How good is emulation on a Wii?
Thinking of buying one and softmodding it.

I'd just use Dolphin. There's literally no reason not to if you're pirating anyways.

Why not buy a Wii U and hack its virtual Wii as well as the Wii U itself?

You think I have a rig that can run Dolphin?
That's a laugh.

Pretty good.

GCN compatibility would be my guess.

softmodding a Wii is a good way to have a Gamecube/Wii/N64/DS machine plugged to a hard drive without needing to ever use a glitchy emulator that requires you to have very specific settings to make the game playable on a fucking OC'd i7.

Plus you get built in cheats too.

N64 runs good?
If so, I'll have a machine that could run all Nintendo games up to the Wii. And I got a decent SD TV. Though I can live without N64 if need be.

Sounds like a good idea.

SD TV with component cables are kinda rare, but if you find one you're gold. Personally I use my HD tv with Wii component cables, it does the job but you will easily notice Wii games aren't meant to be played in HD...

Not sure if N64 emulators work, but you can get VC for some of them.

VWii does have GC compatibility via Nintendon't.

Then use the money you'd be using here to beef up your rig.

How does that work without controller ports?

Wii is like $60-$80. Really damn cheap.

you wont notice a real difference.
wii games look like dogshit either way.

they look great on a 480p screen, hint: you can only get progressive scan with component cables.

When you upscale the shit out of Wii games on a 40 inch screen they look fucked unless there's some heavy AA.

>playing wii on 40inches
wow just cut your eyes out.

If even that much. I got a Wii that's backwards compatible and four first party controllers for 40 bucks and I see deals like that in flea markets and buy/sell/trade groups all the time.

I'm playing Super Star Saga on my wii. I'm 'avin a good giggle.

Plus 240p output.

480p.

Not that I'm defending it, Nintendo were exposed after skipping the first HD console gen.

dude like a 2012 laptop can run dolphin at wii specs or better

Try running Mario Galaxy at 60 fps on a mid range 2012 laptop.

No, it can't.
I'm really getting tired of hearing this "But anything can run X" shit. I can't run it.
