A common problem with tabletop and rpg designers is that they dont know how to min max their own games. Admittedly some dont even care how to min max the game.

You CAN make him not useless by upgrading him early, but it'll be a while before you can with his slow speed.

He might be slow but he is not bad, just speed up/down and he can deal massive damage in a couple of rounds, plus he can tank hard. A truly shit pick would be Shana/Miranda.

Meru deals huge magic damage and her additions are tricky as far as i know and Heschel is pretty decent, i used him on my first save file. If only i could have a party WITHOUT Dart in it, i mean come on, in the late game he is more of a hassle than a help, below average both in attack and defense but the divine dragoon spirit redeems him in the end
