Was there an actual plot somewhere in this that didn't get quite finished, or was this the extent of the project?

i still don't really remember what was going on in that game
besides the fact that the guy from G.U.N. held a really fucking petty grudge against shadow
I feel like Sonic Team just wants to make Final Fantasy.
All I recall was aliens were behind everything. And Eggman finally telling "Shadow Yes are the fucking real Shadow now beat that thing already"
GUNman and his family was raised aboard the ARK like Maria. When Shadow was created with Black Doom's magic, the government decided Gerald was insane and gave orders to kill everyone and everything on the ARK (which raises the question how GUNman survived, let alone is working for the very same government). He blames everything on Shadow more than Gerald or Black Doom, which is what made his grudge inaccurate.
The Black Comet cycles once every 60/70 years, which is what caused Black Doom and the black aliens to return. BD wanted to take over the world and kill all humans (I guess), and tries to get Shadow, technically his science-son, to aide him in retrieving the Chaos Emeralds.
Meanwhile Eggman is Eggman, he either tricked Shadow into thinking he's an android or didn't know he was the real Shadow until the end, when said.
The plot line ended in the same game as it begun GUN's antagonistic relationship ended, the Black Arms race of aliens were introduced and then subsequently exterminated. a completely unnecessary expansion into Shadow's past was uncovered, and then subsequently never mentioned ever again, and even telling us Shadow is the original and not a copy or clone and Eggman recovered him after SA2 for treatment which eventually had him discovered by Rogue in Heroes. There is absolutely nothing to come back to that needs further explanation, and it seems that SEGA's unwillingness to talk about the game is only seconded to 06. And to be perfectly honest, it is one of SEGA's more intelligent decisions
What pisses me off is, like the plot, the game actually has elements and moments of being something decent. There are some levels of platforming and speed akin to that of a Sonic title, but it's buried under fucking fetch quests, hide and seek quests, and "kill all X" quests. To reiterate, there's no variety in mission types in this game, which wouldn't be such a big issue if 3/5 of them didn't suck ass.
Not to mention several other flaws that were riddled through the game.
Remember when Shadow killed the internet?

was this game even fun? i don't remember
what i do remember is being 11 and losing my shit when i saw commercials
If you liked Sonic Adventure 2, you'll probably like this to a varying extent.
It's very flawed. Not really bad. Just could've used a bit more ironing out and such.
I unironically liked Shadow the Hedgehog and still do, the only complaint I really have about the game is that mutliplayer is only 1v1 instead of 4 players
FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM
Game feels more like Heroes than Adventure 2.
I can respect that PoV.
I AM ALL I AM ALL I AM.
>that one level where to complete the Hero mission, you had to beat Sonic in a race
>You couldn't complete the normal mission without losing said race to Sonic, otherwise it would default to the Hero.
Some of those mission requirements were really hard
I liked how each level had 3 different choices. good guy, mutual, or bad guy
Other than getting the 74 endings or whatever it was I did mostly everything there was to do in the game
Daily reminder that the president has a picture of Sonic and Shadow on his desk
Not gonna lie, making aliens behind everything actually makes Shadow's backstory make more sense. In one fell swoop it gives a reason why Shadow is so compact and self-sufficient when the prototype was a fat immobile ye lizard that needed external life support to stay alive, it gives a reason why the government decided to kill Gerald for doing what they hired him to do, and it gives a reason why they'd lock the thing that they hired Gerald to make away for 50 years instead of actually trying to use it like they intended.
Sure it's campy b-movie sci-fi schlock but it's not like that's out of place in a campy kids action-adventure Saturday morning cartoon game franchise.
I only played it when I was 13 but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
>Decide to give Shadow the Hedgehog a try, it can't be as bad as they say
>YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO KILL THE PRESIDENT OF FAKE AMERICA IN ONE OF THE LEVELS

In a lot of these endings, Shadow killing Eggman made no sense. Even in the final missions where you help Eggman, you still end up fighting him.
some of the stage designs in shadow are pretty interesting, shame it controls like ass
You know, Shadow the Hedgehog's story can be compared to Star Fox 64's, where it's short and meant to be played multiple times over several paths.
Please destroy all the artificial chaos!
Didn't you only get that line if you idle at the final boss for like 15 minutes?
Yup, fifteen solid minutes of waiting for it to trigger.
It takes like a 3rd of time to beat it so you pretty much have to sit around twiddling your thumbs for it to trigger an incredibly important answer for a question in Shadow's arc.
This game is such a glorious trainwreck. Gonna load up Dolphin and replay right now
what the fuck I didn't know this
why would they do this, how the fuck is a normal person supposed to find this out
even as a kid I thought shadow killing sonic was beyond edgy

>final fight as super shadow
>other characters cheer you on
>as the fight progresses, the side characters start choking in their dialogue
>you listen to them practically die if you take too long
honestly it sounds like a joke easteregg/thing eggman told him only so he would be motivated to beat the boss
secret ending
Um excuse me but where is the proofs?
