No. Furries refer to "furry characters" as furry. Any self-respecting artist/character designer/creator that isn't, would never refer to them as such. They aren't created as "furry characters". Spreading misinformation about what to call these sorts of characters doesn't help anyone, and only calls negative attention to them.

I've read from talented artists and creators that shy away from creating anthropomorphic, or "anthro" animal characters because of the negative connotations of having a character referred to as "furry". I'm still glad for those that can design these characters and have them end up looking really interesting/cool without them looking like "furbait", like in this Zelda bird's case.
