it was fun while it lasted.
It was shit
Pretty good. Not great, but good. Better than Sup Forums would have you believe.
Love the character designs.
Would have been way better with normal controls.
Level design and enemy placement could have been improved.
That alone would have made this game pretty good actually.
Bayonetta 2 was a better Star Fox game than Zero was.
I liked Mighty No. 9 more than Star Fox Zero. Not bait
It was fun but the motion controls took i from a 7 tp a 5 for me. Still 100% it but it got really old really fast. Never tried guard.
The final boss of Kirby: Planet Robobot was a better Star Fox game than this shit.
I like Krystal
Motion controls were a mistake.
controls ruined it
Having to switch between two screens ruined it
A good, long while.
Unironically GOTY. Game has a lot of technical depth.
...
Ignore this.
It was a really good game. Recently u had the chance to play the co-opportunity pilot mode with a friend. I was pilot and he was gunner.
It'll be left on the shelf among other misunderstood games like Metroid Other M.
>Game has a lot of technical depth.
These.
You're just contrarians. Fuck off.
Inb4 some people start talking about Cody.
wrong pic
>no Krystal, no buy
Once I got used to the controls, it was alright game. The only parts I really hated were the gyrowing and landmaster ones. I thought the walker was pretty cool.
Co-op is probably the best way to play Zero. Really enjoyed that feature. Overall I felt like it was a really good SF64 expansion pack. Just more SF64. That's all I ever wanted. The series can stay dead now for all I care.
But Metroid Other M was horrible. It wasn't misunderstood. Sakamoto wanted to make a Metroid movie game and it sucked shit. There's literally no sense pushing that trash on here.
Reminder that the majority of people crying about the game never mastered the controls of each vehicle. That was the casual filter.
>Ignore the chart that lists all of the faults of the game
Fuck you.
Go fuck yourself. The controls have nothing to do with the horrible bosses and level design. Or the re-used levels.
I liked this game a lot.
It feels fucking good to make my own opinions independently of Sup Forums or journos.
Fuck you. Go fuck yourself. Stop having opinions different than us.
How to unlock alternate levels in Star Fox 64:
>keep Falco alive, follow him through the rings, face an alternate boss at the end
>Defeat 100 enemies in Fichina
>Hit every switch on the Forever Train, cause it to crash into the building
>hit every spotlight in Zoness
How to unlock alternate levels in Star Fox Zero:
>wait for Star Wolf to appear, hold down the lock-on button until a cutscene plays
You're just a contrarian. Nothing to be proud of.
Nah I agree. It's extremely nitpicky. A lot of it I completely disagree with. Like whining and crying about difficult to find medals and amiibo functionality is silly.
>Every boss fight being in all range mode is a bad thing
Maybe I fucking liked that.
As opposed to making an original property they just remastered Star Fox 64 yet again great fucking job you kikes
Yes user. I decided the gameplay looked appealing to me, went out to the store on my own gas and time, bought it with my own money, and poured hours of my life into the game playing it and getting medals just so I could be a contrarian on this shitstain imageboard.
You fucking retard. I guess the fun I had was artificial, too.
>Maybe I fucking liked that.
Then you just have shit taste. The Attack Carrier fight in Zero is objectively worse than the one in 64.
I needed more all range mode levels.
I got flashbacks of the Shadows of the Empire Outrider levels.
There are other ways to unlock levels. You unlock Salvadora by finding the portal hidden in Titania, unlock Aquarosa by hitting a switch with the walker in Corneria, unlock Fortuna by defeating Wolf quickly enough, unlock the Asteroid Field by beating Area 3 via Chaos at the Colony (forgot how you unlock Chaos at the Colony).
That's what I can remember offhand. 64 is a little more cryptic, but not by much.
Its objectively a bad game, though. It has less content than SF64 which came out 20 years ago. And it re-uses 3 levels and calls them different missions. And the bosses are terribly designed, like how Aquarosa forces the player to use auto lock-on that can't be turned off. Its just a way for Miyamoto to arbitrarily justify making the player use cockpit view even though the boss doesn't really need it.
>>Nintendo releases a game from a old franchise
>Fuckign Nintendo, only rehashing shit
>>Nintendo does something new
>Fucking Nintendo, why don't you make the games from franchises I like?
Something tells me you haven't played star fox 64
>n-n-n-no i ha-
liar. Go play it. Play through it at least three times. Then come back to zero.
I formed my own opinion too. I didn't think anyone would "get" an arcade game being released in this day and age. I expected the game to be short, but super replayable. I didn't pay attention to Sup Forums being all "lol the game's gonna suck" before the game was ever out. I held onto the hope that shiggy motomiyo would deliver.
