Is anyone else honestly starting to feel a little shaken up after all the news? I'm scared. Nintendo cannot fuck up again, they can't AFFORD to fail yet again. Look I'm not asking to dominate the fucking market because that's impossible but just don't fucking flop, please. Please. Just don't.

It's going to flop, not even zelda can save it

is the reveal direct sucks (which at this point is at a dangerously high percentage) it might

Letting sony control the market is like letting trump win. It's all fun and games until it finally happens and then everything is worse for everyone.

the wii u was a good console

That also sold like garbage

Good games, shit console

>Nintendo cannot fuck up again, they can't AFFORD to fail yet again.
Nintendo is the only manufacturer that actually can afford a failure.

good falseflag

just kidding, terrible falseflagging

Depends entirely on how much money they actually invest into the Switch

Also shareholders might start to get sweaty if another console fails

Hello, i'm here to just quickly post that anyone that come on this thread with any post containing power and WiiU or mobile phones is wrong, because WiiU not only is only an ancient Open GL 3.3 tier device that don't have even 30% of the tricks a tegra can do, as its a system that only gives the games 1GB to work with, while Switch gives you three.
And on phones, they're all limited by the Open GL ES2.0 api, that don't allow shit that is common even on the Xbox 360/PS3 like floating point textures, vertex shader texture fetch etc etc etc.. and can't even run the full profile HL2, no matter how fast they are, so still not comparable.

The only systems you can compare its grunt to is the PS4/Xbox one and modern PC gpus, where it handly loses to em.

>Letting sony control the market is like letting trump win. It's all fun and games until it finally happens and then everything is worse for everyone.

Maybe Nintendo shouldn't have broken the CD deal with Sony, then it wouldn't happen. Nintendo only has themselves to blame for being assholes to everyone to the gaming industry.

If you're scared now just wait until they charge $300 for it and $60 for games.

>literally shaking right now
dumb nintendrone

>Good games
Not really. For the most part they were just okay.

If they don't undermine themselves by also selling a regular ass handheld, they're fine.

A mainline Pokemon game will keep the system alive.

Didn't they say that Smash would keep the Wii U alive

Granted they did released on the 3DS as well, but still.

It will do fine.
Won't outsell the PS4 or became the next craze, but well, it is a device where you can pet a lopunny in 720p, so it will sell well.

They even fucked up SB with their dlc bullshit and that god awful prompt everytime I start the game.

The switch is combining both systems, so you'll have to buy one to get mainline Nintendo games of any kind. That's the difference.

Let's say Nintendo fucks up so bad that they go under, what then? Would they sell off their IPs to avoid bankruptcy or take them to the grave?
Would we be really losing all that much?

Yeah they can afford one and it was the Wii U.
If the Switch bombs just as hard selling only 10M lifetime then Nintendo is either pulling a 4DS by 2020 or just going completely 3rd party.

this, there are a few standouts but it was mostly mediocre stuff like wooly world, hyrule warriors, kirby and the rainbow curse star fox zero and the like

even some of the games people say are good like dkc:tf didn't do it for me

There were some really great games the first 2-3years. It really only started being terrible afterwards.

That console was a piece of shit. God awful menus, saving features, chained to a brick gamepad, and no hdd. I liked the Wii over this shit.

>they can't AFFORD to fail yet again
Technically they could. But that's its own discussion.
Nintendo has made good profits on every generation. Even the giant flop that was the Wii U, has still made them tons of money. It just underperformed heavily bu it has still made a steady profit.

And for all the PS4 dicksucking, even though the 3DS may not rival the DS in sales. It's still the most successful system of the generation.

Losing market shares hurt, but as far as actual money goes. Nintendo should be pretty well off. Unless the R&D costs for the Switch have simply been out of this world, they should be more than good.

Considering the Gamecube failed with Smash, that's a pretty shit argument. Also, 3DS Smash sold kaboodles.

Again, if they don't undermine themselves, the system will survive. Possibly not thrive or even do well, but survive. Pokemon alone ensures that.

Has anyone actually used the term "shaken" without trolling?

Most realistic scenario is Sony purchasing them then producing their IPs as Playstation exclusives.

