P4 has better gameplay while P3 has better story

What's there to debate? P3 is superior in every way other than maybe pacing

P3 in every regard. It's one of the few rpgs that made me use every character, and it's social links were more fun, even trying to avoid couples bumping into each other was great. Not even a contest.

P3 and it's not even close. P5 makes them both outdated as fuck though.

It has nothing to do with graphics or technology.

When Nocturne and DDS had full length dungeons with puzzles and cool looking demon enemies, there was literally no excuse for Persona 3 and 4 to make randomly generated hallways and shitty blobs. And you had to explore a shitty city block for 80 hours instead of an attempt at overworld like Nocturne.

They also could have implemented P5's social links giving you unique gameplay and battle system perks instead of just bonus experience.

P5 added a lot to the RPG side of things that were a plain drag in 3 and 4, which everyone played solely for the characters and story.

P3 is better in almost every way but general gameplay. I still really like P4, but P3 has better characters, story and music, even though I played P4 first.

I'd say I prefer P4's plot, but P3 has far better character development because the development of the characters in P3 was driven by the plot whereas in P4 it's basically a short sequence where they face their shadow, then the rest is you having to do their social links.

Every full moon had something going on, and there was an actual main story instead of "fix someone's problems in their dungeon then get a letter in the mail from the killer."

persona 1's english version is both translated poorly, and majorly sensored.
Also having a game breaking issue with not dulling out enough money because they never accounted for it, even though experience would keep going up at an increased "easier" rate.

P4 is edgy, in an artificial island, with a bunch of orphans living with drama

Both are great in their own way

5 is a good combination of those 2, but just a bit more on the P3 side. Tokyo setting plus all the dark shit going on with the villains (rape, prostitution, blackmail, slavery, forced marriage) yet the characters still have a good time and are very united
