>4K this >GTX 1080 that >144hz this Is this what all of you argue about? Worthless innate shit that don't matter and keeps you blind from what gaming is supposed to be? Find me a game in the last 5 years both on PC and on consoles that have as much versatility and amount of stuff you can do in the world other than Breath of the Wild.
Non of the games released so far has improved on ANYTHING that wasn't done better years ago.
>physics hasn't improved >A.I hasn't improved >Gameplay hasn't evolved > Narratives hasn't improved >Censorship everywhere >Stale boring worlds >Ideological propaganda up the ass >Movie/Walking simulators >Unoptimized games up the ass both on PC and consoles What has actually improved? Shinier graphics, that's all you care about, argue about and talk about. No wonder gaming is in the state that it is, remember that when you are also part of the problem when you lump in and say that normies are the problem.
Dominic Edwards
You're asking a meme board that spouts out shitposts at a constant rate to stop and think about some of gamings biggest problems. Good luck.
Anthony Roberts
>Nintendo fan talks about things not evolving
Amazing.
Joseph Morales
Good hardware has never made a game worse. Bad hardware makes games worse all the time. >but other things can be bad too Yes. How does that let bad hardware off the hook?
Benjamin Wright
But it's okay when Nintendo does it.
Ian James
>Nintendrone on about things that don't evolve >He says while playing super mario bros #234874 with one new powerup
Really tickles my neurons.
Caleb Sanchez
>Good hardware has never made a game worse. Unless you have a Pro, that shit runs regular PS4 games like crap.
Gavin Long
Nintendo is the worse offender. Literally rehash after rehash
Julian Peterson
We have come to a point where we have sufficient power especially on PC to improve everything said on the OP. Find me a game better than F.E.A.R in 2016. I'll wait. No game has surpassed what that game has done. In fact, we have gone backwards.
Owen Russell
This is true, but it begs the question. Will anyone do it? Devs don't even reach out for the full potential of consoles like PS4 and Bone, they just use the standard. That's why we have games on those consoles running like shit and looking like shit while weaker consoles like the WiiU somehow manage to play games like Xenoblade flawlessly. It's their own console and their own games, it's weaker but at least they push it. I was expecting to see something akin to that coming from games which had Sony first party intervention, like TLG, and we both know how that turned out.
Power is important, but we are simply upgrading standards, not pushing them forward.
Luke Williams
Better than nogames
Hunter Torres
>Power is important, but we are simply upgrading standards, not pushing them forward. And that's where my conclusion lies. Gaming is way too liberal for lack of a better word. That standard has to be set and forced upon developers to ALWAYS meet it. There is no reason why gaming is in the state it is right now, fuck, developers can't even keep a game locked at 30FPS these days, are you for real? Where are these incompetent programmers coming from. So much potential being squandered, and the thing is, most indie games also follow the same philosophical dead-end design that AAA have.
Lincoln Perry
>TLG Bruh. While it had problems it did do some stuff I actually didn't think I would ever see on a console. Like Trico's feather being all individual things with thir own physics and shadows and etc. It's a very limited version of the trick Pixar used in Monsters Inc, never though I would see someone use something like that in real-time rendering. Also both Trico and The Boy had some of the sweetest animations in video games of this or any other generation past. Trico, particulary has very lifelike animarions with movements remembering dogs and in some cases cats. If only it had less clipping on Trico's body it would be perfect. They did exactly what OP asked for. Instead of going "muh graphix" they did something new, and was nice.
Zachary Diaz
hahahaha
Thomas Richardson
Two words bitch:
Uncharted
4
That game shits all over BOTW.
Hudson Scott
>its another "its okay when Nintendo does it" episode
Zachary Allen
and this blurry, pop-in ridden garbage will also not improve anything. stay in your basement you fucking nintenyearold.
Lincoln Bailey
Uncharted 4 is not a game.
Not an argument, read the OP again and see that it's not about your pathetic console war, drone.
Ryan Reed
>indie Don't even get me started on those fucks.