Sorry my phone supports Vulkan, your entire post is BS.

Smash has become much more popular since then.

>Rainbow Curse
>Mediocre

I have no idea how someone can be this apathetic to such a good game.

painfully obvious false flag

it can support all modern standards
no worries

they have stated that all their IP's are going to the grave with them in the case that Nintendo goes down.

the switch is already destined to be a flop just like the wii u

And it still sold less than Melee.
Point is, Smash isn't going to keep a system afloat. Core Pokemon titles have been keeping handhelds afloat for twenty years now.

If they were initially marketing the Switch as a portable first, then the power leak would've not been as disastrous.

What sounds more impressive: a handheld that's 30% more powerful than the Wii U or a console that's 30% more powerful than the Wii U

Thank god, I rather them die out than become complete shit with MS or Sony.

I don't think this half and half shit is going to pan desu. Best case scenario it's just a 4ds with slightly more games. Worst case it ends up being the worst of both worlds, shitty performance on traditional tv console games and shitty portability.

>they can't AFFORD to fail yet again
They can, it's fucking Nintendo m8

If this one fails, they'll just release a SuperNintendo2.0

Now though if that fails as well, they most likely will go the Sega Way but not become shit.

In any case, Nintendo is stubborn as fuck when it comes to these things.

>3rd party
Nintendo would likely sooner forgo the foreign markets than go 3rd party.
Everyone's fixation with Nintendo going 3rd party is almost kind of cute.

Nintendo's Dreamcast.

>Is anyone else honestly starting to feel a little shaken up after all the news?

you mean after Sup Forums complained about video games again? play what you want and ignore every poster here including me

Nintendo is so stingy with money that they could fail continuously without a problem. It's why they take so many stupid risks.
Get over it.

If the Switch fails I think there will be a real consideration as to whether or not they release another console. They'd have to weigh the money they are spending on R&D, production, warehousing, shipping, etc. with the money being brought in from platform royalties, peripheral mark ups, software sales to a captive audience.

>more nintendo clothes and shit than ever
>selling $13 plastic toys that doesn't do anything
>STILL selling pokecoins
>literally opening an amusement park section
yeah shareholders are shaking in their boots

Trump is great Jew faggot

it was ok

It was novel at first but once that wore off it's just an ok game and having to hold the gamepad with one hand and look at it the whole time instead of my nice tv is inelegant and clunky

>yfw relaxing in bed with 2-3 pillows stacked beneath your neck head, with a big comfy blanket spread over your lower half and a thermos filled with your favorite drink, while playing monster hunter 5 in glorious 1080/60fps
>yfw you glance out the window and see 6ft of snow but it's all good because your room heater is blowing the warmest, purest air to keep you nice and toasty
>yfw a subtle knock on your door, and a voice reveals it's your mother asking if you'd like for papa to run down to your favorite pizza place and pick you up a large two toppping with a side order of cheesy sticks and some hot wings
>yfw after you tell her yes, another knock on the door reveals your older sister, wearing only her one piece pajama shirt, ask she ask if she can relax under the covers with you while she plays her nintendo switch
>yfw bundled up next to your 10/10 bangin' ass sister playing games while papa is on his way to pick up the most bomb ass dinner and mama is downstairs cleaning like a good little housewife should
worth the $250 dollars

>having to hold the gamepad with one hand and look at it the whole time instead of my nice tv

t. never used a graphics tablet or took an art class in their life

If you have any sort of coordination, you should be able to not even look at the gamepad.

...

Never ever m8, ironically enough Nintendo is the only company that can take this kind of risk because they are wizard managing their fucking money because they can sell even 100k copies of a game or and still have profits the cheeky bastards. Hell they even got profits for the fucking virtual boy.

Of course if this fails as well they will have to consider things greatly

However, Nintendo is stubborn as fuck. My guess, if I have to take one, is that IF then NX fails, which I hope it doesn't, but if it does, then Nintendo will look to what a lot of people have been saying for a long time and will release basically a Super Nintendo 2.0, and Gamesphere or whatever. Basically just another high power absolutely 0 gimmicks boring standard console. In order to get multiplats and not have developers pull the "underpowered" card anymore.