Boy was the release date a bad, bad, bad day.
Too much of one thing is bad. There was no variety. I didn't like all-range mode at all because it fucking blew. "nitpicky"? Fucking jack-ass, it's got a ton of other points besides the two you mentioned you inbred pig.
What the fuck?
typo
>You unlock Salvadora by finding the portal hidden in Titania
You're overstating it. All you need to do here is fly towards the portal. And its pretty fucking hard to miss.
Also, the portal won't appear until after your first playthrough. Every path in SF64 is available from the start, if the player is good enough to reach them
I'll have you both know that Star Fox, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Zero are my favorite games in the series. I have played them all, I like them all, I don't give a rats ass about Adventures or Assault.
I grew up playing 64 day in and day out. It doesn't stop me from liking Zero. You can do your mental gymnastics all day long and say "If he likes Zero he CLEARLY hasn't played (X) like me and he CLEARLY doesn't think about it like I do" but the fact of the matter is that my tastes are just different than yours and I can find enjoyment where you can't.
Just eat shit. I've been playing games for 21 years and don't need to prove shit to you little faggots.
That's another thing I hated. They didn't have any confidence in their level design so they locked branching paths until you beat the level at least once.
Well, like I said, even though 64's are a little more cryptic, Star Fox's secrets have never been all that cryptic. These are all things we would do naturally, eventually. Replaying the Forever Train, I did what anyone did, hit all the switches. Especially when fucking Peppy tells me "hit the switch to open the gate" or however he phrased it.
Star Fox SNES's "out of this dimension" was probably harder to discover than anything else in the series. The rest of it is either something we do naturally or are told to so.
I don't give a shit if you like it or not. Its a bad game. Even Nintendo basically pretends it doesn't exist.
Whoa man chill, I understand, enjoy your piece of shit. See if I care.
>cody is in this very thread right now
and is the archive not working for anyone else?
Reminder that's Star Fox Zero controls better than the previous games.
>trying to play SF64 3D after the superior Zero
One day you're going to get faceless fuckers talking down to you and telling you that you're enjoying things wrong and you're going to get as pissed as I am
Just fuck this shitty post-ironic reddit offshoot of a board
Fuck off
I don't know who's trolling who anymore.
Star Fox 3D has better gyro, though, and the button scheme isn't unintuitive. Plus it has multiplayer that allows both control schemes for all players.
Go fuck yourself faggot. The only people who agree with your opinion on SFZ are senile Miyamoto and an underage balding autist. Kill yourself, you fucking waste of air.
Jesus what a clusterfuck of a thread
>One day you're going to get faceless fuckers talking down to you and telling you that you're enjoying things wrong
That may very well be but at least I won't be a bitch about it.
Actually the scoring systems ARE pretty in depth. Such a shame the controls are ass
The sad thing is, there actually is a lot of technical depth to the game, but it's wasted on subpar content and a control scheme nobody asked for.
cody is trying his hardest do defend the game again
i dont get why he is even doing this
...
Cody (you're obviously in here), you should play Dead Rising before Pokemon.
Also, for a guy that claims to hate e-celebs, you sure talk about them a lot.
W H I S K E R S
I wouldn't say it has more depth but I do appreciate the incentive for using lasers rather than charged shots. One thing I appreciate about the game.
Reminder that Kirby Planet Robobot's final boss was a better Star Fox game than the entirety of Star Fox Zero.
youtube.com
You will. That's what it means to be here, to conform. If it's not one or two people, it's 10, and then 20, and then 30, and pretty soon your ideas reflect our ideas. Your thoughts are our thoughts, your feelings are our feelings.
>Uprising was a better Star Fox
>Sin & Punishment Wii was a better Star Fox
>Bayonetta 2 was a better Star Fox
>Robobot was a better Star Fox
Sorry you're such a braindead mongrel that you need a consensus validating your opinion before you're comfortable having one, user
Fortunately I don't suffer from that kind of pathetic mindset, just blood pressure that spikes from being exposed to faggots like you.
Normally I don't like gyro controls, but I have to say there's a certain satisfaction in being able to control the lasers. I also kind of like how they look when you're using the chicken walker. Sort of like eye lasers.
Sorry you're such a braindead mongrel that you think a dumpster fire like Zero is a good game.
played it for a few minutes, still haven't gone back
Wow my dude, that's some gay-sounding philosophy you just shit out of that turd you call a brain but I think you should learn to read before you respond.