>Like Trico's feather being all individual things Are you fucking kidding me... this has been done with hair already even on previous gens. Fucking hair strands! It wasn't even something that new, ICO had the base going, this was indeed an expansion but was quite weak and very unresponsive. It was cute, but is that all you want from a game from a technical viewpoint? Heck, with the hardware PS4Pro has, or even the PS4, all of this should be standard and inexcusable. TLG is a PS3 game.
>Uncharted 4 Made me chuckle.
Christian Bell
Which game had individual hair strands?
John Clark
>TLG is a PS3 game. That runs like shit on PS4, which makes it even worse. I like the concept of the game but it's nothing groundbreaking.
Adrian Gomez
You know there IS a middle ground here, right?
PS4 Pro's out, and Xbone Scorpio is coming out late 2017/early 2018, and that means that more and more games are going to take advantage of their features and make console games look the best they ever have.
Nobody expected the Switch to run at PS4 Pro/Xbone Scorpio levels. Most people didn't expect it to run at regular PS4 levels. Hell, some people didn't even expect it to run at XBONE levels.
But to put out a brand spankin' new console in 2017 that only runs slightly more powerful that your last console, which is based on hardware that was mid-high end in fucking 2005, is pretty goddamn ridiculous you've gotta admit.
I'm not gonna mince words; unless Nintendo is able to catch lightning in a jar twice and gets fucking Nintendo Wii numbers right out of the gate, 3rd party support will be just like the Wii U and be totally dead within two years.
Gabriel Myers
Never ever nintencuck
Carson Rivera
That is a different argument altogether. Read the OP again.
Asher Williams
I agree that it could be more powerful, but lack of power isnt why the Wii u didnt have third party support was because of the system architecture and second screen gimmick.
Without the second screen system and PPC architecture it will be way easier for devs to port games over even if they look a bit worse.
Jacob Bailey
Not the same guy. SE tech demos for PS3 showed this technology working in engine. It was not applied to FFXIII though.
>more and more games are going to take advantage of their features and make console games look the best they ever have This isn't happening, at least for the Pro. They changed the architecture so much that it's like a PS4.5 that is barely compatible with PS4 games. It's a serious issue that brings more problems to devs than it should have and is also a dick move for buyers since most of the promises it brings are mere lies because it can only get close, not actually do what is advertised. I hope the Scorpio learns from Sony's mistake. I seriously wish the Pro would be forgotten in favour of the regular PS4 because of all the Problems it brings. But people eat Sony's shit like it's gourmet food so, nothing I can do.
Joshua Hernandez
Dude, nobody wants Uncharted, not even PCucks.
Ian Ward
Would you care to suggest some ways to improve AI, physics, gameplay, or narrative? You can complain as much as you want but put forth a degree of effort in suggestions, otherwise no one will understand what you mean when you complain about nothing.
Brody Cruz
I honestly don't give a fuck if i'm playing a 1080 or a microwave as long as the games on it are fun.
Not ridiculous, no nothing. It's the only thing i demand from games, and BotW looks pretty sweet in that regard without the need for a ps4Pro specs.
Luke Sullivan
It wasn't only that. Remember how the Wii U launch had quite a few third party games and only one or two first parties? There were some articles stating that one of the Wii problems was that third party companies did not want to compete with Nintendo on their own consoles, since it would, of course, sell worse. So to prove that they could arrange better launch dates in favour of third parties, as an act of good will, they left the launch lineup to them and we all saw how that went, ports all over the place, then Nintendo started launching first party titles and third parties started delaying their launches, porting exclusives and other stuff because they simply know that, when competing on equal grounds, their games just wont sell.
I don't say this for all third parties though, there are some that keep delivering no matter the platform yet most of them are japanese, while the ones that usually complain about power and sales are mostly western.
Aiden Nelson
>Not the same guy. SE tech demos for PS3 showed this technology working in engine. It was not applied to FFXIII though. "Techdemons". Yeah, imagined that. Try running games with the same settings and things on the "techdemos". I'll wait. Hint: Your PS3 would fucking melt trying to render Lighting's hair (and just Lighting's, let the other characters equal) at the individual hair strand level while also running the game.
