has there LITERALLY EVER been a good remake?
Has there LITERALLY EVER been a good remake?
All of them. Old games are garbage. Nostalgiafags are cancerl
This
Look at the Nintendo autism that thinks that the Mario 64 remake looks worse than the original
Resident Evil, no question
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Pokemon HeartGold and Soul Silver
Resident Evil
Odinsphere
REmake
I'll answer your question after you've explained to me what's the difference between "ever" and "LITERALLY EVER" is and if there is none why you are writing like a 14 year old girl on facebook.
Majora's Mask 3D
>REmake
>Twin Snakes
>Windwaker HD
>TLoU HD
>FireRed and LeafGreen
>Odin Sphere Liefdrasir
>Binding of Isaac Rebirth
>Ocarina of Time 3D
>Starfox 64 3D
>Majora's Mask 3D
>play original then remake
>remake is shit
>play remake then try original after being told it's so much better
>original is shit
Yes
Sure
Fucked the artstyle to make it look like clay
Port with 60 FPS
Some could argue that they didn't add a lot
YAAAAAAAASSS
Sure
All they did was reskinned it and called it a day
Same with OoT
Same with OoT, but they changed some things for the worse
Zero mission
Thats about it
>Twin Snakes
No
you appear to have mixed up a bunch of remasters with only a handful of remakes
You really should try the multiplayer in SF64 3D. It's criminal that it's offline only
>New Maps
>Collectible Powerups
>Optional camera mode that shows you the face of your friend next to his name when you're shooting at him.
>Port with 60 FPS
Yeah, I didn't think that through.
>All they did was reskinned it and called it a day
Yes but all three of those games were stuck in N64 Hell. Now there's a version of each that isn't an assault on the eyes. Early 3D is an eyesore.
Only TLoU is a remaster. The rest are remakes.
oot 3d is not just a reskin you retard
I wasn't aware that adding stuff and changing a few things is now _remaking_ an entire game.
Anything that's more than a simple port and especially things with bonus content and changes are remakes.
Like, Kirby Superstar Ultra is a remake. Not a remaster or a port.
>Twin Snakes
>Metal Gear Matrix is good
kys
to me a remake is something that typically did not use anything from the original except basic concept/story -- at most, maybe music tracks
it plays different, looks different, but still has the same roots
ff7 remake is an example of that
if it just added stuff, then it's a remaster with bonus content / expansion.
That's a pretty narrow definition.
To me, FFVII "Remake" isn't even the same game anymore.
a remake implies, at the very least, that it was remade -- how similar it is can vary but if they just used the same damn code and assets, it's still the same game
adding content is just expanding the game, not remaking it
I don't actually own a copy of SF64 3D, but I'll try it out if I get one.
>Yes but all three of those games were stuck in N64 Hell. Now there's a version of each that isn't an assault on the eyes. Early 3D is an eyesore
You're talking to someone who plays older games ALL the time on a CRT.
Also, you're basically saying they're great because they were PORTED to a different console and because of updated visuals.
>the rest are remakes
Wind Waker HD is still the same game, but with A LOT of bloom and some small enhancements to things like sailing or the Triforce hunt.
Then explain how it isn't. It still feels/plays the same with the exception of Gyro aiming and small changes like Iron Boots being an item. It's not in the same league as REmake, where it feels like an almost COMPLETELY different game.
Dragon Quest 7 3DS
Pokemon HGSS and FRLG
Even if you don't like it those are good remakes that butchered at minimun (to me there was no butchering) the priginal games
>literally
is this the shitposting thre-
Oh wait, every fucking thread is the shitposting thread
>motherfuckers dont realize TT is Otacon telling Sunny about the Shadow Moses incident and all the flips and crazy flair is him going all "MY JAPANESE ANIMES" because he thinks snakes a bad ass
REmake
Zero Mission
Twin Snakes (like it or not)
Heart Gold/Soul Silver
Odin Sphere
Dragon Quest I/II/III/IV/V(DS+PS2)/VI/VII
Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland
Kirby Super Star Ultra (sorta)
Donkey Kong '94
AM2R
DuckTales Remastered
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Super Mario All Stars (sorta)
Castlevania Chronicles
Ape Escape: On The Loose
Final Fantasy III/IV
Everything except Twin Snakes. Also, TLoU isn't a remake, it's just a port.