>all these devs can make decent Star Fox clones
>Miyamoto can't
What the hell happened? He might truly be going senile.
Too bad the reticle is not accurate on the television.
>mfw I've never played the mission without the Fox costume
It's THAT good.
Shame about Zero. I heard Shiggy had to apologize for it or something.
>literally "DELETE THIS!"
Pathetic
It's not philosophy, it's simply the truth. What you're thinking is merely the reflection of the hivemind. It only feels independent.
It was alright
The gyro controls aren't the issue either, being able to independently control both the ship's movement and the aim of fire should mean more intricate gameplay.
But this completely falls apart because of how they deliberately fucked up the reticle on the TV screen. You cannot reliably aim unless you use the GamePad screen and its cockpit view.
In all previous Star Fox games, you had a simple radar and a reticle that showed where your lasers would travel to.
In Zero, they remove the radar in favour of a lock-on and the reticle only shows where the lasers will travel from, it's fucked.
Why in the fuck would you remove a radar system that at a glance can let you be aware of bogeys on your tail or help re-orient you towards your target? Your teammates are constantly alerting you to bogeys on your tail because of this.
There's also the fact that you continue to have full control of your ship when cinematics take place on the TV screen, this is fucked up because so many players are accustomed to these being breaks in gameplay where you don't have input, and as a result you could find yourself crashing into something or getting caught off guard.
Fuck off, retard.
Where did you hear about that? It sounds like bullshit.
>Love the character designs.
Fox, however, looks like trash.
miyamoto didn't apologize
he did damage control
nintendolife.com
Even the Ratchet&Clank remake had better space shooting sections than SF0
It's actually hysterical
>specifically asked the people working on color splash to only use existing characters from the mario series and not create new ones
he needs to fucking quit
I never liked using the gamepad to aim, I used third person whenever it was reasonably possible without fucking up.
He didn't apologize for it. He damaged controlled it.
destructoid.com
>i-it's not that bad! y-you just didn't understand it!!
>p-please like my game
Also just going to say that he's a fucking retard for saying SFZ is the "most underrated" Wii U game when TW101 exists and is a far better game than the trash pile of Zero.
>I think, for example, an elementary school kid who plays it without any preconceived notions, I think it would be really fun for them. I think it's also really, really fun for siblings to play it together.
>I think it would be really fun for someone with zero standards or knowledge of the rest of the series
Miyamoto you fucking nigger I played it MULTIPLE god-damned times. Even the levels I got all the shitty fucking medals in because I was trying desperately to have fun. STOP FUCKING GARDENING AND PLAY MORE VIDEO GAMES YOU HACK.
The problem with that is you're basically firing from the hip.
You'll fire a few shots, and then adjust your aim so you land your mark, but the problem with this is you are constantly compensating for a bad system and won't get much better because of it.
Well, at least he's right about Pikmin.
>He might truly be going senile.
That's pretty much it. While Zero was in development, he kept raving about Thunderbirds and how much it influenced him and the game. When Zero was first announced during E3, he also launched into this extremely cringe-inducing anecdote about how foxes were like a "spirit animal" to him. He also kept gushing about how he wanted to introduce "new players" to Star Fox via Zero as he felt the first time he conceptualized it.
Basically, Zero's entire existence is because this aging old man was having a nostalgia trip. He literally wanted to relive the glory days of Star Fox, hence why Zero was an almost textbook example of a rehash (including verbatim 64 dialogue). He didn't make it for longtime fans of the series, he made it because he's losing grip on what his audience wants, and also because he wanted to push the Wii U's gimmicks on something.
To be honest, I did get better. I don't know if it was because of muscle memory but it did get easier over time. Granted, nothing is ever as accurate as the gamepad because they deliberately made third person obtuse.
NO KRYSTAL
NO BUY
>hence why
Never type or say this.
Zero would've been great had he not gone for the gimmick. That's the core of the problem. The slowdown for the game comes from having to have two screens so they had to design the levels around that limitation. Had they just NOT GONE for that gimmick everything would've been fine.
die
>multiplayer bingo battle mode was literally the best new multiplayer mode that has been created since Smash Bros.
>3D World came out the same year
>W101 multi
Shut up, Miyamoto.
I wanted more games like Assault. I think Namco did a good job, despite it not being as good as 64.
Watch that ending again and tell me that Star Fox Zero is a well-made game.
I kind of liked it after about 5 hours. Once I got used to the controls Zero became addicting. My problem is the choices that were made, such as that horrible boss on Fichina, and the one in Titania. Also, the fucking gyrowing is retarded. I know Shiggy wants people to like his strange shit but put that away and just develop games.