Jacob Gonzalez
If you have played games, especially older games you wouldn't even ask that question, but you are right in that in an argument there should be a problem and a solution presented.
>AI The best example I can give for A.I right now on the top of my head if F.E.A.R's AI, soldiers take cover, discuss tactics with themselves and flank you based on the location that they last saw you. They don't just go straight to where you are without ever seeing you like the majority of games are programmed to. They also throw grenade and force you out of cover, and much more. There are plenty of videos out there showing how great their A.I is. Now, is it perfect? Of course not, remember that F.E.A.R in it's day was considered a AA game. We are in 2016- near 2017 and you are telling me that in all these time we haven't had a game that matches or even surpasses that A.I? Come on, son. Another example of good A.I is Halo 3.
>Physics Is pretty self explanatory, again look at F.E.A.R.
>Gameplay Gameplay can be improved by the amount of versatility you can do in-game and how much depth and complexity the game has and how much freedom of action your character can have. Instead of giving freedom, gameplay these days are very limited and often features very basic action. We are also going backwards with the whole fad of movie-esque games.
Jordan Watson
Well PCucks have shit taste
John Murphy
Let me put it in a very blunt way, OP, and also shouting
>WE CAN TRY NOT AS HARD AS THE COMPETITION TO CONFORM TO THE STANDARD GRAPHICS CURRENTLY IN USE BECAUSE OUR GAMES ARE SO GOOD YOU'RE GONNA FORGIVE US EITHER WAY BECAUSE >WE >ARE >NINTENDO >Why can't we get both? Are you poor? >GRAPHICS DO NOT MATTER WITH NINTENDO, YOU'RE IN FOR OUR GAMES
Sounds like trite elitist garbage, and it's what is killing them. Who in their right mind amongst third parties will ever take them seriously if they don't take the business seriously to begin with?
>Release the GC over a year too late >bombs >WE HAVE TO CHANGE DIRECTION >Scores a flash in the pan with an overclocked GC and a remote >THAT IS CLEARLY THE RIGHT THING TO DO
Nintendo has been missing the point for 15 years. If you want to win people back you give them TW3 and Mario, you give them RE7 and Zelda, you don't force them to choose otherwise you out yourself as the retarded sidekick and you'll never gain the main spot again. Not like they can anyway, they lost that chance when the WiiU turned out to be an overclocked XBOX360.
Anthony Cox
>Narrative Hmm, if only there was someone or a race of people that could show us how to write good narratives and give us guidelines/fundamentals to follow. Oh yeah, I think those were called the GREEKS. Are you seriously implying that games today have any modicum of even character progression? No, they don't.
William Nelson
This is true. Third party titles actually worth a damn that were relased on Wii U are still remembered to this day. W101 and Bayo2 are such an example. Same happened with the Wii.
If the PS4 couldn't run a PS3 tech demo then it would really be a disappointment don't you think? I mean, that's what TLG basically is a PS3 tech demo with not much around it running on next gen hardware. Also, the size of Trico helps since they can increase feather size and make the ones on the outside animated while hiding the regular animated fur. It's an old technique and not anything new. Another thing that helps is that the environments (not the design structure) are quite simple and there's not much out of the borders. It should all be simple to render and play, yet it's a mess. TLG is not a good example.
Bentley Williams
If uncharted 4 was ported to PC, nobody would even bother to pirate it.
But they would bloodbourne. Some games are just shit mate
Carson Myers
I'm not speaking for anyone else here, but I'm really not seeing anything to get hyped about in the new Zelda. It doesn't look like a good game to me.
Elijah Walker
Ya cause shit games get 4 sequels and tons of awards right?
Gabriel Wilson
Argumentum Ad Populum.
Elijah Bennett
>awards from corrupt media meaning anything yes this includes awards for games that I like, they're all irrelevant
Xavier Robinson
Get better taste.
Christopher Cooper
I speak for myself when I see BotW as the very first Zelda but with a lot more to do. It's a good feeling and from the videos they have shown so far they also fixed some of the things that were keeping the series stale for quite some time. General complaints about some of the fixed mechanics too have been fixed to some extent.
