I haven't played 8, 9, or 12 so I can't speak to those. I can name like six party members from 6 and I played it a few months ago. Can do most of 7. All of 10 but the cast is small so not really fair.

And Celes's subplot was coming over the fact that she is technically a enemy in the group and a traitor to the Empire, And her falling in love with Han solo is the way she overcomes this.

I remember his dead gf in the basement, but after he rejoins the party there was never any moment between the Celes and Locke. The game never showed either of them in love with each other. It hinted it a couple of times but it never went anywhere or resolved itself.

I think the game tries to be character driven but doesn't really do so effectively. I also dislike that most character development is in monologues instead of interactions. I also think it has one of the most busted battle systems in the series.

Honestly I'm playing Final Fantasy I right now and the combat is so fucking bland yet somehow it's still entertaining and comfy to play. I don't even have a nostalgia factor really either because I was ~8 or so at the time and was too stupid to not die in the forest immediately after leaving the first town.
