbride?

excellent jew meme fellow frog poster

Give me some good ideas for a playthrough, guys. Tired of playing the same generic character over and over.

Why in the FUCK didn't Azura simply murder the Tribunal instead of cursing an entire race that, apart from 3 people, had literally nothing to do with what had happened? What a fucking bitch.

Are there any mods for his armor in Morrowind?

No ranged weapons, no melee weapons, no fists, no Destruction, no Conjuration magic, fight without those things.

Because they WERE gods. They banished daedra lords on their way back from the store in the good old days.

An idea I read from another thread
Go full Acrobatics and Spear so you can jump on top of people and skewer them to death on landing

Whatever everyone else says, and also stealthily kill every Khajiit that you come across.

My favorite thing about the lore of TES is that every culture and race has their own spin on the creation story. It's always vaguely the same, but with influences and biases from each culture. It's hard to tell who is telling the truth and what has been lost to time. It feels like actual history.

I'd buy it

yeah

Vivec was a lot more of a god than anything else we've seen in the series.

One of the first thing Vivec did when he 'achieved' CHIM is to establish his power to the past and present. He also retconed the reality so in the end he both didn't kill Nerevar and did kill Nerevar.

Hilarious pervert.

Endorses you if you take off your clothes

I thought it was more that Vivec the Mortal DID kill Nerevar but Vivec the God didn't because they were essentially different individuals due to his ascension.

the princes got banned from manifesting directly on the world and can only exert their influence from oblivion. they're hugely powerful in a lot of ways, but can't really lay down the pain themselves. That's why they're always bribing you to be their errand boy and kill people for them in the games.

He had good ideas tripy in a good way but was something of a one time wonder.
The extant of his influence on Morrowind is unclear but he probably was partially for the originalite of the setting.
So bad Oblivion and Skyrim are so standard, still great games but a bit sad most series lost their originality and eccencitries when they become more mainstream.