I'll have to wait and see if it actually delivers, for now the only thing I'm scared about is if it actually has very few dungeons and how the game will handle the general progression.
Actually, yes, they do. Here's an example for you in terms of sequels, Knack. About rewards, you should be big enough to understand how those work and how gaming journalism and media has been a mess for years to come. If not then you can say Uncharted is as good as Assassin's Creed. It follows the same principle, except AC has gone to shit much faster despite the stellar start it had.
Nathan Robinson
Taste my friend. You lack it.
Matthew Perry
Not an argument.
Luis Morales
so which one is it gonna be
Michael Russell
One of the problems about commenting on the AI in BotW is that without the actual game, we don't know how developed it is or how it acts in different scenarios. In the little amount of footage that we've seen, the moblins react interestingly enough to Link. They light their weapons on fire when a fire is available and avoid dangers like bombs if they notice them. Simple enough, but I'm also assuming they are baseline easy enemies in the game. Other than speculation, there isn't much to go on. I can't say for a fact that it's good or bad in BotW, but I agree with you that plenty of modern games aren't focusing on these things.
Gameplay and AI go hand in hand and will directly influence player interaction. The better the two the more impact the game should have.
Parker Williams
Both of you raise very interesting points but there's also a field we haven't touched much in this thread that can actually influence the player as much as enemy AI even if that one is pretty simple in the game. Game design. The way games are structured was one of the biggest things in the past simply because the AI and programming were all quite simple so they had to turn to other "external" sources to ramp up the game's difficulty. It's something that we've been losing a lot lately as well as designs and engines are becoming more and more streamlined. I don't really want to bring up the linear corridor meme but the most we've had for a few years are very clear main paths with tiny branches or barren fields of nothing to make the games seem bigger. There are of course exceptions and games that use linearity to their advantage, but very few are done right and even end up doing worse than games we've had years ago. It's like people don't even bother learning from the old games, they just take the easy path forward and find a scapegoat when questions about issues or relevant development aspects are asked.
Aaron Allen
I'm not arguing with a nintendrone
Hudson Garcia
Ask ur wife's son
Jeremiah Sullivan
It's clearly bait. Ignore it.
Daniel Bailey
I don't think these things mentioned in this thread is going to be improved upon anytime soon. Unless a developer not only read but is able to understand what is being said in this thread. We will probably see this in the far future from some indie game guy or some AA game designer and everyone is going to go crazy about how it's a new concept or something.
Jacob Ortiz
I am a dev and have read everything you said
The fact is I am incompetent, can barely make a living, and take on tasks which I cannot realistically complete alone. Its hard as fuck to make a decent videogame.
Nicholas Stewart
Nintendrones have retarded standards
Christopher Sanchez
Zelda drones are hilarious levels of cancer. The fact that you think this shitty game does anything new and unique is laughable and shows that you literally play nothing but shitty Nintendo games.
Charles Green

show me one game that lets you do this
Andrew Robinson
Crysis
Samuel Ward
Or almost any other semi free world game
Joseph Smith
really?
Angel Thomas
Crysis 1 was one of those games where you could have some form of versatility which was actually pretty fun. Those games are rare though. Look at Nanosuitninja for some good gameplay.
Thomas Rivera
>almost any >rare
So it's common or it's rare?
Lincoln Evans
Rare.
Michael Scott
The Wii, The Wii U, The 3DS, The Switch, The Virtual Boy, Microphones on Famicom Controllers, Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Splatoon, Paper Mario, Kirby's Epic Yarn, adding freaking Bayonetta to Smash Brothers, Hyrule Warriors, Zelda Majora's Mask, Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link, Earthbound, Pokemon Go, Tingle's Rosey Rupeeland.
Nintendo is no stranger to doing weird, experimental shit. What kind of games do you buy? Chest-high wall hugging simulator? Floating camera at the sights of a gun 2: Electric Boogaloo?
Jack Jenkins
>OP lists censorship among other negative things >Says nothing positive about Nintendo >Still gets called a Nintendrone Good thing o know I can still come to Sup Forums and laugh at idiots when I'm feeling down.
