Hey Sup Forums, what are your thoughts on Street Fighter 3: Third Strike?
To start the thread off, I have to say I think it's an absolute pile of trash.
Retardedly rigid tier list literally built around how bad of a disadvantage a character has over Chun, mish-mash of a cast that's hit and miss, mostly miss mechanically (Sean, Twelve, Q, Alex, somewhat Necro etc.), meta absolutely ruined by parries - a free counter to everything that doesn't even work as an equalizer because a better character will still have better options after a parry than a bad one.
Parry turned the meta into building meter in the corner with fucking NORMALS (another bad design move) and fishing for cr.MK into super a VAST majority of the time. There's nothing to the high level game other than mid-ranged pokefest with occasional kara-throws. I don't care about muh Kuroda, just because he's very good at eating soup with chopsticks doesn't make chopsticks a good universal utensil (this is a good time to dismiss my entire argument for a food analogy, feel free).
And of course there's Daigo parry that all people who don't care for deeper analysis flocked to. It's a hype, great moment, can't deny, but it's only such because it was new to the US players. It was actually a common thing to do among Japanese players. Hell, Daigo himself even put 3s on backburner because of how shit this Chun-dominated piece of shit on a stick is.
I really like the game but i wont say it's balanced.
The balance is all over the place and parries, which is kind of a neat mechanic, feels like it was an after thought.
|No fighting game is perfect but 3S sure is fucking fun to play.

Isaac Morgan
Excellent counter points
Sure is fun, until the high level shit kicks in
Adrian Reed
they did my boy sean wrong but It's my favorite street fighters game. That being said, I wish it had alpha gold-level of soundtrack.

Everything is great about the game except for the gameplay is another one of my gripes. Such great sound and art deserved better core mechanics.

I didn't read any of that shit, but i can tell you it features best girl.
Josiah Scott
So does USF though

>You will never hug a gorgeous japanese tomboy OBSESSED with martial arts. Her hair stuck to her forhead, her skin salty with workout, her gi warm and damp with sweat
Jose Moore
>EVER.

I think Third Strike is an unbalanced mess that's best aspects are just aesthetics.
Garou is a much better game. A bigger percentage of the cast is viable in competitive play and it is aesthetically just as strong. I find it mechanically much more fun too. It allows for more styles of play whereas Third Strike punishes all playstyles except one, thus making it so that most characters have a good half their moveset or more that is completely worthless.
Easton Miller
Yes. It pleased me to see her large breasts jiggle physics.
>the irony that SF most tomboy girl is also one of the bustiest.
Kayden Williams
I love the game and art but the soundtrack is just weak.
Andrew Wright
High level garou has unblockables into 80%+ combos though
Justin Martinez
And high level SF3 can have near touch of death scenarios with Makoto and Urien. A lot of fighting games have insane stuff like that in them, but it often times balances out.
Much of the cast has some ridiculously strong tools in Garou.

ITT one salty spic who played 3s for the first time and can't accept he's been playing SNK trash all his life and his childhood was the chinese knockoff
Gabriel Rodriguez
I can forgive a single game its OST if the entire series has a lot to offer.
For example i LOVE tekken 4's unusual "jazz & feels" OST, but i wouldnt want the entire series to sound like it... i think...
Anyway, SF3's more hiphop and Jazz themes carried itself well, its better than anything SFV has to offer for sure (apart from the vs bison end music used in the story mode, shit was cash.)
Garou is fucking retarded trash. It has a mechanic that essentially gives you meterless focus cancels, including on some fucking uppercuts to make them safe and open up longer combos.
it's also a clunky 4 button shallow mess with the cop fucker being as bad as chun.

I wouldn't go so far and call it trash, but it's definitely overrated. Third Strike gets put on a pedestal by people who didn't even touch the game back in the days. The Daigo parry moment drew a lot of those folks in. Plus, it was the last mainline Street Fighter game to feature pixel art. Now nostalgiafags feel obligated to jizz over it.
Grayson Baker
Third strike isn't overrated at all. It's actually a good fighting game with competitive merit. Any game that succeeds in that can't be praised enough regardless of the flaws, which only 3s players actually understand. unless you want to argue it's flaw is fundamentally being rushdown focused in which case you can literally only play hyper fighting (GOTYAY)

Kusoge that people who don't play fighting games dickride because muh ebin daigo parry XD Worst sf game besides 5 Parrying was a bad mechanic
