BallisticNG has cockpit views. Then again nobody used the nose camera in wipeout because its impossible to use.

I'm still new to fast. How is it that you fast so much that you fly over the race?

Barracuda is a fast ship, zen is a fast speedclass, and Hyperspeed exists to only make things even faster.
I usually go for a full 5 perfect laps, they are too long to make webms of so I just upload them to youtube.

This game doesn't have that cool wall sliding mechanic from the PS1 wipeouts, does it? Doesn't look like it from the webms, haven't tried the game myself

Wipeout 3 slapped on the cockpit overlay but the camera was still stuck at the front of the ship. I always wanted to see the whole ship since the cockpits are at the back

Wipeout is fun when you're not just flying over everything. On a different tangent, why is it that ever time there is a Wipeout thread, an F-Zero fag slips in and starts talking shit about it. F-Zero is pretty fun too, I only played X though. I like Wipeout more though

people like GX for being oh so "fast" but really the game is just extremely buggy and exploitable. Why this is a positive for people I don't know but whenever I see GX gameplay I think it looks goofy and stupid as fuck. not the same user but I have always enjoyed X more for being only a bit less completely broken.

I have, but I don't break it to obscene levels like most people do whenever I see them play. It's really just 8/10 otherwise, a good game but nothing to reach "enlightenment" about.

I really liked the comic book style X had going, was fun ramming into people while some kind of midi metal riff is playing in the background. But I found that the fastness only came from how quickly the scenery goes by, while the tracks themselves are quite wide so the actual gameplay didn't feel all that quick unless you're really good and doing all kinds of tricks. Maybe it works better with GX because there's more scenery there. I find that Wipeout games feel fast for a different reason, while the actual speeds don't get that high, the tracks have lots of quick turns and you're essentially driving what feels like a speedboat through a very narrow canal

This is why I've always preferred wipeout and the like compared to most AG racers. I'm a big fan of F-zero, Jet Moto, Ballistics, Redout, Rollcage, and XGIII, but what most of them of them lack is the level of precision required to go faster speeds and give difficulty like wipeout does. Most of the difficulty from these games is just dealing with AI, not the track.
Except for XGIII I guess, because holy shit 1500G.

It's Ballistic NG, it's like this community project to bring Wipeout to PC since they shut down the Wipeout studio. At first there was another game called Slipstream GX but that didn't really go anywhere, then someone more skilled started working on this game and more people moved onto it as well

Why don't F-Zero fans start working on an F-Zero clone for PC? As soon as the Wipeout studio was shut down people got together and started working on their own game. It's been over a decade since the previous F-Zero

IIRC a single poor looking one was attempted but it ripped off F-zero clear as day and Nintendo most likely DMCA'd it into the ground.

Mastering a good future racer is almost a Zen experience.

It looks sort of alright I guess. It just seems a bit confused in that it doesn't really seem to know if it wants to be wipeout or not, initially it started off looking very different but then it's gradually become more wipeout-like with the handling, at least it looks like that. Don't know if it's any fun though, looks shiny if nothing else

IIRC, apparently even the vehicle ratings (for boost, grip, etc) were completely made up. Some people did extensive testing, and noticed a discrepancy between lower ranked boost vehicles vs higher ranked ones; for example, Black Bull allegedly has an E rated boost, the worst in the game, yet testing shows that's among the best. Also with Black Bull, it's rated at A when it comes to grip, but the vehicle slips and slides a lot and can fly off the track quite easy, unlike what an A rank should do.
