Don't buy it

Don't buy it.

It does a lot of things right. No zombies or mutants. Lot's of creepy areas. Great sound.

Despite all this though, it's still an alpha, and a painfully obvious one. This can be a great game given time, but right now, it's shit.

Dude. It's an Early Access. Everybody fucking know what that means. And those who don't, deserve to burn themselves for their inexcusable stupidity.

>Early access indie survival with crafting
>It's shit

This sounds like you meant to reply to someone and instead made a thread.
>clearly an alpha
It's actually fairly polished and we'll done with a decent amount of content.

if you wanted a long dark you could just look at my cock hahahahaha

But it doesn't even have a focus on crafting. Like at all. It has more of a focus on scavenging and actually camping out and surviving. 90% you will die to the environment, not the wildlife.

Care to explain your problems with the game OP? Like, in depth, not "its just an alpha"

>and we'll
Hello marketer

How's "The Forest" coming along? Or "Stranded Deep"?
Dropped?

It means the devs are already getting their money and the game will never be finished.

This is the problem with early access. The goal is to make money on your game. But when you can publish it on Steam long before its done and make your money, why bother finishing the game? You already got paid, there's no point In spending more time and money finishing the game when it's already doing what it was intended to do when finished.

Games actualyy p great.

has a sense of dread when your still learning maps, that is genuinely powerful

That was just my phone auto-correcting well into we'll nigger.

Hinterland isn't doing that though?
they just put out a fairly massive update that focused on the survivability of clothes alone.

I bought this when it first came out on steam.

It's only been better better. The debts have added a shit ton of stuff. Still a while from the end, but this is one of the better Early Access titles.

Still though. Not done yet, so not surprised if people don't wanna buy it.

Fuck you.

Menus, and so much more, don't even show up half the time.

I fucking want to love this game, but fuck, menus not accessible? Game doesn't load?

Fuck you. Fix your shit.

Read this post.

Multiple times.

The Forest is going great, it's almost beta now.
Stranded Deep is still in development but goes the right direction.

This seems like a perfect game to experience in VR. I'm just waiting for it to get finished and get decent vr support

ahahahahahaha

post it

Works On My Machineā„¢
what menus are you talking about, the radial menu? Inventory?

sorry, man I haven't had those issues, but I hope the devs will fix it for you. I remember buying proteus (yeah, yeah) and all of a sudden it wouldn't launch a year later. I emailed the dev, and he setup a beta launch for me that fixed it. It was great. Your issue seems a bit biger though

Obviously it doesn't apply to absolutely every game and developer out there, but the point still stands. For many, the incentive is to make money, and early access allows them to do it with an unfinished game and removes a lot of the incentive to finish it after it's been made available through early access.

Like Ark, was/still is in early access but the devs decided to port to consoles and make paid DLC instead of finishing the game and taking it out of early access on Steam.

its very comfy and pretty, perfect for late chill sessions, but holy jesus its super frustrating:

>man-made objects like canned food or water does not respawn
>clear all the Mistery Lake locations
>despite having a phat stack of food/water my character STILL needs more water and food than I currently have to SURVIVE the day
>I try to go into another location
>suddenly, a massive blizzard starts fucking shit up
>can't run, can't jog even, the blizzard is making me literally crawl
>some wolves appear and they start to stalk me
>go into the next area, wasting so much energy becasue of the furry fuckers
>die because of freezing/blizzard

And that was on normal difficulty, I didn't found any guns to defend myself nor I had time to craft a fukken bow, and by the time I got to a building I had to eat ASAP or ded

I tried easy but shits too easy, walking simulator tier of easy

The fucking starting menu my man.

Not just the inventory, or anything so basic.

From when I load up the game and the main menus, to the backpack and everything else.

there are a couple early access games that were decent (dankest dungeon and factorio for example - though factorio is still one update away from being released I think)
ironically, Eternal Crusade is being update frequently and the devs are actually trying, too (even though it already failed)

but yeah, for most games the devs just lose motivation as soon as they have the money. after all, all additional work they put into the game will not be really rewarded anymore

What have you tried so far to fix it? I've never heard any complaints that the main menu is bugging out.

restarting steam and my PC. The fuck else can fix a start menu?

So far I'm liking this game though, still updates could be more frequent on sandbox. But from what I've understand majority of their team is working on story mode.

>nd by the time I got to a building I had to eat ASAP or ded
You realize that you don't die if you reach 0 calories, right? You can go for a long time without eating.

yeah, it sucks that it's my dream co-op game and that won't happen though.
my friends and i are putting together an arcadey point system, and that's kinda fun.

When your hunger bar runs out you don't instantly die. I find it hard to believe you had a ton of food if you didn't have enough to fill up. The rest is just learning from experience how the weather patterns work and how much you can stay in one area if you don't hunt or fish. Respawning canned stuff if a bad idea, I had a similar situation as you where I was low on food, cold, sick with food poisoning, and very tired. I had to trek from the cabin with the Canada flag in the dark taking breaks to make a quick fire and sleep so I wouldn't pass out. I was almost dead when I finally got to the Dam and stocked up before moving on to Coastal Highway.

Re-installing or Verifying your installation?

Did both of those. Game is just a buggy mess.

Again. It does a lot of things right, and for hours it was fine, but then it became unplayable.

May the devs get oral sex daily and make great games. Really. For right now though, fix shit.

Not the guy you replied to, but never had any issues with menu or anything. I think the problem is on your end.

I don't know if you've realized this but this is a problem on your side, not the game.

>tfw literally the same thing happened to me but I survived and got back home with a huge load of supplies and you didn't

Well my specs matched perfectly with the Steam recommended ones, so what could be the issue?

Issues with drivers? Trying updating your Nvidia/AMD drivers.

Again, my specs were fine as per the recommendations. What do I need to change?

No, those are up to date.

You don't die but you get a fuckton of diseases and shit which they are basically a death sentence if you don't have items required to craft the healing/bed to rest

also I think that you loose too many calories when sleeping, but thats just me

It wasnt just my hunger bar, it was my energy bar, thirst and cold bar, too much stuff to handle when you are being stalked by wolves

I have some experience with this type of games, survival stuff, especially with DayZ, I found that in general map layout on The Long Dark is a bit too confusing, in DayZ I learned my way to Cherno/Electro in 10/20 hours but in this game I just can't learn my way around, everything looks the same to me, I only know how to get to the Trapper's Homestead and that's it, I get lost often

delet this

FUCKIN SHILLS

Let it get to beta first

i like it

Bought it last year during some sale for 4$, enjoyed it quite much for the content it offered. Paying more than 10$ is a no go though, atleast in its current state.

pirated it and had like two weeks of real fun.

that`s more than most games give me.
I really hope they add more stuff , the story dosen't really interest me I just want to see more contend.
especially ways to interact with the world and possibly different playstyles.

it has so much potential!

can't stand this dick level camera

copy+paste

>wahh i'm not a 7'5" uber driver

really ?

I honestly just typed this in without reading anything on here about the game.

however I can imagine that this is actually the usual long dark experience.

I just hope they think so too