If that one fails, no stubbornness in my opinion will keep them in the console market.

they can and they will, retarded fanboy

Yes just like Valve will give free unlocks to everyone if steam ever dies.

Their cash reserves since 2012 have been cut roughly in half.

But user the virtual boy was launch in 1995

That's the reason for them diversifying their portfolio in the manner they've done in the last years.

Amiibo, amusement park, cellphone games etc etc

Nintendo releasing the Switch is already a tacit admission that they've lost any real sway over the home console market to Microsoft and Sony, so I don't see SNES 2.0 climbing out of the Switch's [potential] wreckage.

im not, quite simply because all the news are just rumors

To make a snes 2.0,you have to make the third parties make snes tier games.

And that's not possible.
It's like being sega now.

If that's how you want to see it then all right, but SNES2.0 will come if the NX fails.

Of course you'd have to offer a portable option to the market, but they could always just bring back the Gameboy brand or DS one if the first one seems not inclusive and diverse and SJW enough

Depends on how it fails, not if it fails. Nintendo making a few mistakes that displeases people would not get the same response as no one touching the Switch because it game people cancer.

Oh the denial, the nintendrones must be delusional if they're really expecting anything more from the current Nintendo.

>Nintendo releasing the Switch is already a tacit admission that they've lost any real sway over the home console market
No, it's an admission that they split their efforts too much.

It's better that they go all in with one product instead of half assing two.

Let's ne honest, third partys dont want to develope games for Nintendo consoles because always ALWAYS the first party titles from Nintendo are going to be the best sellers on their consoles.

pic related sony first party titles never cannibalize third party games sales.

Well, its still rumors.
It could be even worse you know.

It's not exactly like this.
The problem is that the developers refuse to make games that would please the nintendo audience, and then they whine when the games don't sell well, or they get outsold by shit like shovel knight and sonic.

If the rumors of the Tegra X1 are true, its going to be similar to the 3DS: Nintendo will be the main producer of games, ports will probably happen for a year before dying out like the Wii U, and Japanese third parties will support it with unique titles while western devs will ignore it for the most part outside the odd title or indie game.

I don't think it will be as dire as the Wii U as long as Nintendo sticks to their whole merging the platforms concept, but they cannot produce garbage like they did the last 2 years. They need mainstream games and they need the Japanese market to help it.

If this thing is replacing the 3DS I don't see how it will flop. The 3DS was touch and go for a while there, but it turned itself around and got a load of great games.

If the Switch is predominantly a handheld, it won't be a flop in my eyes, and I'll support it if the games are there. And by games, I mean handheld style, not AAA console, which is what you expect. On a handheld.

Having a mario that don't feel like a new super mario bros title but in """""""""3D""""""""" would help quite a bit.

user, I'm an idort and I don't even own a Wii or WiiU, only a 3DS from Nintendo, however I do currently own a PS4, Xbone and gaming pc, A rumor is a rumor so and im interested in games and not hardware so I am really interested in the system and as long as it gets its share of Nintendo games and some third party games I'll be happy with it.

especially if those 3ds developers start moving projects to the switch.

>timmy 1st bait thread

this board needs to be nuked

They need to announce Pokemon Stars in January with a good reveal. Something like showing every game running at their accurate miniature resolutions ending with SM and suddenly SM goes 720p and the logo Pokemon Stars appears.

Why are you worried? It's Vulkan compliant, that's very good news.

It does. And people need to learn how to fuck sage

I'm terrified.

I'm extremely familiar with processor technology--I work in emulation for a large SoC vendor. It looks like Nintendo has made some incredibly bad decisions with the Switch.

Let's go over all of them. From least panic to most panic:

5. Maxwell is not "the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards."

4. 256 gpu cores is not a high number.

3. 1080p in docked mode is a poor allocation of gpu cores and a hassle for developers. 60fps never.

2. 307MHz is a very very small number.

