>lied about the GTX 970 having 4GBs with 3.5GB controversy >makes developers push unnecessary features that provide nothing to gameplay and only serve to slow down AMD cards with GameWorks features like PhysX and HairWorks. >locks hardware features behind a mandatory account that tracks telemetry on your PC >GeForce Experience will become a subscription service, offering early access to drivers.
Because AMD keeps shitting the bed with their cards
Leo Flores
you don't have to install geforce experience you can even still install the older one without the login/signin cancer
Daniel Gomez
What the fuck happened to Nvidia anyway? I used to have some problems with ATI back in the day so I switched to Nvidia and I haven't had a single problem since then, but now I'm really starting to consider buying AMD when I decide it's time to upgrade from my 980. Really annoyed they changed shadowplay too, it was fucking perfect before. I'm also afraid to even update my drivers past 362.00 because the drivers recently have been fucking shit.
Jaxson Richardson
>Why the fuck do people continue to buy Nvidia? Same reason Trump won. Because the only other alternative is literal trash.
Noah Lopez
>>GeForce Experience will become a subscription service, offering early access to drivers
What the fuck?
Levi Carter
Also drivers come with forced telemetry now.
Nathaniel Wright
GeForce Experience Club Elite Only $10 a month!
David Cook
you dont need geforce experience, and the drivers dont have telemetry, its geforce experience again. although I agree nvidia is being anti consumer as fuck especially with the gsync/free sync which im surprised OP didnt include in his arguments
Jonathan White
performance. Stability. We all know they are a dogshit company but even when people are rooting for AMD they go all Ralph Wiggum and make products that appeal to nobody except people on a very very tight budget. Even a used GTX970/980 for like $200 is still as powerful as most people on that type of monetary restriction will need.
Kevin Sanchez
The drivers do have telemetry, you cant avoid installing them but you can disable it trough microsoft autorun.
Dylan Hernandez
Don't forget:
>single-handedly killed the age of advanced physics simulation
Nicholas Wilson
This. All AMD does when nVidia screws up is say "well we're not going to do THAT" and expecting people to jump on their dick for not being nVidia, despite the fact that their hardware only excels on specific benchmarks but utterly sucks in any real-world test.
Then again, what else would you expect from a company that got its start selling knockoff Intel CPUs?
Luke Walker
>DNC primaries are actually proven to be rigged in favor of trash >people still vote for trash because "muh two evils"

what is "custom set up"?
you can literally opt out of installing it if you pay attention for more than two seconds when installing your drivers

This. It's like saying that installing Java updates automatically installs the Ask Toolbar on your browser despite the fact that you can opt out with a single mouse click.

so much bullshit in this thread, jesus
Camden Wilson
1 month of GeForce Experience Club Elite awared to your account.
Zachary Ortiz
They've been outperfoming amd for the last few years. I'd happyily buy a radeon again if amd gets their shit together. Ryzen makes me somewhat optimistic.
Julian Moore
Not really, it forced me to upgrade to play bf1
Angel Ramirez
>it forced me to upgrade to play bf1 My PC is frozen to 2011 specs and won't be upgraded anymore. For exactly what, please?
Nicholas Gutierrez
it didn't force you to do anything, you can still run it without geforce experience
it's called manual driver downloads
Parker Long
Where the fuck is the third party which blows both of these shit companies out of the water? >inb4 Intel Don't make me laugh.
Samuel Stewart
This
I want 490x and I want it to be good. 16gb HBM2 vram. I'll be set for four years if the rumors are true
Owen Thomas
>early access to drivers who in their right mind would ever, ever want this? Last year alone was such a shit show for nvidia drivers, I reverted back to 2014 ones and haven't updated since.
Grayson Peterson
>>GeForce Experience will become a subscription service, offering early access to drivers.
Jacob Torres
Far as I remember reading, you'll also get some free games a la PS+ and some other features, but otherwise it's pretty pointless and you can still get drivers without GFE.
Asher Cox
nvidia is literally comcast/twc there is no choice
Brandon Jackson
>he's thinks a new company will just step in
All competition pulled out over 10 years ago. 3dfx, Matrox (professional only), S3, VIA, Hercules, the list goes on. There's PowerVR but they're concentrating on mobile.
Jose Gomez
because the only competition it gets is a cheap ''not so powerful'' alternative called amd, and the useless shit called intel
I wish there was a third option, to have more competition
John Bailey
>locks hardware features behind a mandatory account that tracks telemetry on your PC What?