>"twin snakes is bad because of side flips and anime style over the top action"
>because 2, 4, and even to an extent 3 totally didn't do that shit
>Zero Mission
half the fun of the original Metroid is slowly finding your way through a large, non-linear alien planet. ZM just bounces you from checkpoint to checkpoint and then throws in some fun - though superfluous - Zero Suit stuff at the end. not a good remake, but a decent GBA platformer.
that said i agree with most of the rest of your list.
This wasn't implied in the post you're quoting.
Between REmake and Maverick Hunter X, Capcom seems to have a good idea of how to make a worthwhile remake.
2, 3 and 4 were designed and balanced around first person aiming, combat as a viable tactic, and other inclusions to the series. MGS1 wasn't, and Twin Snakes feels like a bad fit of MGS's scenario in MGS2's engine.
LOL
I really want FF7 remake to be good given how much potential they have with Midgar given today's technology and all the removed content in FF7.
But let's face it, you can't make a game like FF7 in today's market. The game will need to pander to the average consumer and that means stripping away stuff, adding DLC and making every episodic.
What's with the walking dog?
>FF5&6 will never get the same treatment as 3&4
Why
i know i fucked up. but thats the only reason people complain about that.
Christ! Spoiler that shit man, there are kids here.
jesus fucking christ it looks like a bad fan game
>Twin Snakes
>Wind Waker for casuals
Every DQ, FF3, FF4, REmake, Odin Sphere
...
FFIII
FFIV
...
I enjoyed Resident Evil REmake and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
Goldeneye remake was shockingly good for being handled by Activision and basically running on the CoD engine.
Kept the Bond feel, did a good job of remixing old levels and keeping them familiar with new twists, and the ability to stealth almost every single section made it feel different than most shooters out at the time.
Bionic Commando: Rearmed was pretty tits.
goldeneye remake is like a bad parody of a CoD stereotype
...
Windwaker hd and TP hd
Do you think at any point while making those character sprites and tilesets anybody on the team took a step back and said "This is looking kind of bad"?
No-one cares what you 'enjoyed', shithead. It's about what's objectively GOOD
System Shock could be okay
Why
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
>port running at higher resolution and framerate
whoah, when I ported GTA V from my 7950 to my 980 ti it totally got remade
FF 1-4 good remakes.
Resident Evil very good remake.
Black Mesa
Halo Collection
Zelda Ocarina/Majora
>Only TLoU is a remaster. The rest are remakes
no they are not, Wind Waker HD is just a souped up port, same engine and shit. MM3D and OoT3D also use the same engine, they were very updated ports
>Halo Collection
If only the multiplayer wasn't so fucking fucked
Wind Waker HD added new shit
>keeps the gameplay that made it a success and gives us new graphics and cleaner presentation
The only way to do a remake.
People should wait at least 2-3 generations before making a remake or its stupid
If only Squeenix knew that
are we talking about a 3d mario game that is controlled with a d-pad maybe?
Yeah, and it plays EXACTLY the same minus small changes.
They did not make it from the ground up.
>Yeah, and it plays EXACTLY the same
>this is a bad thing apparently
Castlevania Chronicles and Rebirth.
The Halo Collection is just reskins with 60 FPS and OoT/MM 3D are also reskins with very small changes.
>checkm8
Famicom Detective Club 2. Of course you could argue it's really more of a visual novel than a game though.
It is when the game is LITERALLY the same and your trying to pass it off as a remake (which it ain't).
Is REmake bad because it doesn't play/feel the same as the original RE?
Final Fantasy 4 on the DS is the best version of 4 imo. Now THAT'S a remake
REMINDER:
Would you call a Director's Cut Blu Ray of a film a remake?
Thought so.
I don't really see modern games getting proper remakes. All you're going to see is more next-gen console ports, "remasters", and VR editions (or whatever the next vidya gimmick is going to be.)
Black Mesa.
Remasters != Remakes
>TLoU isn't a remake, it's just a port.
It's a remaster.
>1080p
>60fps
>hi res shadows
>DLC included
>in-engine photomode
None of these were in the original, so that qualifies as a remaster, not a simple port.
