Everytime I ask Sup Forums about opinion on Windows 10, they tell me to install Gentoo or Solus.

And what OS do you guys use for playing video games?

I have copy of Education, which is basically Enterprise without Cortana, without ads and restricted Shop. According to MS, on this version I can disable everything I need, but Sup Forums made me paranoid enough to be too afraid of installing one, saying that I cant disable anything, that it will scan my every file and every keyboard input, that settings will reset with every update and so on.

Whats your opinion, Sup Forums? Do you guys care about that or just call it a go and run Win 10? Or keep to Win 7 or even XP?

Windows beause of compatibility.

> I cant disable anything, that it will scan my every file and every keyboard input, that settings will reset with every update and so on

They are not lying.

You just live with it.

10 is fine. Ignore memers.

But Microsoft says that with this version I can:

technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/manage/manage-connections-from-windows-operating-system-components-to-microsoft-services

>You can configure telemetry at the Security level, turn off Windows Defender telemetry and MSRT reporting, and turn off all other connections to Microsoft network endpoints as described in this article to help prevent Windows from sending any data to Microsoft. There are many reasons why these communications are enabled by default, such as updating malware definitions and maintain current certificate revocation lists, which is why we strongly recommend against this.

Don't be a queer windows 10 is fine

fucking jesus christ, forgot my trip, so sorry Sup Forums

>its a buggy piece of shit
Never noticed

>you aren't doing anything illegal
Why?

I do tons of technically "illegal" stuff and Ive had no problems

>you can't turn off Cortana or Skype

But even "Pro" dont come with Skype and said Education dont have Cortana from the start (MS even point that out, but as something "negative").

windows 10 is fine . it does data log though but since you have education version you can turn off most of the data collection .

From my experience Windows 10 has been fine from a strictly functional aspect outside two control panels, which is still hilarious every time I think about it. Every new Windows OS has some compatibility issues but I installed an XP VM with hardware accel and that seems to do pretty well.

Getting magnets of dolphin porn doesn't count user.

windows 10 enterprise key: NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43

I never installed skype but its listed in my task manager and resource monitor and I have insufficient permissions to stop it from running, also Cortana (SearchUI.exe) Is always running even though I never set it up. Its annoying, but again you don't have anything to fear if you aren't doing anything illegal.

That's only one of MANY things user

MANY

>NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43
what are the advantages of enterprise user?

Its a little more advanced of a starship and is usually the Flagship of the Federation

lets you turn off data collection like in education

you can see a full list here : microsoft.com/en-us/WindowsForBusiness/Compare

SearchUI.exe is general searching function, with Cortana being part of it. You can prevent her from running (or, in case of said Edu, you dont have her from the start), but you wont disable searching within system.

>I have insufficient permissions to stop it from running

What version do you use anyway?

I'm still studying software engineering, so i'm guessing this windows could be more adapted for what i'm preparing myself into?
Can someone respond this? I don't wanna waste a key on purpose

>but again you don't have anything to fear if you aren't doing anything illegal.
And again Ive been using win 10 since preview and never turned any telemetry or data collection off and ive done plenty of illegal shit so I'm not really sure what your implying

But its pretty false

If you are studying, chances are that your uni have free keys for Edu or even Server (2012 or 2016) for you to take. Try asking.

The way how univerisites treat their students and their keys varies. In my case, we can keep the keys after we end our studies and the only restriction for usage is that we cant use them for commercial purposes. But I heard about one guy claiming that his uni specified that they cant use their free OSes for ANY other use than educational ones.

I live in a third world country, all the PCs have pirated Windows, as well as all the other software, I'm pretty sure that asking would be a waste of time, but still, the question is still unanswered, will this version of Win10 cater to my needs?

I think so, yes. The proper degree of control could be the reason on itself.

I'm sticking with 7 as long as I can senpai
I want to minimize intrusions from all kinds of agencies on my computer, hardware included (I can't believe we live in such a timeline)

For christs sake you can write English so I assume you can read it

>He thinks he safe from that shit on seven
Seriously though staying on seven is a meme. Windows 10 is superior in almost every way

Okay

So, basically, you guys are telling em that what Sup Forums says about Win 10 is a meme and that while Home/pro indeed cant turn most things off, higher versions can and are completely fine?