By 2020 nVidia is a goner and it will be Intel iGPU only.
Zachary Harris
This is a good thing, all those Nvidia fanboys will give money to the driver team to develop better drivers, so us redpilled Nvidia users, who use Nvidia just for the performance will get benefits without having to waste a single penny.
Connor Butler
Yeah I just read through the Elite subscription thing, that's total bullshit
Drivers are rolled out just like they always are
All it is is free games, in game skins, shit like that. There is absolutely zero mention of early access to any drivers
Adrian King
>>lied about the GTX 970 having 4GBs with 3.5GB controversy It still had 4GB of memory, just the last 0.5GB was slightly slower. You autistic retard.

Because too many don't even compare AMD cards and see how shit nvidia really is. They just mindlessly buy nvidia because it gives them 5% higher fps, but for 20% more money.
What was the last thing that nvidia made that benefitted anyone else than them? Oh right...

Literally why on earth would you say one of the most sucessful hardware companies is going to die out in three years? Thats like the retarded argument intel will be dead by 2030. They could shit the bed for the next decade and still make even.
Brandon Miller
Nigga what? I have gfe3 installed because of shadow play and haven't updated my drivers in like 6 months and I haven't been forced to download anything to play any game.
Bentley Fisher

>friend tasks me with finding the best gpu he can guy for under £250 >do a couple days research on it >gtx 1060 vs 480 is the obvious one >gtx 1060 6gb zotac model is the same price as a stock reference rx 480 at £230 >tell friend to buy 1060 6gb zotac
Amds pricing is shit. I checked ocuk literally last week and 1060 3gb is the same price as the rx 470 both at their cheapest models. It's been like this since the 390 and 970 days too. Only Americans get good amd prices.
Also >amd optimized and sponsored game with aftermarket gpu
Christopher Rodriguez
I doubt that very much but Intel are the only ones at this point who could do it. AMD have the APU/iGPU foothold anyway. I personally see NVIDIA gaining even more market share and AMD pulling out or just sticking to low end/APU. Even though the 480 is at the very least equal to the 1060 the 1060 will always sell more, even if more expensive. For that gamers can go fuck themselves and lay in the bed they have made. It will be a glorious day when midrange cards cost as much as a high end, as seen already with the 10X0 series.
>Literally why on earth would you say one of the most sucessful hardware companies is going to die out in three years? Old enough to seen 3Dfx been a total goner. for nV it's: No access to x86-64. Total failure in the mobile market. Desktop is dead by 2020. >It will be a glorious day when midrange cards cost as much as a high end, as seen already with the 10X0 series. The market for "cards" will be gone by 2020. iGPU will be the norm.
Jordan Mitchell
Pcpartpicker doesn't even show ocuk and they gave the best UK prices and even some of the best prices in Europe. Many people import from them.
Logan Bennett
>slightly slower
shill detected. accessing the slowrer 500mb actually decreases your performance hence game devs and Nvidia made a patch not access it and games would only max out at 3.0 to 3.5, So it's a fucking 3.5 card you mong. They were forced to settle and agreed to issue a refund which mean they lied!
Charles Sullivan
And yet is making nearly double AMD in sales
hmmmm...............
Aaron Morgan
...
Aaron Cruz
Notice how the 1060 3gb is consistently cheaper than the rx 480 in normal pricing aside from the single 480 4gb on sale for £180.
Anthony King
The 1060 3 GB is also weaker than both the 4 GB and 8 GB RX 480.
oh fug this is a good deal i need to order this shit before christmas shitters come along and buy them all up
Jace Russell
why are you posting ancient benchmarks
Adam Price
See, but those do't count, and/or I don't even like those games.
Sebastian Rogers
It varies on a game by game basis. TPU's performance summary puts it exactly on par with a rx 480 8gb.
Nathaniel Russell
>upgrade to 1070 expecting to max out everything >Hitman still giving me 40fps on Marrakech
fuck this game

doesnt amd get a ton of weird real world glitches and bad stuff? seems like nvidia is the choice because it just works