1. Single gate transistors are old and busted. Using them in an SoC in 2017 is basically like seeing how fast you can finish the 400m dash after amputating your left leg. No one will credit you for the handicap and you ought to be put in an asylum.

don't bother with tech stuff that comes off positives user, it'll get downplayed and deemed useless in favor of the rumors going around

Vulkan doesn't mean shit, phones have Vulkan it's not some magic that'll improve performance.
Plus it's still shit compared to what the PS4 and Xbone have.

why should I be shaken up? I'm not a shareholder. I don't work for Nintendo.

The Switch has the advantage of not being a pain is the ass to make games for, if the Unreal datamine has anything to go by.

I'm a nintendo fan and all my fears came true with this system. I'll buy it anyway, but only because it will be the last nintendo console.

> being shaken now

There are a few things that I come to expect as a Nintendo fan.
>Nintendo never plays into the tech arms race.
>Third parties don't like Nintendo. Porting could literally be copy/paste and ports still wouldn't happen.
>Lesser known first party franchises are lucky to get one game per gen if they get one at all.
>Even their best games are going to feel like they're missing something.

Look at the first party games that are more promised to show up, like Mario, Smash and Zelda, and decide if they're worth it to you.

I guess you're right. I don't know why I even bother.

Vulkan is there to ensure easier porting and compatibility. Doom 2016 would be easy as fuck to port to the Switch.

I'm thinking of getting a PS4 so I can run Modern Warfare with my buds. I've been loyal to Nintendo since NES, but ended up buying PS3 after the Wii flopped. The Wii U wasn't much better, but Nintendo's flagship series (Mario, Donkey Kong, Super Smash, Star Fox, etc.) managed to salvage some of their reputation yet again. I'm going to wait the Switch out until there's more information available and/or great games. My main concern so far is that the switch has an identity crisis. It's too cumbersome to bring around with you without a backpack and because it's designed with portability in mind the hardware is much weaker then other consoles.

>GOD FORBID NINTENDO TRY TO DO SOMETHING NEW

>PLAYING HANDHELD ON YOUR TELEVISION IS SOMETHING NEW AND INNOVATING

It's almost 2017 and you're still hating on 3D World. Some point you're going to have to let it go and accept a quality product.

Nintendo fan as well, and this pretty much sums up how I feel. I never expect their platforms to be filled to the brim with third party support, only the handhelds. Nor do I expect a powerhouse. I get them because I know there will be Nintendo games.

It's really the only mindset one can have, the only realistic mindset.

Waiting is the smart choice, there's literally no good reason to buy it early unless your a "journalist" or fanboy.
If it bombs then you can safely decide to pick it up in a few years at a much lower price with games for cheap. If it's successful then you can not get fucked and get the inevitable "new" Switch that'll come out in a few years cause Nintendo.

It is a quality product, and they even should continue it, but alongside a real 3D mario.

Also they should release an Mario maker 3D to fully capitalize on their blocky scheme.

I know user, it'll be a long, long month before we can talk about this thing without console war shit plaguing every single discussion

Yes, I'd just like to hurry up to January so we can finally get all of this shit out in the open. Though I have a feeling Sup Forums won't be satisfied unless this thing is the second coming of SNES or something.

>If it bombs then you can safely decide to pick it up in a few years at a much lower price
Turned out not to be an option for the wii u for some reason.
Maybe second hand.

I mean, if they fail, they'll just sign an exclusive contract with MS for several years. Seems pretty win-win tbqph.

even if it was this place wouldn't be satisfied, i haven't seen a damn thing this year ANYONE was satisfied with.

The best place to nintendo to publish their stuff is on PC.
PS4 and Xbone publics consist mostly of 13-15 year old whiny teens that hate to be seem as kiddy, thus why games for those consoles are generally gory egofests that avoid sex like a plague.
And nintendo games are for both people younger or older than em.

Nintendo gave the middle finger to Android solely due to piracy. Not sure how likely PC would be.

I'm not saying what nintendo will do, but what they should do.

Get gaben, add nintendo games to steam, profit.

This. I liked 3D World, but it felt more like a stopgap for the Wii U and not a proper full-blown Mario game like 64, Sunshine, or the galaxy games were. Honestly, 3D World should have been a launch title and NSMB Wii U should have never existed.