I've heard that one before.
John White
those are not comparable cards, and those prices are hilariously outdated
Is this what AMDrones have to stoop to?
Lincoln Thompson
Hitman stutters even on a Titan X Pascal. Just like Mafia 3. These games just have poor optimization. Although DX12 in Hitman runs very nice lately, Dx11 on the other hand is horrible.
These stutters are related to streaming.
Julian Mitchell
Hitman is one of the worst optimized games I've ever played. I only have the paris map but I get crazy and unbearable stuttering with fluctuating frame times for some unknown reason. I actually had to uninstall it because I literally couldn't play it.
Anthony Jenkins
wat
Ayden Moore
>TPU's performance summary puts it exactly on par with a rx 480 8gb. It actually ranks it ~7% faster at 1080p and ~9% faster at 1440p.
Juan Rodriguez
They didn't about how much it had. They lied about how fast it was.
Isaac Evans
>unnecessary features The best smoke & 100+ fps particular systems I've seen in my life. If that is "unnecessary", then what tressfx then?
David Davis
I'm talking about the 3gb model.
Nathaniel Hill
He's just a buttmad AMDfag angry that his poorfag-tier card can't handle the features that nVidia cards can handle with ease.
Michael Jones
>tfw r9 390x and getting outperformed by a 970 cos my CPU is old
Isaac Cruz
Well I bought a 970 about a year ago knowing full well about the 3.5 GB of VRAM. The reason being a few things.
It was the best thing that fell in my price range. 3.5 GB of VRAM won't make a difference for me since I play at 1080p. And most importantly it uses far less power than it's AMD competitors meaning it generates far less heat. That's a big deal for me considering I live in a hot region and usually have my door closed which means my room can get very hot while playing games. And heat has not been an issue since I bought it. So it was a wise decision.
Juan Perez
>Company becomes progressively more jewish because of no competition Who could have seen it coming?
Jordan Kelly
You're right - the 780ti costed way more than a 290x upon release.
You fucking called it.
Nicholas Green
See you nVidia fags in 2 years when the 470 outperforms the 1060
John Morris
>those are not comparable cards ?? Those cards directly competed with one another on release.
Carson Ross
>Those cards directly competed with one another on release.
Well he is technically right - the 290x annihilates a 780ti these days.
Gavin Murphy
Why do people post stock benchmarks when literally nobody in this thread has a stock reference shitty blower cooler gpu? Post real benchmarks which are representative of the average consumer or fuck off.
Joshua James
>See you nVidia fags in 2 years when the 470 outperforms the 1060 GCN is due for an replacement. AMD will simply drop driver support and leave you in the cold. They have no other choice, the company is too small to support previous architectures.
Christopher Reed
It's kind of funny that Arkham Knight runs better on AMD GPUs considering all the Goyworks crap in it. The true makings of a shit port.
Isaac Thompson
You know that soon you'll not be able to download drivers manually anymore, right?
Brayden Johnson
It's already happening. The 390 has 15% more stream processors than the 480 yet is struggling hard in the latest titles to the point where the 970 is beating it again.
1080 Ti when. Where's the glorious 4K 60FPS age without spending 1200$ on a fucking Titan.
Austin Hughes
>Even though the 480 is at the very least equal to the 1060 the 1060 will always sell more, even if more expensive. Except outside the US AMD cards are retardedly expensive
Ayden Walker
With how bad a port it was I'm surprised it used any goyworks features considering consoles couldn't even hope to touch those settings.
Christian Baker
They're better for the environment

William Stewart
>runs better on AMD GPUs >all the goyworks crap in it Boy, you do realize AMD GPUs don't support goyworks? Of course it runs better, but looks like garbage.
Jaxson Myers
Uhh, the only goyworks feature that doesn't work is the enhanced smoke/debris. Everything else functions on AMD GPUs.
Leo Morris
The only good thing about watch dogs 2 is the cpu threading which is - frankly - incredible.
